  1. 58-56 Dowdell to the line for 2 with :13 to play. Made both
  2. Oak Ridge is holding the ball. I love it. Bearden is holding strong in their zone.
  3. 51-51 with 5 to play. Oak Ridge on a 10-0 run in last :30. It is unbelievable. Oak Ridge ball.12-0 Run. Bearden is folding like a lawn chair.
  4. 43-35 Bearden with 1:34 to play 3rd
  5. 39-33 Bearden 3:00 to play in the 3rd
  6. 34-29 Bearden with 6 to go in the 3rd. Oak Ridge has not led
  7. 30-27 Bearden at the half. Sounds like a great game. Game is on the internet at prepradio.com
  8. This should be the best East Tennessee high school game in years. No disrespect to the Maryville vs Bearden thrillers this year but this one has more hype. These two teams have been on a collision coarse all season long. Both teams have lost a combined 4 games by a total of 8 points. 30-2 vs 30-2. Looking at matchups I see it like this. PG - Oak Ridge has a heavy advantage with Stephens SG - Oak Ridge has a slight advantage SF - Bearden has an advantage here if they utilize it PF - Oak Ridge - Dowdell is a better all around player than Jenkins at this point C - Bearden has a heavy advantage with Simpson Bench - Bearden is the deeper team, but Oak Ridge has a solid 8-9 man rotation Coaching-both are good ones in their own ways. This is a wash Bearden has the home court advantage - worth at least 10 points Oak Ridge is probably the underdog to most people - worth at least 5 points to Oak Ridge for motivation Oak Ridge will hurt Bearden with it's press If Bearden gets Oak Ridge's bigs in foul trouble early, it could get ugly, if not I'm taking Oak Ridge. Final Score 66-63
  9. I don't think he was putting coach e down. I think he was wishing that LA had tried to hire him.
  10. The cost is $150.00. For more information email me at tntwilliams4@charter.net
  11. I need clarification on the 50% rule. I have been told two different things. Is it just going to effect fall or does it also include spring. Most AAU substates and state tournaments are during the spring. So to say the 50% rule does not effect AAU is not correct if the rule is in effect for the spring also.
  12. Nobody said they were recruited. I just asked where they are from. Your great football team does not need to recruit. The program recruites itself. Anyone that can play wants to play at Maryville. Your team however, is much better due to the several transplants that play on it.
  13. Where is Douglas from? Where is Basile from?
  14. If I'm not mistaken, aren't aau teams primarily operated in the spring time, which is also during the school year. This elliminates AAU. Correct...
  15. The problem that I see for the rural areas of the state is this; Large cities have rec centers for their kids to go play ball just about any time that they want to. Most of those kids will continue to improve at the same level that they always have. The rural areas of the state that are not privied to those rec centers only have opportunities to improve at their local gyms. By closing those gyms you destroy any chance for parody in this state. Dyer County has probably the best following in the entire state at the state tournament. Would they be there if these rules had been implemented two years ago? Probably not. T$$AA may be completely destroying their income without even considering the long term effects of this proposal. As mentioned before by another poster rural kids that play in fall leagues and spring leagues are being penalized by the 50% rule. Innercity schools will dominate the sport even more and the little man will fall off the basketball scene even further. I too can see many law suites filed and probably won by parents whose children who want to play year around and the TSSAA steps and and tries to regulate this. I do see the need for some coaches to back off, but if these coaches aren't working then they don't have a chance. I think more coaches will hang it up as a result of these rules than any one realizes. After all that is one of the reasons, that TSSAA used in implementing these rules in the first place. Any thoughts?
  16. I feel pretty confident that it will as well. I'm just sayin AE is good. They are too young to win a Gold Ball. I think Bolivar will win it again, as well they should. Any team with two high major DI players should win a AA state championship.
  17. You are forgetting that Austin East came west during the holidays and really should have beat Liberty. They missed some big free throws and lost a close game. They are definately on Liberty's level. I don't know about Bolivar or Mitchell.
  18. IrishBBall, I'm taking over a solid AAU program in Lenoir City called Wendy's Elite. We had two really good tournaments last year and will also have a playday and a tournament this year. If you are interested in entering your teams please contact me via e-mail at twilliams@lenoircityschools.com.
  19. Probably David Lipscomb...At this point that is just speculation. They are usually up there with MLK.
  20. I posted on some earlier threads that AE was good. They beat Dyersburg at Dyersburg and if they hadn't missed free throws they would have beaten Liberty. They are good, really good. I think Alcoa and Austin East will make the state from East Tennessee. These are the eight making it to state this year. Austin East Alcoa McMinn Central Martin Luther King Liberty Bolivar Mitchell Haywood Should be one heck of a state tournament.
  21. Oops, forgot about Clinton. As said Oak Ridge wins by double figures.
  22. Last year we had a couple of tremendously successful tournaments. They are guaranteed to be well organized and officiated by TSSAA officials. Age groups will be 10U - 17U. For more information contact Tony Williams @ 865-765-2265 or twilliams@lenoircityschools.com The setup is extremely fan friendly and having the opportunity to watch two games at one time makes the experience a great one for basketball fans.
