I think you hit it on the head.... it really does not matter if your "that good" through the season but that your "hot at the right time" If you burn too hot to early you might burn out before the finish line.... an old golf saying " it's not how you drive but how you arrive" comes to mind.... I've had 72 year old women beat me in 18 holes because they could putt the eyes out on the greens...took um 3 shot to catch my drives but mand when the get within 50 feet of the green you can lay your last dollar down that they will chip and one putt..... and tell you not to worry about that one that "flew" across the green...just go chip it back up here.... Put the finishing touches on your game fellows, because Monday is calling your names and we want you to be ready and able to answer that call!

make that 2 confused people. I thought the cinderella team (underrated) was the one with a horrible season record who everyone understimates and they step up and pull an upset to either eliminate a team that everyone thought would go to regions or get to regions themselves after finishing as a bottom feeder in their conference. Maybe my definition of underrated is askew.

there may be a limit as to how many can be elected from each team as well ***added...come to think of it there would have to be a limit or each coach would select his own team for all 9 spots...and we would have a mexican standoff!

I think, if I'm remember correctly, that when you get to tournament play the pitching rule changes from 1 day to sitting out 1 game... Of course if the pitcher threw a complete game with a high pitch count, no coach in his right mind would ask him to throw the following night as well...he might get 1 or 2 good innings but then your going to run into the problem of knowing the right time to bring in the relief guy. One pitch too many could be the one that goes over the wall! Ask one of the "real umps" that cruise around this board, they will know the tournament rules better then me...

Single7...there is an old Indian Proverb (American Indian and not Dobyns-Bennett Indian) that goes like this: You can please some of the people all the time (you gotta love these folks!) You can please all of the people some of the time (you really doing something good when you accomplish this) But ( and there is always a butt in the mix) You can't pelase all the people all the time! (after all you are only human) Just be consistant and you will please the most people, the most time! A close call will make half the crowd scream at you and the other half love you, You've got to give them that much room for their passion of the game. If you've been consistant with your judgement calls on strikes and balls from behind the plate they will be more apt to trust you on the close calls at a bag as well. Even if they dissagree with your strike zone the first inning or 2 if it stays the same the entire game and does not move around they will appreciate you for that before the game is over and you will have earned both the players and fans respect. The biggest problems I see happen with fans riding umpires seems to always start over a moving strike zone... get it the same no matter if it is wider then Joe Cool's when he is behind the plate and you can shut the complaining crowd down to some degree...you will begin to hear " at least he is consistant and we can deal with that!"

Tell us you didn't offer to help him pull it out???? He might be a christmas BaaaaHummmBug and still has 12 shiny reindeer up his butt! That could make for a grouchy umpire no doubt! On a good umpire note we had some of the best I have ever seen the last 3 games...no players, coaches or fans getting really nasty over calls. When the calls are good there is just not much you can say. Consistancy from the umpire is usually enough to keep everyone happy in the game.

DB is certainly hot with those bats right now. they have 7 homeruns in 3 district games. As a team DB now has a total of 40 homeruns this year. Keep those bats alive guys!

I agree plowboy2. Db is one of 5 teams coming out of East Tennessee that has a good chance to be at State. Of course I would love to see DB make it to Murfreesboro this year, but I've seen Wm Blount, South Doyle, and Science Hill all play this year and they are all great teams with equal opportunities. Give us some good games guys, while you make a lifetime of memories. We can hardly wait!

There you go catsbackr. That is the rule put in there to cover the lack of a specific! Bravo. I had forgotton about that until you listed it here. They are right in saying that there is no rule that says specifically that the fielders cannot throw a ball around while a coach is visiting his pitcher on the mound. But here it is plain as day.. if the rules do not spefically say yes or no on a subject the UIC gets to decide. Does not get any clearer then that.

Banning you from the game did not prevent you from continuing to embarress the good folks at Farragut by jerking every team out here. Please do post every comment I made in here. You are the only person that I have posted a negative comment towards and I will continue to do so as long as you attack me, or my team or any other team where I have friends playing. I lied in Knoxville for year and have friend with kids my age playing on several teams down there. I support them and follow there success closely. I applaud Farragut for their success over the years. You on the other hand are a pimple on the face of Farragut. It is a shame coacht allows you the freedom to roam this board and spit out this trash continually. You are simply a brat that needs to grow up and learn some manners.

Your comments about Maryville beating Wm Blount are just one more instance where you have to jump in and degrade with insinuations. Insinuations are merely a "clever" way of trash talking... you were suspended from your school sporting events this season and the only thing you have ever said about it was you felt bad because you could not go to the baseball games because of your actions. Not once have you admited that what you did was wrong... you are simply sorry you got caught. You are full of hatred and it pews out of your mouth every time you open that filthy trap. Several threads in the last 3 months here have been locked because of you and the constanst stirring you do on these threads. You come here only to harress others and it does not take long to realize that the few times you have said something meaniful it was followed by bragging and trashing talking within a day and usually within hours. I think that is the true definition of sportsmanship WBMD83. Gracious in winning and gracious in losing. I just never have been able to understand how people can think that by bashing other teams they will look like a better team. But perhaps I was brought up with old fashion values that all people deserve respect. Whereas todays teens hate everyone. Just because you beat the team I cheer for in a sporting event does not make you a trashy team... but if you open your mouth to slander and trash talk then in my oppinion you are a pile of beetle dung.

The question remains however whether or not trash talking either on the field or from the bleachers or on this board is a classy act? It is one thing to be upset because you lost a game (and very understandable to be upset and dissappointed) it is an entirely different thing to verbally degrade another team, or the umpires while your ranting about that loss.

A coach can go to the mound and not pull the pitcher...or wait and pull the pitcher after the pu walks out to tell him "time up" so can a first baseman make tosses to the second baseman for instance until the pu comes out and then the coach say well blue, I can't talk no sense into this lughead of a pitcher of mine so I recon I will just swap him and the first baseman. what the difference in throwing a ball in the air and throwin it on the ground while the coach "visits the pitcher on the mound".. at that point only the coach of the team in the field actually knows whether or not their is going to be a pitching change..assuming of course its his first mound visit that inning.

Naw we just got to go play one in the losers bracket and then come back and go at Sci Hill again.. Man what a game it was though...back and forth the whole game. We knew Sci would be tough because of all the losses during the regular season, and they avenged them tonight. But a better ball game you could not have asked for. I pull my stats out and give you play by's but my sleeping pill has kicked in and I would not be able to see that book tonight...lol just trust me on one thing, it was a well played game from the opening back to back homeruns from Lane and Trent, down to the last go ahead homerun but SCI Hill. Fantastic sportsmanship the entire night. 2 classy teams and we have to go at it again with them if we can win our next game against South Sullivan to get back up there and face them again.

Well Science Hill mopped the field with DB today... we knew 4 straight wins over them in the same season was just asking too much. They are a fantastic team this year. But they made us stop and take a long hard look at out team again and that is a good thing...maybe we can get them the next time around! Lenior City is just amazing us all. You know that cinderella teams can march right up and collect the jewelry if they want it bad enough...and LC is on a march right now!
