Brainerd beating  Loudon was the worst thing that could have happened to Central.  Hopefully they now understand they are not good enough to overlook anybody.  With that being said Rockwood has two stud running backs so Central will need to have their act together.  This one has me worried. Could be trap game going into next week.  Just because my blood runs blue Central 31 Rockwood 27.

Hopefully this senior class will push through on Senior night.

Kingston wins again. Close game. Kingston tough at home. Central Offense gets going this week and scores TWO touchdowns tonight. The refs made correct calls against Central. Linemen were downfield. They did miss on the catches though. Meig's kid bobbled the ball on Meig's sideline. Central kid caught the ball on that late incomplete pass. But, still should have won that game. Scheme cost that one.

    Kingston 22

    Central 14

This was a good game last year until late,  I see this game going either way.

I wasn't there, nor did I watch it, but with recent rules to help eliminate concussions the NFHS emphasizes that helmet-to-helmet contact is unacceptable AT ANY POINT of a game. Naturally, there are times it's not caught and we all know it's going to happen. The refs I know give some latitude unless they think the person could have taken measures to prevent it. Again, I didn't see the game so I have to leave it to the discretion of the ref that called it.
Same with the ineligible receiver downfield, some things are caught and some aren't. I agree it happened at a terrible time for Central who was gaining some momentum.
Meigs had a great offensive gameplan and was able to impose their will running the ball, which ultimately was the difference in the game.

Actually, there was no contact helmet to helmet on the play, thats what was called.  I agree with your assesment, and thats what I said would be the key to this game.  Hats off to the Tigers, wish my boys could have pulled this one out.

  4. Game went as I predicted.  I felt the Chargers played well, just didn't catch any breaks.  Hats off to Meigs offensive line, they controlled the game.  I do agree that Offensive lineman down field was a titeus call on Central.  Should have been a closer game.  I also don't know how you call helmet to helmet on a kickoff.  I'm not saying this changes the outcome, but it would sure have made it a closer, more exciting game.

I agree this  game is super important whoever loses will lose alot steam. But I disagree if they lose to Meigs that'll be 4-6 or 5-5 if they lost to Meigs I see 7-3 as the most plausible and if they win against Meigs 8-2 or 9-1. But I'll also be trying to keep an eye on the Mcminn county vs East Hamilton game. I claim both schools bc I went to both schools 2 years each. Underclassmen at mcminn and upperclassmen years at central.

I think Sweetwater is the front runner right now, not saying they are not beatable.  Loudon, Central, Kingston, and Signal are close.  I think each team is capable of beating the other.

I have respected your insight for the last 13 years, however, this is Polk game 2.0. You have nothing to stress about my friend. Central gradually pulls away once the offense finds its rhythm. I have a great feeling.

This is also a reflection of the Tennessee/Florida game Saturday. Tennessee should win it going away. The only threat is history.

We did have problems with stopping the run against Polk, could have been that beast of a back they had.  A typical Meigs team has a big physical offensive line, I'm not sure if this is this case or not, just speculation.  Secondly, our receivers were able to expose the secondary that Polk had this year.  This will be the week that I feel will tell us who Central really is this year.

Where are all these  new central posters coming from lol. Before it seemed like just me and logcabinman

I like the fact they are more voices on the screen.  The Chargers need to be ready for Meigs offensive line trying to impose their will.  This is the theme for me this week.  If the Chargers can deal with this, they could see some success.  Central can't play from behind.  For me, this is going to be a tough out for the Chargers for sure.  Meigs will be physical for sure.  Hoping  for a great night.

    Central 41

    Brainerd 18

Still on pace for a region championship! After a rough game 1 against what turned out to be a really good McMinn team, the staff and kids have turned it around! As I said before, this team will win 8 games and bring home a REGION CHAMPIONSHIP

Sweetwater is a solid team, Loudon has played some good teams tough for a while, just ran out of gas.  These two will be tough.  Kinston game will be a good one as well.

Don't forget that it was Molly and other sophomores and juniors on the team that won a Middle School State Championship. And there are sophomores and juniors on the team that were the second best Middle School team that same year.
They may be a season away, but they'll be phenomenal in 2023-2024.

I agree they will have a great bunch.  Alcoa, may be the favorite to win it all.  GP will be a tough one, but not out of the question, so it is possible they can sneak in this year.  I agree, I will place them in the top 5 for the 23-24 season.
