  1. Gallatin dominated SC earlier in the year. Will the second meeting be a better outcome for the Bison?
  2. What a disappointing game. Neither team really lived up to the hype. I think that WH looked much better last year. I expected much more from this team. Have they been playing like this all season? I am sure the WH fans were disappointed as well with the level of play displayed tonight. Hopefully they can pull it together and make another run. We are beginning to get used to poor play at SC. The kids are clearly discouraged, afraid to make a mistake and not playing up to their potential. Possibly tired of all the negativity and the coaches not playing the best players. It is hard to win against solid teams without your best on the floor. I know the team was hoping for a run to the state but that seems to be an impossible task based on how they have been playing. The team is clearly better than the 1A competition they played to prepare for the 2nd half of the season. But I think we have to beat AA teams to make it to the state. I hope they can figure it out soon so a D1 players skills are not wasted just for a region or sub-state appearance.
  3. Larry Legend are you going to the game tonight? I am expecting to see a big game from Barnes. I wasn't able to get to the Beech game. He should be able to post up the smaller guards from SC. I expect the tempo of the game to be a major factor in who wins the game. SC tends to turn the ball over quite a bit and they have some poor free throw shooters. It should be a very competitive game.
  4. Jenkins played a solid game. Although he didn't shoot as good as he normally does he was able to help the team make a few good runs. I agree that they must have scoring from other players to advance to the State. Must figure out how to stop easy baskets inside. They are not very big I am not sure what defense to play to stop all of the easy baskets the taller teams get against them. Jenkins is there 2nd biggest player but to put him inside may put get him in foul trouble.
  5. WOW this post was to discuss the chances of a SC upset. I would only say that to beat Gallatin a team effort is necessary. Gallatin had 4 players in double digits and with one at 20 and another at 18. For SC to build from last season more players will need to step up and score.
  6. What will it take for SC to pull of an upset against the Green Wave?
  7. I am planning to be at the WH/Beech game. I have heard Beech is down this year but they have some starters back. Barnes should be able to get plenty of open looks against the 1-3-1 defense. Will you buy me some popcorn and a coke?
  8. Since they have no chance how many will WH beat SC by? Will it be by double digits, 20, 25....
  9. I'm not 100% sure what you are getting at. My comment reffered to the fact that WH was not that deep and that is why they were playing as freshman. Not necessarily because they were ready to play Varsity because of the talent level at WH. I am not putting down these players for their record or accomplishments as freshman. I believe my comments were a reply to someone making a case that these kids are top 10 in AA and was using theip play time as freshman on the varsity team as a reason why. I believe Jenkins on the other hand average 15 -16 a game as a freshman and was clearly ready to play varsity as a freshman.
  10. I really do not know who will win the game and for this post I really do not care who wins the game. This thread is about the top 10 in AA. I watched both of these teams last year and the only player worthy or recognition as a top 10 player in AA is Jenkins. He is a legit D1 prospect. He is being recruited by schools that regular participants in March Madness and some typically are in the sweet 16, Elite 8 and contend for National Titles. These types of programs do not recruit average players they look for the best of the best. That is why he should be considered on the list and the others I have mentioned should not. I have a hard time believing that the SC team and coaches do not think they can win. They won the last time without Jenkins and the district game was a toss up. I would expect the fans to see a very competitive game between these schools. Both teams has a solid group of players back from teams that were successful last year.
  11. I am sure that many of the quality teams in the mid state are not afraid of your so called best 3 of all time. Thanks for the stats. Maybe you should change your post name to STAT BOY!!!!! I know the real Larry has a B-Ball IQ.
  12. I'm sure that you will be in attendance to know what happens. I don't consider my comments a put down to the kids. I only talk about what I have seen and the skills that have been displayed by the players. If you and your WH buddies would post realistic comments about talent and ability I wouldn't have a need to comment on what you already should know and typically see at the games. If you have any basketball intelligence at all you should know that 3 WH players are not in the top 10 in the state. So why post that they are? You really don't want Barnes and Jenkins to go head to head. Jenkins may get more in a quarter that Barnes gets in the entire game, possibly a couple of games.
  13. Starting as a freshman really speaks to the depth of the white house team not necessarily how good these players were. Look at the record. 9-19. I watched them play as freshman. Much different than say a John Jenkins when he was a Freshman averaging 19 a game on a pretty solid SC team. I look at the total package as well. I have yet to see Barnes ability to go right and get a shot off the dribble other than a layup. I agree that he is a good spot up shooter actually very good spot up shooter. To be one of the best in the state shouldn't he be able to do it all, take over a game when necessary. I just haven't seen that type of talent out of these kids.
