I know they have a stud rb..I think the region this year is wide open..Loudon,kingston,and Sweetwater should be some good games.
Agreed. This week will tell a better story.

Who did you see them play against? Fulton game was close until a turnover with 3 mins left. Last week vs Clinton was within 14 until the 26 point outburst . Ae is a much improved team don’t overlook them.
McMinn Central scrimmage. Not unless they had some out. They did not stand out at all. McMinn Central, Seqouyah, and Copper Basin.

I'm late to the party on the message boards. Kingston looked good their first two games. But region play starts this week. I know Brainerd had a decent young qb last year. And if kingston doesn't learn how to pass the ball then it's going to be a long season..I'll take the jackets by 2tds this week.
Probably more. Typical Brainard team. Have some speed, but overall I feel Kinston will be fine this one.

Hard to say. The Eagles have only had 1 game and gave up 38 to Alcoa in that one.
The Tornadoes were loaded so it’s hard to judge by that game.
I am guessing Rhea is going to be better offensively than Cleveland. If the defense is a strong suit, I see it being a long night for McMinn. If defense is not, this could be an offensive game. I still give the edge to Rhea.

I see Meigs winning by a lot.

Is Rhea defense better than Cleveland?

It's hard to believe it's been 7 years since McMinn Central made it to the state tournament. I too thought last years' squad would easily make it to Murfreesboro with all the talent and experience on that team. Molly will have a lot of good young talent around her this year, and should be a pretty good team by sectional time.
They will have a good team, but I think Alcoa returns about everyone and GP still has their studette.

This one interest me because the size difference in Cleveland line versus the size of McMinn Defensive line. Can McMinn stop Cleveland? Is Red Bank that good? Always a lot of questions until about week 4.

Not watched the entire Red Bank vs. Cleveland game yet, but from what I've watched so far, Cleveland is a much better team than the final score vs. Red Bank indicates.
How do you see the McMinn game playing out?
-
Any thoughts on this one. McMinn off a rout of Cross Creek rival and Cleveland loses to a pretty good Red Bank squad. What do you think?

This is a turning point game.

Oh we are bad. Our linebackers are nonexistent, O-line looked bad. QB didn’t look like a 3 year starter, granted he didn’t have much time. 4 turnovers(3 fumbles, 1 int). Our D-line did get some pressure but wasn’t making much contact. Red Bank has some good players, #10, #17, and #3 were absolute studs.
Thought this one would be closer. In the whole scheme of things, if you guys had that many turnovers it seems you came out pretty good.

Of course Marty Wild did a marvelous job - he's a Cocke County guy!
He was a good one. That ended up being a special year. Springfield was a new school in its second year. Saturn had just started up and they were a bigger school, but still in AA classification. I think Central would have gotten a State Championship if this had not of happened.

I think I read somewhere that Central scrimmaged York and held them scoreless, which makes me believe that York might be down a little this year, because after watching Central at the jamboree I thought there defense was average at best.
Also heard Central held them scoreless with 1's and York scored with 2's, do know for sure cause I was not there. Heard it from several differnt people.

I'm a neutral party when it comes to the two schools I see mcminn having the depth and skill positions, but centrals defense is better and think their offense will do be pretty well this year. I didnt know for the longest time that central has made it to the state finals before in either 93 or 95 cant remember which but both were solid years and the year they made it to the championship they had a one year coach named Marty wild.
It was 93, Wild did a marvelous job of getting boys on the football field, and he had a monster staff helping him. Mike Newton was the defensive coordinator and they ran the veer offensively.
I'll hold to my thoughts though. If Central's defense can get to Miller and put him on the ground, they can be successful, if not he will beat you in the open field. To me this is the difference. This and win the turnover game. Still going to be a tough task in my opionion. McMinn offense will be better than any team MC has faced in the pre-season.

Should be a good game. Coach Martin is a good coach and will get all he can out of what he has - just like Coach Fitzgerald will. Coach Martin coached my grandson at Meigs.
I think the score will be close through the first 2-3 quarters because of it being the first game for Meigs with a lot of new faces in starting roles, thus "possibly" having more penalties, botched plays, and turnovers. I know very little about Sweetwater other than hearing they return a lot of players from last season, and them having a good running back. This one should be a fun one, but I think Meigs pulls it out because of their physicallity.

Boyd in a big way. Kees pretty down this year.

Central wins this one. McMinn and Bo Cagle are concerned about this game. I don't believe they have been this worried about Central since 2014 and 2015. Central has the momentum and confidence heading into Friday. If Central contains the edge, they'll win it in the trenches.
Central 27
McMinn 21
Pretty bold prediction

Central has played some good ball this off-season and during scrimmages. However Mcminns lines on both side are rather weak but they have some depth on the skills positions and has the speed over Central. But I feel like centrals defense is pretty stout this year. I think the final score will end up looking like 20-7 with Mcminns depth being a little to much for Central
Good predictioin. That depth is hard to overcome. Defense will have to play assignment football and be good tacklers. In 2014 I felt we could win by a couple of TD's, but the depth played into it.

I hope so my friend. Would love to see the boys have a great year.

Alcoa and GP are the picks from the East that I know about. McMinn Central lost 7 seniors with a team that I thought should have been in Murfreesboro last year. MC still has Molly Masingale that will help them win games, but Alcoa and GP will be tough substate for them.

Out of Region 2, I'd have to give Coalfield the nod right now. They lose some skill position players, but if the Bunch kid plays, that'll help their running game balance out with the spread better. Oakdale will lose the Vera kid, but they'll probably be a playoff team again, and maybe go rounds again. Greenback still seems to be about a year away from really being scary, but it depends on what their current coach does with what he has there. Harriman will be an X-factor to watch for in the district. Midway lost an awful lot off last year's despite a good coach coming back home. Sunbright's got a couple decent returning kids, but depth is going to be the big thing with them. Oliver Springs will be in the mix for a playoff spot with a new coach, but I think they're about a year or two away from seriously contending for one of the top spots in that district.
Do you know if Greenback had their full squad at McMinn Central 5 way scrimmage? I was shocked on how down I thought they were.
Polk County @ McMinn Central
in Class 3A & Class 4A

Polk is much better than people think. This should be a good game. MC will have to put Polk in tough positions offensively, creating one on ones on the outside with the passing game. Defensively, just stay discipline and make a tackle, don't worry about that big hit.
