Tuesday, March 9th: DCA 4 - David Lipscomb 2

DCA upset FRA Friday night (2/19) in the Region tournament 38-32. It was a very hard-fought defensive game. DCA took the lead in the second half and never gave FRA the chance to set up their 4th quarter 'ball stall' offense designed to get Derika Wyatt to the free throw line to sink 10 straight free throws. Best matchup between these two teams all season because they played 4 full quarters of basketball! (BTW. When will they put a shot clock into HS basketball?)

It appears no one noticed that DCA played over half of this game with only 10 players due to several players suffering injury. Although they started with 11, one of the girls was injured in the first half and they played with 10 for about 15 minutes. In the second half, DCA lost another player due to injury for the majority of the second half. With no subs and playing a man down for over half of the game, it would make sense that WH controlled portions of the game. But it is also surprising that they were unable to capture more than 1 goal in this situation, particularly since they were able to rotate fresh players (as many as 5 at a time) throughout the game.

DCA won 9-4.

Last Saturday (2/17/07) was snowed-out. Please plan to attend the Open Gym / Tryout this coming Saturday, February 24th, at Watkins Park Community Center from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
