There is a BIG difference in confidence and arrogance and your previous post is arrogance!! I would have to disagree, you are trash talking and bragging. You like most kids your age will learn with age. Last year should have taught you guy's a lesson but like last year you can't sit back and enjoy the ride. O.K. there catch, take one game at a time and don't start talking trash!! Boyd was not a contender for the AA state championship!! REMEMBER last year when the wheels fell off and alot of it had to do with the trash talking and being over confident. Teams are not going to lay down because you are undefeated, you must play with the same intensity for every game no matter if its Sequoyah or Meigs. The real test will be Meigs because they can play defense as well as hit and they have two solid pitchers. Also you have another game today so don't start celebrating the sweep until the final out!! Let me give you some advice; BE HUMBLE and stay off this board bragging about your wins and accomplishments, keep the trash talking between you and your teammates, the more you talk the bigger the target gets and don't kick a sleeping dog!! Having the tools and being able to complete the deal is two different things. It does not matter quit talking about last year, I said the same thing to some poster about Polk when they were talking about last year. No, I am not an expert but I have seen them play and that was all that was needed. There is no way they could have improved to the point of being contenders even for 3rd or 4th, not in two weeks or even 6 weeks. They just don't have the pitching and defense as of right now but this experience will help them in the next 2-3 years when these young kids become Jr's and SR's.

As I stated in another post quit talking about last year its over and gone!! Neither team has any pitching which is hurting them. From what I am hearing Central is not very good they have alot of young kids also. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

LFO may have been out of pitching since it was a friday game and from the box score it looks like Boyd came back in the 7th! This game does not tell me anything. If your going on games played, Central only beat Sequoyah by one run and Polk run ruled Sequoyah twice I beleive. So if your going on previous performances the mighty Bucs had better hope Prince Charming comes by and gives them a kiss to wake them up from their sleep or it will be Meigs and Polk fighting for 1st and 2nd with the other's sleep walking for 3rd! Qualls is the catcher but he has done pretty good on the mound, not overpowering but has control of two or three pitches and hits his spots and throws strikes. Today should tell us something about Polk playing at Boyd. Good luck to the Wildcats!

I don't know their overall record but I think they lost 3 games in Tallahassee. I bet Coach Hart wished he had went to the tanning bed in Etowah instead of going to Florida to get burned!! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I am a big Polk fan. I have seen them play on and off for more than 30 yrs. as well as McMinn Central, Meigs and some other area teams. As for players I can watch a kid play one game and most of the time tell you what their weaknesses are. I remember Polk when they went to the region every year in single A and AA and they had some great players which you can't even compare this team too. Like I have said earlier I think Polk has the potential to be in the top two in the district easily if; their hitting comes around against good pitching, they play solid defense ex. make all the routine plays and do not lose anymore of their key players to injuries ( Allen,Bean, Beard, Davis, Qualls). /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

What is not a fact? Polk has very little depth, take away any of the three mentioned and who do you have to fill their shoes? Why was the Bean kid playing 2nd against Sweetwater and made the error? Why is Allen having to play about every position in the infield except 1st? I never said Polk got beat but a tie to Sweetwater is an emotional defeat, I am sure they will probably win but baseball is a game of confidence. If you let a team beleive they can beat you they will. I am a big fan but I'm realistic I know what their weaknesses are and I know that some of the players and fans feel they are unbeatable because of their early success. All I am saying is that the Wildcats are not world beaters yet! I want them to win more than anything but one game at a time. I also know that last year one or two of the players was text messaging other players from other teams the days of the game telling them how bad they were going to beat them, this came from one of their dads and he said it fired his sons team up and yes they beat Polk both games. Do your talking on the field by producing runs and playing defense and not on this board telling everyone how many runs you have scored and who done this and that last year! I am not here to stir up trouble but stating facts! I hope Polk wins the state but if you Polk fans will remember this same thing started last year, everyone was talking about how good they were because of the run they had the year before and then the wheels fell off at Sweetwater last year if I remember correctly. All I am saying is Polk needs to take care of one game at a time and get off this board wanting everyone to tell them how good they are and that they are going to win the district. As for the Sweetwater game your telling me that they scored 6 runs with 2 outs and your not putting the blame on anyone. If Beard was pitching a one hitter and had a high pitch count he must of been going deep in the count on every hitter unless the Coach had a pitch limit of 50-60 pitches which I doubt with him being a senior and a starter. I heard they hit a three run homer to tie the game, it sounds like your best releiver was in trouble. Another thing is a great team does not win 10-0 in five innings then tie 7-7 the next game with the same team especially when the team is not that good. That my friend is a sign of no depth in the pitching and really Polk has no depth at all. A injury to any of your key defensive players; Tanner Davis, Allen, Beard and your season is going to be long one!! I hope this never happens but you never know look at what happened to Phillips and that really hurt your guys. If Phillips was healthy he would have started probably then you had Beard to come in and close. Game Over Polk wins 7-0!!!

Answering the original post. Its too early for either Meigs or Polk to be picked 1st. I do beleive Boyd, Meigs and Polk will be the top three. I hope Polk wins out in the district but alot of things must come together for the Wildcats to accomplish this.

If Sweetwater scored 6 runs in the 7th that means you have no pitching after your #1 and #2 pitcher which is Bean and Beard! If Beard was pitching a one hitter why take him out and why leave Davis in after they started hitting him? As for 77 runs Sequoyah is absolutely horrible from what I hear they missed several fly balls in the outfield that was routine and Sweetwater had about ten error's at Polk, throw in Brainerd and Southeast. Polk should have scored 77 runs against these teams. How many of these runs are earned that answers the real question? I would say 1/3 of the runs are unearned. A great hitting team would have really put up some runs! Polk's defense is not bad but you have a couple of very weak spots that can and will sooner or later haunt you it does every high school team that I have seen. As for Southeast, yes I have seen them play all 4 years that the Locke kid played shortstop and trust me they are not the same team. Southeast, Sweetwater,and McMinn County are not very good at all so I would not be basing my potential on any of these. I disagree on the hitting, Polk has no one that can hit consistently with power and average. Hammonds can be pitched too and from my readings has accounted for most of your runs. Yes, your pitching staff is as good as anyone in the district except Meigs. Remember this district is down as far as good teams. A tie game with Sweetwater doesn't sound like a solid pitching or hitting performance to me. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

IMO, Polk will have trouble with good pitching. Also, their pitching will hurt them as well. The Bean kid has potential but must get mentally tougher to win the big games!!
