1. Congrats to Jackson County

I was a witness and can tell anyone, Jackson County did not try to run up the score at all, things just went their way, 70+ yard punt return, bad kick coverage for the Irish gave them a short field to work on, bad pass coverage with no pressure on the Jackson Co. QB, etc.

And on that Jackson Co. QB, very impressive. does not throw a great ball, but throws patterns 10 yards and in, and lets his receivers do the work, yards after the catch, very impressed with their timing and teamwork. Best of luck to the Blue Devils this season

  3. I hope who ever wants to come in, should realize this, once the new high school opens, the numbers at NE could drop them down to even a 3A classification. that would be a better competitive level for them, or even back to 4A, so clarksville could basically have it's own region, plus springfield.

And Sutherland? Really? does he want to be a coach, or a restuarant worker?

  4. Golfendude, you hit the nail on the head. Coach Jim Snyder at Clarksville has done quite a bit with a team that was supposed to be in a rebuilding year, after loosing an entire starting backfield, and had an unproven defense without it's studs.

To set here one win away from a region championship, a 8-1 record, and headed to the state play-offs for a 4th straight year, quite an accomplishment, so I think Coach Snyder should get some serious consideration.

  5. This should be a good one.

Clarksville's offense has got to get something going, and early. Last week the offense produced one field goal, as the result of great field position thanks to a huge punt return. The offense stalled out against the Knights. Points from a Defensive TD and a safety, you can not rely on those things this week against the Bears.

If the Wildcats can establish a running game, and control their problems with penalties, I like their chances. But if the Bears jump out early, it could get ugly.

  6. This game with be the Saturn of Clarksville Game of the Week, and will be replayed on Channel 9 on Tuesday night at 7:00.

Everyone saying that Rossview could not score on C.A. in the jamboree, remember, they did score, but were called back due to penalties.

    I expect a shoot-out!

  7. Everybody is throwing out all of these big numbers, but I think the difference will be 10 or less. I watched Rossview last week, and the question about the passing game for the Hawks, who knows. They did not have to throw the ball last week, NE had no answer for the running game. But a point of interest, Rossview allowed a lot of completions on short passes to the Eagles. That could provide openings for the Wildcats. I think the Hawks can run the football, and we all know the 'Cats can. I expect a good one, and again, with less than 10 points seperating them in the end.

  8. Will be interesting to see the Clarksville offense. Looked good and strong in the Montgomery Co. jamboree, but that was against a sub-par team, missing some players.

Defensively, I think they may be at even-maybe improved to last year, but offensively, they have to get the timing right with all the new pieces to the puzzle.

  9. QUOTE(greenevillefan @ Mar 6 2007 - 10:10 AM) 826402025This will be the seniors fourth trip to the Boro. They have Whitney Carter, a senior point guard that gets the team into their offensive sets. The inside game for greeneville is their strenght. In their sub-state game they combined for all of their points except 9. Nicole Dickson is a sophmore that can create and score whenever she wants. Ashley Deans(senior) is the other starting post for Greeneville. She will do all the little things that people don't like to do. She always is giving 100%. The wings are played by Morgan Lamons (senior) and Devan Mcyntire (junior). Morgan plays great defense. Devan did not play varsity last year, but she has stepped up and played good defense. Both wings can shoot the three and make big baskets. They have another post in Rachel Collins that comes in and plays big on the defensive end. Greeneville is defined by their defense. This year there has only been four teams to score over 40 points on them. We will have two different style teams playing each other in this first round match up.

Will Northeast play man in the half-court defense? I am assuming that their offense is let Dawn create, score and pass ocassional?

They play man to man basically, and pick up 3/4 court trapping on occasions, but only when they need to change the tempo of the game. If your posts can step out and shoot, that worries me. The Northeast bigs are pure posters, back the baskets, post move players, not real sure about their shots from 12 ft. or away.

Offense goes through Dawn for sure, but not just her create and everyone else watch. There is some dedicated plays for Dawn, but they do get into a offensive flow, but they are always looking to push and run out.

  11. QUOTE(greenevillefan @ Mar 5 2007 - 10:03 AM) 826400379Can anyone give me any input on this team? What style of offense do the play? Will they pressure the offense? Do they like to set up and run a half-court offense? Do they try to push the tempo and score a lot of points?

Northeast will look to run, and take adavantages of all run out opportunities.

Senior Dawn Evans (Sr-committed to James Madison University) will run the point, loves to drive to the basket, but is able to hit the jumper, probably the best shooter on the team.

On the inside, the size advantage will be the biggest strength during this tournament run. Kamiko Williams (Soph - great story about her, this is her first year of organized basketball, family is military, now back in the states), Makia "Mookie" Jackson, they play well with their back to the basket, and are committed to rebounding and second chance points.

Flippen and Bruno come off the bench, and give you quality mins. at the post, and that depth has worn teams down through the year.

I am doing the radio coverage for Northeast for 540-AM out of Clarksville, so if you need anything else, please, feel free. I would also like to get some Greenville info in return.
