  1. Let it go.

Creekwood won the game and avoided Marshall County. This thread is history.............or should be.

I think projecting a freshman into college is putting the cart way in front of the horse. The girl made a freshman mistake that she won't likely forget. Hopefully she'll overcome it and become a better player because of it.

Let's move on. The AA state is fixing to start and we're talking about last weeks games. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I'm with you. Its over. Good Luck to all of the teams in Murfreesboro. The Lady Tigers came a long way this year. They were not expected to make it that far. GREAT SEASON.

  2. Ok before all the bolivar fans get to big headed, freshmen are not getting scouted by UT Martin much less UNC. It is illegal, and if it is happening then well we will all here about it here in the next year or so. If this girl was being talked to by UNC then she easily is a top 5 player in the nation. A freshman being talked to by one of the most prestigous schools in the nation, and getting them to drive all that way for one game??? Its time to get over this, we can talk about it in a few years whenever she is a junior.

Did not say one time they made trips to Bolivar to see. You jumped ahead. AAU Scouting.

  3. I had to come back on this one. Yes, I called one game but saw her play a couple more as a fan. Now, when she gets on the University of Tennessee/Knoxville radar, she will have arrived. The only school you mentioned that is a big time program is North Carolina and they are beginning to sink.

She's a good player, but contrary to what you think, I've seen her lose her temper and shoving whether the referee is looking or not is wrong. If she plays or wants to play like that she won't be on UTK radar. And carrying the ball is illegal.

Believe me, she will be on the University of Tennessee at Knoxville radar. Just keep watching and listening. The University of North Carolina is not sinking because if I'm not mistaking I think they are in the top 5 along with UT. I know she is a good player and she is only a freshmen too. This child has played all year banged up. From a broken big toe, jammed pinky finger, severely jammed thumb, a very slight knee problem, and a bruised rib and when you feel like someone is doing something out of the ordinary, then what do you think. She does no more than any other player on the floor. Oh that comment about "push when the refs are not looking" was a joke, but it happens. Ask one of your post players from Waverly that was pushing one of Bolivar girls in the back to get the pass over their head. I told you it happens. If she is carrying the ball, then guess what the refs don't see. They see what they want to see. As far as the comment, she cost her team a trip to the 'boro, that one play did not. There were 3 possessions after that. The refs cost that game for making a critical call at a critical time of the game. They hadn't call all night and decide to call at the end of the game. Granted she shouldn't have pushed her but it is what is or should I say it was what it was. The refs should have talked to both and told them to stop, given both a technical, or let it go because he didn't see what happen before the push. A person sitting on the opposite side of the gym said the ref called a double tech but only one team got to shoot. It was a team lost and everyone could have done something better. When a team win, they win together. So if a team lose, then they lose together.

  4. Bolivar will get their revenge from last year I pick Bolivar in a Blow out

Bolivar has a real BAD taste in their mouth. Not only from last year game, but from the team of 2003 with the last minute buzzer beater. GO TIGERS. We need a little revenge.

  5. Marshall County Tigerettes won the sectional game tonight against Bolivar Lady Tigers to get another trip to the Boro... Good Luck to the Tigerettes and play one game at a time.

Good Luck in the 'Boro. There are good people in Marshall County and good hospitality. Even though we lost, we wish you luck.

  6. Truth hurts sometimes. Thanks for the compliment about the radio. We do have fun, but unfortunately I gave it up after those games. My daughter graduates and is going to college, so I will have two in college and won't have as much time to do it. It is sort of sad though, we've been calling games together for 3 years, football and basketball. Good luck to Creek Wood.

oh, I didn't see the game, but if she got the technical like I heard, she should be punished some how, freshman or not. IMO, she needs sitting until she learns to play team ball. She's good. Really good. But she carries the ball a lot, she shoots ill advised shots, and doesn't play team ball. She could make herself better if she would learn how to control those things. She does have a temper too.

Like you said, you were not there. The other girl was on her when the timeout was called. Therefore, I know she heard the whistle blow, it right there at her. She shoved her when the ref turned his head. She is a freshmen and she DID learn a lesson. NOT TO PUSH UNTIL THE REF TURNS HIS HEAD. As far a playing team ball, she does. She didn't win 20 games by herself. I think she had HELP. When you are the point guard, I thought you were suppose to carry the ball. I thought anyway. As far as ill-advised shots, you wouldn't know if they were ill-advised or not because you don't know the plays. Maybe they were set up that way. They lost and its over. They did a wonderful job this year on making it this far. GOOD JOB GIRLS, HOLD YOU HEAD UP, AND KEEPING PLAYING.

  7. I did see her play against Waverly and she threw quite a few elbows intentionally and was doing some shoving that was beyond the usual physical style play.

Also saw the same thing in the semi final game of the region. Don't get me wrong, she is a very good player, but improving on these things would get her on the radar of big name schools.

Well, well, I'm back. First of all she does not have a temper. When you are on the floor and the defender is pushing and hand checking, as they call it, then she has the right to knock their hands off her. You have called ONE game that Bolivar played and that was against your team, so therefore you knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, SO JUST SHHHHHHHH!!!. No elbows were thrown, but if they were, then the defender shouldn't be riding her. And another thing, she does not even play defends most of the time, so how can she be playing beyond the usual style of play. Like I said, you knows absolutley NOTHING about her so therefore shut up. And as far as a radar, she is ALREADY on the radar of the big name schools. Would you like to know some? Ok. University of North Carolina, The University of Tennessee at Chat, Murray State, and the University of Missouri at Columbia. FIND YOU SOMETHING TO DO BECAUSE YOU KNOWS NOTHING.

  8. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> How did you wind up on a McNairy/Harpeth thread StayStrong?

Isn't that your pot to his kettle? Just sayin'........

I got on this thread because "papatiger" is on every thread talking about Waverly and Bolivar. That how I got on it. ANything else?

  9. Would love to meet you. I enjoy getting to put a face to a name. I would think less of you if you didn't support your child. I did my son when he played on the 04-05 team. My daughter is a cheerleader. It's not about the fans not supporting their teams or kids, it's about helping others and not making it more of a burden when you have the power to do so. I have gone to the ends of the world for mine and for those who aren't mine. But by not playing both games in one night, there will be a lot who won't come to both. Only parents probably.

If you knew me, you would know that I'm 100% for the kids. They know it too! And when someone does them wrong, it really upsets me.

As far as you driving 30 minutes to an hour. Our closest district game is an hour. Most of them are 1 and a half hour. Our district tournament was one and a half hour away. We were there every night because we had to. But this could have been avoided. And that's my point. I look for a well played very, very close game tonight. Come by and say hello. I'll be wearing a blue WQMV radio shirt. I'm 6'4" and have a beard, will be wearing a Tiger hat. Good luck to you guys tonight and tomorrow. I'll be there both nights.

    Thanks! Will do!

  10. The parents will carpool. The problem is the money the schools will be out of having to take buses both nights when it could all be done in one. Like McNairy and Harpeth are doing. Maybe your school has plenty of money to throw out a window on bus fuel and bus drivers.(Which I actually doubt. I don't know of many athletic programs that have money like that.) Waverly does not get extra funding for having to drive busses and pay bus drivers for athletic trips. This comes from the athletic money that has been raised. It has NOTHING to do with Bolivar being a minority school either. So don't make this a racial issue.

We traveled to cheatham county all the same nights that you guys had to travele. Which is another 120-140 miles round trip each night for us. So you haven't made any more trips than we have. Everybody has had to travel to some extent. It just would have been appreciated if the school would have been considerate enough to think of the money the SCHOOL is going to be out of by having to come both nights. THat's the issue.

We aren't the ones who care about missing the Tennessee/Memphis game you are the one that ask for that change not us.

Hey, I like that name, Tigermom. I am a tiger mom also. I got one question. Do you work on the budget committee for the school district? Are the parents going into their pockets to put fuel in the buses? I dont understand why y'all are worried about the fuel in the buses. Our bus drivers are teachers at the school and are probably thrilled to drive the District 12AA Champions Girls and Boys to any destination. Are there not any teachers at Waverly that can drive buses? Once again, WIN YOUR GAMES AND YOU CAN PLAY AT HOME TOO! Oh, by the way, I dont think we are a minority school. You made the statement, "Everybody has to travel." When Waverly get 2 High Profile Players that plays in a BIG GAME, you will feel the same way.

  11. Yes the Waverly fans will get in. And by the way, I'M going to get in, I have a media pass. And yes, we are passing the word around in Waverly. This was all about money to Bolivar when it should have been about the kids. Good luck to both teams. It will be a really good game tonight.

I'm glad to know you will get in and to know you have a media pass. We all also know you will be broadcasting the game. So since I know all of that, I will be there also. I will be on your right, almost at the halfcourt line, in the khaki pants and orange and biege shirt, and on the bottom row along with all of the other people that are blogging. It is not about the money for Bolivar. If it was so, then we would be trying to have ALL of the games at Bolivar such as District, Region, and Substate. We have to either go to Chester County or Lexington EVERY year which is about 30 minutes to an hour away. We, the Bolivar fans, DO NOT OPEN OUR MOUTH BECAUSE IT IS CALLED SUPPORT.!!! As long as my child is on the court playing basketball, I will go to the end of the world with her. You need to fill the same way about your team and stop all of this complaining because it is not going to change. Either come and watch and broadcast the game or stay at home and listen to our hometown broadcast 96.7 fm

  12. obviously McNairy and Harpeth didn't take that into consideration. I didn't realize that your girls play on the boys team too!

You must be talking about McNairy or Harpeth because Bolivar in no way shape, form, or fashion do our girls play on the boys team. But once the game starts, you will think they did. Like I said in my post before, it is all about the Kids. It is obvious that you do not have any kids on the team. I have a child on the team and you will have that name in your mouth ALL NIGHT LONG!!!! I tried to be civilized, but you are beginning to be irritating. LET IT YOU! YOU WILL BE IN BOLIVAR 2 NIGHTS!!!!!

HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS

  13. I hope you guy get better treatment than Waverly did with Bolivar. We asked Bolivar to play both on Friday and they refused. But they had the gall to change game time for boys game to 4 so they could watch the UT/Memphis game. I'm encouraging no one from Waverly to buy anything from the concession stands either night.

Can you PLEASE SHUT THE H*LL UP! Tired of seeing the same thing on every topic you go to. You are on the McNairy and Harpeth topic and you are still talking about Waverly and Bolivar. Good, dont eat the food. If you dont eat the food, then you shouldn't have to use our restrooms either. Hold it until you get back on the interstate or however you go home.

  14. Bolivar refused to do this for Waverly. But they had the gall to ask to change boys game to 4 pm so they could watch the UT/Memphis game.

Can you please give it a rest? Win your games and this conversation would not be happening. Find you something constructive to do. Like it was said in a previous post, I'm shocked that TSSAA allowed that. And like I said, it is about the basketball team. I have a child on the Bolivar's girl basketball team and if I had a son, I would be at that game regardless of where it is and when it is played. IT IS ABOUT YOUR KIDS MAN!!!!!!

  15. Bolivar has enough fans for you guys not to never buy jack for them, you must forgot when they went to state they feeled the whole center up. So dont eat go hungry. and dont forget we have 2 of our top players playing in this game kemp and chism. My thing is, you should have won your games and you wouldn't be going there.

Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Someone trying to boycott our concession stand. That is so small. This is about the basketball teams and not the concession. While people are trying to pass the word around about not buying food from the concession, there are other things that you need to be worried about like GETTING A TICKET/SEAT. We have enough fans in Bolivar that could clog interstate 40, so dont worry about the food, it will all be gone.

  16. I did not mean for my post to come off like the Bolivar player or coach were not deserving of the award and they do not give it their all. To my knowledge, they do not release how many votes each player or coach gets. I am pretty sure the Williams girl was considered for it and she should have been. I figured that their stats were in the same range and Cole got the nod because she played through an injury, McNairy finished 1st in the regualr season, McNairy had a losing record without her, and her being a Senior did help. I know I'm a McNairy fan but I was not shocked she won it. Shocked, was when Willie Kemp didn't get 12AA MVP his SR year.

Bolivar's coach has done a great job but they finsihed where many predicted them to finish. I think that's why Lott won it because they were predicted to finsih around 3rd or 4th. I said before that the Chester Co caoch should have won it because they were predicted last and finished 2nd. SLS, I don't think that is a good way to pick COY but if that is the way they do it then so be it.

I was shocked when Willie didn't get it either. I think that was the year the guy from Liberty got it. I know, I'm a Bolivar fan to my heart and the mother of one of the players. I know she is just a freshmen and she has her time coming to her. Markita is a senior and she was due her recognition. In a previous post, it was said that it was voted on during the regular season and nobody really knew anything about her coming into the season. I just didn't know how it was voted on. I was just shocked and so was everybody on the Bolivar side that she didn't get it. Maybe next year, she can accomplish this goal.

  17. The MVP and the Coach award are for the regular season only. They usually have a tournament MVP. I knew coming into this year that Markita Cole had to be the front runner for District MVP. I don't know her exact stats but she probably averages 14 or 15 points, 5 or 6 rebounds and a few steals and assists a game and she does this playing on a partially torn ACL. Throw in the fact that McNairy is 3-6 without her and 12-4 with her and I believe she deserves District MVP.

I believe Lott got Coach of the year because McNairy was predicted to finish 3rd by On the Ball and I believe 4th by the coaches in the district and they ended up winning the district. Plus, he had to replace alot of production from the seniors he lost last year and McNairy still won the district. With that being said, I think the Chester Co should have gotten the award. They were predicted to finish last or next to last and they end up finishing 2nd. I thought she done a great job with that team this year.

If your frosh did not get Tournament MVP, then that is a shame because she deserved that.

Dont get me wrong. Markita is a great basketball player. And she may be deserving of the award for all of her determination and her hard work, but there are other people that can be put into consideration. She comes out and play her game to the fullest just like the rest of the players do. I just think someone needs to re-evaluate how these awards are passed out. Coach Lott may be deserve his award, but I think there are other coaches that deserves it also. Like I said in my previous post, Bolivar's coach, I think deserved it. He has put in alot of hard work with the girls. They said it is voted on during the season and Bolivar was doing good compared to what they did the past 2 years.

  18. Can someone please fill me in on the qualifications of MVP and Coach of the Year? I dont understand what happen in district 12AA. McNairy came in the district in the #1 spot and ended the tournament in the #3 spot. The MVP award went to a McNairy player and the coach of the year went to McNairy's coach. In my opinion I think the coach of the year should have went to the winning team which happens to be Bolivar. If not Bolivar's, what about Camden's coach. They came in the tournament in the #6 spot and ended up in the #2 spot. I guess the MVP only goes to SENIORS regardless of what they did during the regular season(district games) and tournament. When a freshman is averaging 17 points per game during the district games of the season and when you add the 3 tournaments games to that you get 18 points per game. When a coach take a girl's team from a record of 3-36(?) for the past 2 years and have a record of 18-9, it all sounds like good qualifications to me.

  19. Thursday. 12AA's 1 and 2 seeds going into the district tournament, McNairy Central and Chester County were both upset in the semi-finals by 6 seed Bolivar and 3 seed Camden. That means both Harpeth and Cheatham will be playing teams that finished the regular season 1 and 2.

    #4 Bolivar and #6 Camden

  20. Congrats to the Bolivar Lady Tigers on their first round game! Great Team Basketball!

The Bolivar Lady Tigers are to be reckoned with this year. They have to fight and the determination to win their games. All of the girls played team ball last night and it was a huge success. Keep up the good work and anything is possible.

  21. What are some of the most improved teams across state.

Bolivar Lady Tigers. Last year's record was 1-17. The year before was 2-19. I'm not sure about the losses, but the wins are correct for the past 2 years. The year before that the record was 20-8. This team made it to the first round in Murfreesboro. This year's record is at 15-8 and currently in 2nd place in the district. Good luck lady tigers and CONGRATS TO ALL!

  22. It was very obvious that last year, when you were looking for a coach, that the Boliver program was somewhat disorganized. At theat time a number of people were interviewed for the job without any success. Then your current coach was hired but with two years of some inactivity, the program looked as if it would take some time to recoup. As you realize, playing first year players out of Middle School will take some time to do that. What steps are being taken to make sure this doesn't happen again as this school is known in West Tennessee to have had a great program.

Last year, I dont think we were looking for a coach. Other school were looking at our coach. As far as I know, the current coach has been at the school for about 11 or 12 years. He just recently started coaching the girls about 4 to 5 years ago because the former coach decided to be a guidance counselor. He has been offered other jobs at different schools but decided to stay at Bolivar.
