  1. If you are going to follow every post I make, looking to make me look like an idiot, you will surely succeed. But at what cost? lighten freakin up. I use my head every time I post. Michigan State just won the Big Ten regular season title. That is no small accomplishment even in a "down year". Who are YOU reppin? And, as a side note: I attended two of the finest universities in this country. I am not shy about who they are, and I am not shy about supporting them. I have supported them through winning seasons, I have supported them through national championships, and I have supported them through years when they stunk so bad that my dog wouldnt pee on them. I will continue to support them whether you think it is a good idea or not. But thanks for the opportunity to say that. Carry on. Edit: and GOOOOOOOOOO BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssss
  2. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I bring up Earvin when it has to do with something about the past. Sure. Or to make a point about "used to be". But you are stretching your argument a long ways. Back up young pinktie. If we are going to talk "past" I have much more past to draw from. You can type out all the carolina blues that you want. The difference is that I actually saw those guys play (yours and mine), and you have to depend on folk lore to know what is truth and what is false. No way am I denying the NC legacy. Great program. Anyone who tries to argue that is an idiot. But I dont care about NCarolina, and I dont care about the rest of the Big Ten. I care about the Spartans. And they are capable of making life miserable for any team out there. Yours included. (they have also proven that they can fold like a jack knife, Im not denying that) So lighten up francis. Do we have a bet on that coke or not?
  3. You just hang in there. There is another shot waiting for UNC if they can get to it. MSU will make it farther than UNC. I will bet a coke on it. EDIT: In the immortal words of Pumba, "You need to put your past, in your behind". ANd you money where your mouth is!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. no no no no no no no no noooooooooooooooooooo. Talent is gone with one bad landing on a dunk. With one dive for a loose ball. With one accidental collision at half court. GONE. FOREVER. Talent is fleeting. It is there. It is shining bright. He needs to enjoy it to it fullest while he can, but always have a back up. (there is a country song in this somewhere) I hope he never needs a backup, but I pray that he has one if he ever needs it.
  5. or the fact that Tyler Travelbureau got the freakin johnnycake treatment from the refs in that game. How many steps do you get in college ball anyways? He looked like Michael Jackson filming the Thriller Video, moonwalking his way through the paint. The refs did everything except pour syrup on that game for NC. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  6. I hope you are right. But the odds are not the greatest. Even for the very best players. I wish I could tell you how many players I know of that were top 5 in the country that were out of basketball within 5 years after college. And by out of basketball I mean: NBADL didnt want them anymore. Europe didnt want them anymore. Knees are broke. Can't raise their arms over their heads to put a t-shirt on. I know these guys. They were all everything in HS. One was the #1 ranked hs baller, certain lottery pick, and chose to go to school instead. Never got a taste of the NBA because his jump shot left him for another woman. Just saying to protect yourself. Life is uncertain.
  7. you could break out the Green, to help celebrate the Michigan State Men's Big Ten Title!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. I dont want to speak for anyone else, but I dont think anyone was trying to bash the other kids. They all played their hearts out last night. But jj obviously does not have the complete supporting cast that is needed to get that gold ball. There is no crime in that, and I certainly mean no disrespect towards the other kids when I say it. They played very hard. They all have skills. But there are few that have the jj skills, and sometimes that will even make his own teammates look like they are doing less. (does that make sense? Im not sure myself) One last quick piece of advice for JJ, not that he is reading anything I write (maybe King can take it to him later!!): Get your degree. Dont just go to Vandy and use it as a stepping stone. IF you make it to the NBA, and I use IF because it is a long shot for anyone......IF you make the NBA there is an average career of what? 5-7 years. A person can make a ton of money in 5-7 years, but the NBA lifestyle, no matter how conservative, will eat that money right up. Just get that degree. There are so many kids that wipe out a ton of potential in life by chasing athletic dreams and not taking care of real life along the way. Injuries can happen in less than a moment, and I pray that you never have to deal with that. But takecare of your future. And there is no better way to assure a great future than with a degree from Vandy. I love that place. I should charge them for this PR work. hahaha. Good luck jj.
  9. The last time he played in Baxter he got the "Jordan Rules". You couldnt BREATHE on the guy without getting a foul. And he could do no wrong. This trip. The refs just completely stunk. (yeah I said it). The SC kid jumping in the air to block a pass (that never happened) and landing on the Upperman kid who is still standing in the same spot...but NO CALL. There was a mugging in front of the scorers table that included grabbing DBaxter by the jersey and pulling him backwards, but no call. and then some touch fouls that were hard to figure out what game these guys were watching. The first 4 minutes were brutal!!! Oh, and yes there were some no calls the other way also. Im not "one siding" this argument. There was one ref that apparently wanted the show to be about him. What a shame. Bottom line: Congrats to jJenkins on a great season, a great career, and a great future. You have obviously worked very hard to make yourself that caliber of ball player. I wish you nothing but the very best in your future, and much success, except for the 2+ times a year that you play Florida.
  10. understood. I wish I had known about the empty seats in the SC section while the game was going, I would have pointed them out. Lets pack that place again tonight and tomorrow, and we can do it better this time now that we have a little practice!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. Thanks RC. I am trying. I want to make sure that I am always respectful to the visiting teams. They have Moms and Dads in the stands also (and gf's!!) and everyone likes a little positive attention now and then. I even go as far as trying to give the visiting teams substitutions first, so that if I miss someone it usually ends up being an Upperman kid, and I can catch up on that later. (MOM, PUT THE BOOK DOWN, YOUR KID IS COMING IN THE GAME!!!) Trying to be fair, so he hit a bit of a sensitive spot. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> thanks again.
  12. My daughter got stuck in the Station Camp section. She said there were plenty of seats available near her. She also said that the girl in front of her was either 1) JJ's gf or 2) Wanted to be JJ's gf. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> said that the girl tried to chase down the refs after the first foul on Jenkins. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> She had to be restrained by the rest of the crowd. Good stuff.
  13. and your neighbor's neighbor. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> I tried to keep it light, and make it as entertaining as possible.
  14. Excuse me? Jenkins name was announced in the following manner: 1) Starting Lineups 2) Every time he scored 3) Every time he re-entered the game. 4) Each of the very few fouls that were actually called on him "Basket by Jenkins" "Basket by John Jenkins" "Basket.....by John Jenkins" "Basket by John Jenkins" "Basket.....by John Jenkins" "Basket by John Jenkins" "Basket.....by John Jenkins" "Basket by John Jenkins" "Basket.....by John Jenkins" "Basket by John Jenkins" "Basket.....by John Jenkins" "Foul on #12, John Jenkins, his first team third" "Basket by John Jenkins" "Basket.....by John Jenkins" "Basket by John Jenkins" "Basket.....by John Jenkins" "Foul on #12, John Jenkins. His 2nd. team 4th" "Basket by John Jenkins" "Basket.....by John Jenkins" Yeah, Something like that. There was not one single time where I did not recognize Jenkins, or anyone else on his team, over the PA. Infact, the only basket I missed of the night was the Baxter 3 pointer to open the 2nd half, and that is because there was so much going on behind the table that I missed the basket. I am there to do a job, not to be a fan. And fan or not, I would never be disrespectful to a player or a team. Im sorry you didnt hear it. but it was there. He was treated just like everyone else. oh, maybe that was the problem. Edit: It has been 25 min since I posted this, and it is still bothering me. Where were you sitting? I dont know why there was a problem. We had the sound up, the bass turned down, trying to make sure that the volume was there for the larger crowd. It took us a while to get the feedback problem figured out, but I just do not understand this one. I am a bit baffled.
  15. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  16. ok, this is where we have to remember who we are. WE are just a bunch of fans/parents/students posting crap on a message board (crap=opinions, facts, whatever) If #11, or #23.....#14........#21 come in here and start posting things like: "Im not worried" "We're better than that" "No way we lose to those chumps" etc. etc. THEN I would worry about over confidence. If us fans get over confident it will have ZERO affect on the outcome of the game. Im not worried. UHS -v- LA is going to be a great game. EPIC. Dont miss it. I know I wont.
  17. game times: LA -v- Dekalb Co. 6pm UHS -v- SC 7:30pm Doors open at 4:30ish.
  18. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> now Im blushing!! It's not worth doing if we can't have a little fun along the way!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. Well, I probably read it wrong, so my apologies for that. I see what you are saying. I am not doubting that SC is a very good team. I think three of these teams are very evenly matched, and the fourth team could beat any of the other 3 on a given night. I think Upperman wins tonight, but yes, just my opinion. It is going to be a lot of fun.
  20. It is going to be CRAZY in that place!!! Im looking forward to it. BTW, never met the kid before last night, but the Upperman kid did a great job in the SSBanner to open the night last night!!! hahaa....I told her "dont lock your knees" she had no idea that you can pass out like that. hahaha. I was going to pretend to pass out while she was singing, but didnt want to make her laugh in the middle of the 'banner!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> she was very nervous, but did a great job!
  21. Im not sure that I agree with the idea of "the best player=the best team". It will be a great night of basketball, that is for certain.
  22. Are we going to flood the court, and see if is sneakers get wet?? I say Jenkins gets 42. Baxter gets 21. Christian gets 18. Nash gets 26. Taylor gets 8. Hamlet gets 18 and Matt Allen gets 4. I dont care what anyone gets. It is all speculation. I just want to know where the bulletin board material is. If a player is paying attention to things that are said negatively about him on a bulletin board they they are paying attention to the wrong things. I think he is a smarter kid than that. At least I hope, for the sake of his career, that he is. Hey King, when you print this out and hand it to him, make sure you let him know who I am. I have no beef with him as a player, or a person. I dont believe that one game tells the who story of who a person is, and that is all I have seen. See ya'll tomorrow night.
  23. dadgum that Alissa Sells is a tough kid. Great comeback win LA. And great showing by the LA faithful. The next few nights will be a lot of fun!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  24. I agree completely. Congrats to both of them on fine HS careers. And if Dunn is indeed a 4.0 student, congrats again to him. That is not easy to do WITHOUT sports. Even tougher to do as a top notch athlete. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
