Okay, just to refute some of your assertions. First of all no RHS supporters paid for the uniforms. The facilitities that the previous two staffs left Mac and his staff were deplorable. It is time for all Oakland supporters to admit that Euverard left after he was losing to RHS consistently, and that Ferguson's days were over. Get behind Mac and his staff and enjoy the ride. If you ever get tired of him, we will take him today.

You are right no riverdale supporters paid for unis.....they would be called former riverdale supporters.. and yes the donated pretty nicely!!! and if you call that indoor facility deplorable...then yes you are correct.

This year wasn't a fluke but the game was. I know that your school has a good football team and history. I was going to be quiet about how oakland barely got by that game and that THE GAME was a fluke but, I was just tired of seeing your player, and your fans saying that oakland just killed Franklin. So you drawed the line.

You both are idiots. OP, you never played the game so how do you know what anyone can block out. 2p your team and fans are as classless as you are. It is against TSSAA rules to blow horns period. Your fans did it against us and probably every one else. You always got the calls and everyone who has been around knows why. Your coaches are classless. They taunted our coaches and our players both times we played . Your team used to have some class, but they are Riverdale trash now. Notice how no one from the region except Riverdale is giving you congrats. It is because they know you won way too many games on CHEAP calls by paying the refs. My son's buddies loved playing for Rickey at Riverdale. I think he is too close to the kids to be an effective head coach in football though. He is too kind-hearted and good to come down hard on the ones that needed to be brought down a peg. I know kids always went to him to with their problems . Good Christian man with a heart of gold. Hate that he left Oakland.

Anyone else notice how oaklandpatriots manages to get to the games this year when oakland is winning? The biggest fairweather fan of them all. At least 2worthless supported them all those losing years. Idiot that he is. Boy have we laughed at him. Oakland has played no one yet with any clout. Beat an undefeated team and maybe we will talk. I did notice how your coach calls in every week to the talk shows to hear himself on the air. He is as cocky as it gets and as struck on himself as he ever was. What has he done? Didn't he get run off from BGA? He ran when the talent graduated at MC. He tried to get the Smyrna job after he was "hired" at oakland when he didn't get his "way." Anyone else could have come in and taken over that program and won with it. I think even OP or 2worthless could have. Wonder how Mcdaniel kept it so "quiet" about calling his team out of academics last week to cuss them out for ruining his weekend and humiliating him? Yes, they won but they barely beat a team that is a 5a joke. It is all about Mcdaniel or shall we call him little "napoleon. " He is suffering from Little Man's Syndrome for sure. No one but slick rick would have given him a job at 5a. Lots of parents didn't like that profanitylaced "speech" of his and when he loses the big one, they will come out in full force about his "antics".

I will give you the asst. thing but you know as well as i do how hard it is to get asst. coaches especially with limited openings. Also you can't make up openings so a diversity in subjects taught is needed as well. I just don't understand why you won't back this new guy. do you know him???? What is wrong with taking a chance with a young coach???? every coach in history has had to have a start somewhere. There is no rule saying that a coach has to be an asst. for so many years before they are qualified.... I f this doesn't work out i will want change. does this make you happy??? Remember though that I never said it would be in one year. I think it is only fair to give him at least 4 years just like ferg got....do you not think that this is fair????

We know you don't like this hire.....You think that the only coaches who qualify are from the "marty's army" lineage.

Its not the fact that these guys are from Riverdale or that their not from Oakland that befuddles me. I accept that sometimes change is inevitable, although it very rarely happens for Oakland, in any sport, so I guess I as an alum take it for granted sometimes. But what does does get me upset is that the things that held the previous staff back is just given freely to the new staff, was the administration that eager to fire Ferg? If that was the case, why didnt Butch just fire him at the start and make a statement as opposed to fake pertending that he was being the good soldier and giving him time, when Ferg wasnt even getting a fair shake to begin with.

 

This is no indictment on McDaniel. From what Ive read and heard, he seems to be what Oakland needs. But this is what, his 3rd job in 3 yrs? What's to stop him from bolting again when he sees greener pastures or more money? It will take a few years for Oakland to be winners again, not some 1 year wonder fix, so I hope he realizes that or I fear it will be a short tenure. Regardless, the onus is now on Butch, he made this hire and he always talks about how Oakland has to win in football, so any failure on Oakland's part is on him from here on out, it doesnt have the easy cop out and having inherited the previous staff, so we shall see

I can tell you this.....The old staff was told to ask for help if it was needed...guess what...no one ever asked for more help.....

By results I mean consistant winning.....there were flashes of success i'll be the first to give credit where it is due...but I due feel that the coaches and the players were a little....how do I put this...handcuffed... the players could play with emotion the coaches didn't show alot of emotion...change had to happen....I believe moose was part of riverdale at one time. I don't mean to offend anyone....but at the same time don't offend me with this I want it like it used to be crap!!!! I think that everything will be fine!!!! I'm the one being positive and jumping blindly on board....Isn't that what we should do??? Remain positive...stick by this school??? I am!!! I am also moving forward!!!!! you all should try it

Dont have a problem with any of that except your telling me that only Riverdale coaches are qualified to coach at Oakland. In hiring all these guys, he has potentially run off the coaches he probably needed to keep to make a smooth transition. As a staff, Id put Oakland's former staff against anybody, and yet were retaining what, 2 coaches? And only 1 of those had experience as an HC while the other 3 are being left in the cold?

 

I dont think anyone is scared of Riverdale, I just think there is better way of putting together a staff and a program than filling it up with former riverdale assistants. Say what you want about the former staff, but they were as loyal as any staff your are going to come across.

 

As for supporting the program, I am not going to look down on McDaniels given what his background is, I have always been for letting the results speak for themselves than talk and gossip. But this isnt going to be a 1 year fix like it was at Moore Co, its going to take time to build a winner at Oakland.

sorry...we are retaining 3 possibly 4....I haven't heard the final on coach moose..that will make 4. Trust me.....there wasn't a whole lotta smooth in that locker room to begin with!!!!!!! Loyal or not they NEVER got results....and loved that staff but as a whole as a coaching "team" they couldn't put it together. thats all I'm saying. I don't care where any of these guys come from.

Who is the favorite????? Well I'll start it like I did last year.....until someone can prove that they are better than Oakland.....its Oakland. just like Riverdale was last year.

Sure they lost 7 seniors and I know thats hard to do and duplicate last year's success....but it can be done. I have been part of it before!!!!

Oakland's strength will be pitching. I think there are 4 legit starters that will see district action.

I agree 100% with you, OP. Nothing against Britton, but when you get so many reminders from RHS under one roof then we start to lose the OAKLAND feeling here. THEN you start getting the old R word on everyone' s lips again.

I don't understand why everyone is scared of riverdale?? I'll say it...riverdale, riverdale, riverdale!!!! yeah they have been better than us....alot better over the years. thing is though these "riverdale people" aren't at riverdale anymore!!!!!!! This is sports you want the best players coaches, etc.!!!!!!!!! I don't care who coaches what sport its still Oakland!!!!!!! Riverdale has come close to getting former Oakland people to coach different sports over the years...so what!!!!!!!!! Please come on I am just saying that he could have not been the best selection for the position. What quality wins does he have out of those 7 that says that his future is so bright not knocking this guy but the system is jacked up!!!I bet him knowing Collins was the difference.

To all Oakland fans, students and players,

Those of you who are upset about this hire have no reason to fret!!!! I personally know Mr. Vaughn and Coach Collins, as well as their families. I also know what these men stand for as well. The football team is in great hands!!!! The players are going to be WORKED HARD from know untill the season starts, and probably during he season. They will also be required to succeed on and off the field. No one should worry about the character of this coach or staff!!! Like i said earlier the two men who selected our new coach will not let this program be lead in he wrong direction!!!!
