  1. Tyler is quick! There is a difference in being quick and fast. An outfielder needs flat out speed to go get it in the gaps especially at the D1 level. Most outfielders in college are tall, thin and run very effortless. I think second will be his position because he is short, quick and has good footwork.
  2. Central will not have any advantage that I can see. Good players will stay focused and not pay any attention to the students. If they can't handle that small amount of ragging they do not need to be on the field, you have to be mentally tough to play this game. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  3. I guess some of the District Coach's don't consider fielding percentages in their voting. What a shame!! When are coach's and players going to realize it does not matter what exaggerated offensive numbers you have, defense is what sets players apart.

Not important but if your being looked at by scouts you are probably doing something right and most likely will make the All District Team.
  5. I think if he does have a position it would be second and his lack of size and speed will keep him from playing outfield. His hitting is average, if he doesn't hit it any better than he did in the four games I saw him you can forget about it. Look at all the batting averages from Central, Polk, and Meigs they are very high so this should tell you something about this district and its pitching. Don't get me wrong I hope he goes and starts and gets drafted but I think the problem with too many of today's players is that they feel they have to go D1 no matter what school it is or they have not done anything. If it were my son I would send him to a good junior college to work on some of his weaknesses then move on to a good D1 baseball school. Let me end with this, I am sure Mr. Roberts feels his son has made the right decision and I wish him and Tyler all the best. They are good people and Tyler is a great student and young man and I mean no disrespect in my observation.
  6. If you think he is a D1 player then that is your opinion. As for Memphis taking a nosedive they were 32-28 last year I believe so they don't have far to go. The last time they won the conference was in 1994. If he had other offers why would he go to a mid major program that is not very good. Concentrating on baseball has nothing to do with talent its either there or it isn't. Roberts has some talent but lets be honest where is he going to play at a D1 school? Please tell me that so I can burst your bubble.
  7. I am not going strictly on win vs losses. Garland has good mechanics and control of his pitches the only flaws are in his stretch he takes too long in going to the plate. However he is left handed and could get away with it if he works on his move to first, to be a lefty his move is not very good. Stealing third should be no problem for opposing teams. He has good off speed pitches and his fastball has alot of movement. I think in this district he is the best. I do like the way Shaw battles people and does not show his emotions on the mound.
  8. I can see the argument but all the Coach's agree on the terms of settling a tie before the season at the district meeting. What is the likelihood your going to have a tie with run differential and record? Hardly ever.
  9. If you have two teams tied it goes on run differential but that was also a tie so it then goes to their record against the next highest team which was Meigs and they both split. So it is decided on a coin toss.
  10. Polk won the toss for those that were wondering.
  11. Having a career batting average of over .500 in this district does not mean anything. I don't know which pro scout your talking about but he must not have been at the four games I have been at. If he is so good why did he not have anymore D1 offers than Memphis that I know of? As a matter of fact there has not been any scouts at these games except for Chattanooga State and they came to see Garland who is the best pitcher in the district by far. Roberts is a good kid but not a D1 prospect! Polk Won the toss.
  12. The meeting is at 1:00 so we should know something soon.
  13. I think he is going to walk on at Cleveland State but I could be wrong. He has good speed but defense and arm strength are questionable.
  14. Did you play at Central? I hope your not looking for a date are you? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
  15. I thought they filmed the movie Deliverance on the Chattooga River in Georgia not in Greasy Creek.. Maybe Coach Hart will let you play The Star Spangled Banner on your banjo at the next Polk vs Central game. LOL /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  16. If they play any of the bottom 4 seeds I say no because they can beat those lower seeds with their #3 or #4 and they will score plenty of runs even if the starting pitcher gives up a few. What does everyone else think?
  17. As you are about me... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  18. Well said. Mexican, I am beginning to like you even though we don't agree on everything. If we could just get Butch & Sundance to quit leaning on that garbage can and relax. When he wears all that blue I can't tell one from the other!! LOL! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  19. So your saying because I didn't hear it it's a lie! My nephew is not in high school so no he was not playing for Polk. If all those are so good why did Coach Hart bring in Coleman to replace Aderhold? As for Rayburn having the best arm on the staff, its alot better than his DAD'S chicken wing I'm glad he got his talent from his mother! LOL!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  20. Yes but he can't pitch every game, you better have more than one pitcher especially at tournament time and like you said earlier if the sun is not shining on him that day Central is in TROUBLE. The law of averages say's that he is due a bad game you don't know when but it happens to everyone no exceptions! Aderhold is good but I think Centrals bullpen is a little thin as is most of the teams. Like I have said the starters for all three teams must go pretty deep in the games for their team to stand a chance.
  21. I think Qualls was acting on his emotion's after scoring and was directing it towards a couple of students that had been yelling at him and some of the others all night. IMHO these two Central students sitting on the front row calling players names out and yelling "you su##" was out of line as well and what's bad is parents was sitting all around them and grinning and laughing at them. If I am a sitting there and some Polk students started that, it would not have lasted long I would have put a stop to it. As for players I know for a fact that Moses was cussing a couple of Polk players throughout the game while running in from left field so lets not start throwing stones. It was a great game and both sides played with class.
  22. I am not a parent of a player and don't classify all parents because of the actions of one or two!!
  23. Some fans thought the batter interfeared with Qualls when he attempted to throw Starr out. The batter never stepped out of the batters box he was just leaning over the plate when he followed through on his swing. Good call by the ump.
  24. I may have to work, don't know yet.
