1. QUOTE(The_Alliance34 @ Apr 17 2007 - 04:05 PM) 826439584pretty good news, i hadnt heard of him until someone menitoned him earlier on here.

"IF" there were truely an "alliance" , Hampton would give tihs kid to Cloudland, you know, where the need is. This "transfer" can be nothing but trouble for the dogs!!!

2. QUOTE(Storm55 @ Apr 17 2007 - 09:20 AM) 826439224I think what people fail to understand is the Alliance has been in complete control of Region 1-A since 1998. No other team outside of the Alliance has won this conference title. The Alliance is the measuring stick for the other teams. Cosby and Unaka had an unusually good run last year, but it still was not good enough. After being completely dominated in the first round of the playoffs, it goes to show that nothings really changed. They only took advantage of Cloudland being down. Well, this year the Alliance is going to put a stranglehold on the title. It will stay with the boys in blue. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Storm55/King, you better watch those big "CHECKS" you are writting, Robbie and the boys are the ones who will be held accountable for your "WRITTINGS"!!!!! You know the old saying, "don't write checks your a_ _ can't cash" ask pujo, he knows what kind of limb your putting the staff and players out on!!! Go a head, ask him, he will pull no punches!!

3. QUOTE(zebra25 @ Apr 15 2007 - 09:57 PM) 826438210CHS has great players and discipline so they shall once again be at the top looking down at the rest of 1a.

They will be looking down, alot, I'll give you that much. Robbie and Co. had better have "THICK" skin I know this for a fact!!!

4. QUOTE(Storm55 @ Apr 14 2007 - 02:58 PM) 826437464Discipline is something we definatetly have at Cloudland now. So far, Robbie is doing an outstanding job. Good training in the offseason will translate to our return to the top.

Not with the coaches stabbing one another in the back the way they are. This will filter down through the entire program. Things are not as they seem on the Roan!!!(smoke and mirrors)

5. Turbyfill might be a gap filler between Keith and Lunceford. However the reason he is trying so hard on offense is he dont trust Julian with the defense. Robbie knows failure is eminent but at least he has Julians defense to use as a scapegoat, when the highlander faithful come calling for his resignation and Lunceford's return.

Thats an insight I have not heard, however, I have heard that they do not see eye to eye on things. Maybe Julian knows that his defense is going to have to be that much better with the offense that they are running. Who has already started a poll with how far into the season it takes them to abandon the spread offense? if the spot is not already filled, I'm taking one game.

6. I agree pujo although its a great offense but I dont think cloudland has enough talent at critical positions nor speed as far as that goes to run a spread offense.I would love to see it work but I just dont see it happening. If you ask me thats not cloudland football ,you got to be able to run as well as pass maybe if they try mixing it up a little more it would be more successful.I think robbie should concentrate more on passing defense and our kicking game thats what has been our downfall all these years it killed us against ezell, boyd buchanon and also against cak.I think we could have had three state championships if not for our inability to defend the pass.im sure someone will disagree but thats my opinion. quote name='pujo' date='Dec 5 2006 - 12:46 PM' post='826289849']

I like what I'm hearing about the kids and coaches working. Thats a step in the right direction. As far as the spread um out and throw it kind of stuff, it really sounds great ,but alot of people don't understand, what do they think Jellico and Grace runs. Some teams are suited for this and some are not,you just have to go with the type offense that best suits the players you have.Harriman had the same style and their inability to run the football costs them two years straight against Hampton. When you get in the red zone, you better have some type of running game.Another thing ,the youth club team I helped with would be perfect for this style of offense, but we don't even try it, Why would we if we are beating everyone 30 to 0 every week. I really doubt any of our youth club teams will be running this kind of stuff, we could probably get good at it because we have alot of good skill people. But our team is the kind of team ,you could run about anything with. Very few 1a schools have the tpye of atheletes it takes to be sucessful with that offence.I hope it works because I wouldn't mind seeing our little team in this style in a few years. My guess is ,it may not look so great at the first and people will be screaming, I hope the coach has thick skin.If people will stand back long enough ,he might just make it work. The one thing I like is, I think he's going to go at it extremely hard. Patience is the word of the day. I guess time will tell.

I hope the Robbie is working hard, and has faith in his offense, because I know for a fact that two of his coaches do not. I heard two of them talking at dairyland, just eating a few seats over and they do not seem too impressed right now. One of them was someone who seemed to have a good idea of the offense and what they were not going to be able to do out of it. Now if that is a staff divided already, I'd hate to see the mess up on the mountain if things do not work out. Are the assistants already putting in applications for robbie's replacement. Out of curiousity, who would be the next in line for that job. Could Turbyfill be filling the gap for the return of Lunsford once his son graduates. Are his assistants setting him up for failure to ensure the return of the 'Prodical Son'. DONT PUT IT PAST THEM.

7. QUOTE(cyclonedad @ Apr 6 2007 - 11:11 PM) 826431761Last time I checked EHS was in Carter County, at least I still pay county and city taxes!

PLEASE,PLEASE, you are either in or you are out ! Don't just claim being part of good old Carter Co. when it's convinent. Everyone knows that if it were "DO ABLE" the County would disown the City and vice versa! Don't try to suggar coat cyclonedad, it's not becomming of you!!!!!!!

8. QUOTE(goalline08 @ Apr 9 2007 - 12:19 PM) 826433046Good player, but does he have what it takes to lead the unaka on that side of the ball. If that is true, he should be leading them in the weightroom right now. Not in how much he is lifting, but in how the team is lifting as a whole. Good players are not always judged by how good they are, but if they make the players around them better. I don't know him well enough to know if he is that type of player or not. I can't wait to see what he does this year though, and the team as a whole for that matter. I've heard some good things coming from Highway 91, but the proof will be on the field. Any word on how they are doing lifting right now?

No word on the weightroom, just wondering.

9. QUOTE(FOOTBALL CRAZY MOM @ Mar 25 2007 - 12:58 PM) 826422113IF you live in upper east Tn. where have you been under a rock? Estep was selected 1-A ALL STATE LINEBACKER, DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR IN CARTER CO. AND HAD OVER 150 TACKLES. LAST YEAR AS A JUNIOR

Good player, but does he have what it takes to lead the unaka on that side of the ball. If that is true, he should be leading them in the weightroom right now. Not in how much he is lifting, but in how the team is lifting as a whole. Good players are not always judged by how good they are, but if they make the players around them better. 10. QUOTE(whirlwind @ Apr 9 2007 - 10:58 AM) 826432979Listen, Turbyfill is not that bad he just wants to be another losing cowboy in the no win Rodeo that is CLOUDLAND FOOTBALL. Who cares if he stabbed Keith in the back, he did Daddy Lunceford too!!!!!!

Touche!!!!!

11. QUOTE(The_Alliance34 @ Apr 9 2007 - 10:37 AM) 826432960why do you all think that turbyfill is so bad?

Its tough to respect a coach when he was consistantly cutting down his head coach in attempts to take his job. He may be a good man, but I personally heard him, along with a few other coaches on that staff, do this on more than one occasion throughout the season last year, while talking to other people. I have never witnessed any coach do this and be successful. If anyone else has, feel free to name the example, and don't try lunsford, because all he does is threaten to take another job, he has never stabbed anyone in the back. That along with a whole sale change in offense, sounds like a coach try to put his stamp on his team, while stripping it of its identity. Seems like a shot in the dark to me.

12. QUOTE(crazzyness @ Apr 9 2007 - 09:52 AM) 826432913Your right. They might be even worse. Especially if they run a pass heavy offense like I've heard. If they do that, they'll be just like another Jellico, except with a better defense.

No, it would be even worse than Jellico. Atleast Jellico had a QB. They were also able to beat cloudland, @ Orr field, with him watching them march right down the field in the last minutes to win the game. Don't be a copycat coach just becuase they beat you with that offense, it sounds like something a grasscutter coach would do.

13. Maybe you are speaking for yourself. :) And molesniper, they make color films now. :)
Yes they do ,but the oldies are the goodys, and old molesniper seems to be typing thought jaring truth. Keep posting mole everyone seems to love the way you put your theatrical twist on things.(well maby not King/Storm55)
14. This region should belong to Hampton this season, as far as the next three, its all guess work, I think both Cloudland and Unaka will both be improved, Cosby should be about the same. The team I'm expecting to be something special is from Cloudland and its a few years away.
Word on the grape vine is the majority of those 8th graders everyone is counting on will play basketball only, and if Ned Smith is still there who can blame them? Ned is proven, and these parents seem to think there could be something special happen on the hard wood. Who could blame them?
15. QUOTE(Storm55 @ Apr 6 2007 - 08:22 AM) 826431223Gary Keith is still in town. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Gary Keith is a good coach and futher more a good man, it would be wise, very wise to keep him very close his services may once again be required.(better hope the fience is mendable)

16. QUOTE(HAMPTON @ Apr 4 2007 - 09:56 PM) 826430313Here is where everyone will place in the Conference.

1st ( Hampton) 10-0 or 9-1 occurding if they can get by Johnson County.

2nd ( Cloudland) 7-3 most improved team from last year.

3rd ( Unaka) 6-4 will be improved also.

4th ( Cosby) 6-4 lost alot of talent from last year.

5th ( Jellico) 5-5

6th ( Grace Christian) 4-6

How did you come up with these numbers? Cloudland? Way way too high, fourth at best most likely fifth. pujo, rank them 1-6, use facts as to why for each finish. Remember don't let King/storm55 play on your heart strings, YOU have earned a lot of peoples respect on this board, call it like you see it,leave emoution out of it. Looking forward to your response.

17. QUOTE(Storm55 @ Apr 6 2007 - 08:19 AM) 826431220I hope everyone keeps talking like this. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> This is the greatest thing that you guys can do for these boys.

Pujo, I know they play Avery and Mitchell. Chuckey Doak is also on the schedule. It won't be as bruising as last year.

Oh don't worry I've got a feeling they will for a long long time to come! On the talking part that is.(pujo knows)

18. Ladies and gentlemen, look out for a new and improved football program next year. These boys are working their tails off. We are going to be a very physical football team next season. Once again, Cloudland will be the most feared 1-A football program this side of bulls gap. I fully support our new head coach. Everyone that is a fan of Cloudland football should get behind him. He's going in the right direction! Whoo!! :P

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!! I was not able to attend last years Cloudland vs Unaka football game, but I dang near caught a cold when all of roan mountain collectively sighed at the end of that game. You knew, at that very second, your progams done. You can try to convince all of 'the alliance' any thing you like, but you know. In the bottom of your heart, you know.

19. QUOTE(Storm55 @ Apr 4 2007 - 10:09 AM) 826429658I don't look for Unaka or Cosby to finish second. A lot of people are going to be surprised this year. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> The Big Blue Alliance will make a clean sweep.

I wasn't aware that UH got a football team this because I know you can't be talking about the mess up on Roan Mountain having the ability to compete for anything.

20. QUOTE(Storm55 @ Apr 4 2007 - 10:07 AM) 826429657You obviously have no clue. With hard work and positive attitudes from "everyone". I'm talking about so-called fans and parents, this team's morale will be at an all time high. We will not be down. Every game will be a dog fight.

I'm going to have to go along with pujo on this. 55, you'r "alliance" buddy knows.

21. I've got complete faith in these boys. They have bled and sweat all winter. Talk may be cheap, but I'm going to keep telling everybody that they can gitrrrrr done.
"IF" you believe something that you'er saying is true, does that mean that it is? "IF" you hear your self say something long enough you start to believe it your self? What's that old "saying" that I'm looking for, it's on the tip of my key board.
22. QUOTE(molesniper @ Mar 26 2007 - 10:01 AM) 826422928sounds to me like someone don't like what their seeing.ha ha ha ha ha......................

I'll go with you on that one mole, and add , I'd say theres more than one that don't like what they are seeing.

23. QUOTE(Maynardette @ Apr 2 2007 - 04:07 PM) 826428376Turbeyfill has his heart in this thing, and I think Cloudland WILL improve this year. They won't be "down" like they were last year!

I wouldn't count on that. Turbeyfill better be able to drastically improve this team or Roan Mt. will be "down" on him!

24. QUOTE(whirlwind @ Mar 29 2007 - 10:58 AM) 826425734The watauga conference seems to be upside down, with coaching changes. Hampton wants to follow Unaka's lead (as always) and rehire their former coach Jerry White. So I'll tell you what, while I'm posting I'll fix the whole conference.....

Unaka hired back Ronnie Snavely and Hampton's gonna hire Jerry White, So why don't Cloudland go get John Hyatt, he was as successful as Ned. UH can go get Joe Mc Pherson, maybe he'll quit coaching soccer and finish the job that Tony Gordon couldn't. North Green can relive the days of the great Jerome Woosley. Better yet lets just have a Smokey Mountain Conference reunion and bring back David Whaley and Cosby, as well as Honcock County and Coach Seal. Who needs people like Bud Hazlewood, Kelly Oliver, Len Dugger, Leon Tolley, and Brandon Carpenter, when you can have Great "Retreads" like these.

With all of these coaches coming back into the mix, ole charlie bayless just might have a few more years left in the tank.
