Thats an insight I have not heard, however, I have heard that they do not see eye to eye on things. Maybe Julian knows that his defense is going to have to be that much better with the offense that they are running. Who has already started a poll with how far into the season it takes them to abandon the spread offense? if the spot is not already filled, I'm taking one game.

I hope the Robbie is working hard, and has faith in his offense, because I know for a fact that two of his coaches do not. I heard two of them talking at dairyland, just eating a few seats over and they do not seem too impressed right now. One of them was someone who seemed to have a good idea of the offense and what they were not going to be able to do out of it. Now if that is a staff divided already, I'd hate to see the mess up on the mountain if things do not work out. Are the assistants already putting in applications for robbie's replacement. Out of curiousity, who would be the next in line for that job. Could Turbyfill be filling the gap for the return of Lunsford once his son graduates. Are his assistants setting him up for failure to ensure the return of the 'Prodical Son'. DONT PUT IT PAST THEM.

Good player, but does he have what it takes to lead the unaka on that side of the ball. If that is true, he should be leading them in the weightroom right now. Not in how much he is lifting, but in how the team is lifting as a whole. Good players are not always judged by how good they are, but if they make the players around them better. I don't know him well enough to know if he is that type of player or not. I can't wait to see what he does this year though, and the team as a whole for that matter. I've heard some good things coming from Highway 91, but the proof will be on the field. Any word on how they are doing lifting right now?

Its tough to respect a coach when he was consistantly cutting down his head coach in attempts to take his job. He may be a good man, but I personally heard him, along with a few other coaches on that staff, do this on more than one occasion throughout the season last year, while talking to other people. I have never witnessed any coach do this and be successful. If anyone else has, feel free to name the example, and don't try lunsford, because all he does is threaten to take another job, he has never stabbed anyone in the back. That along with a whole sale change in offense, sounds like a coach try to put his stamp on his team, while stripping it of its identity. Seems like a shot in the dark to me.

No, it would be even worse than Jellico. Atleast Jellico had a QB. They were also able to beat cloudland, @ Orr field, with him watching them march right down the field in the last minutes to win the game. Don't be a copycat coach just becuase they beat you with that offense, it sounds like something a grasscutter coach would do.

Word on the grape vine is the majority of those 8th graders everyone is counting on will play basketball only, and if Ned Smith is still there who can blame them? Ned is proven, and these parents seem to think there could be something special happen on the hard wood. Who could blame them?

Gary Keith is a good coach and futher more a good man, it would be wise, very wise to keep him very close his services may once again be required.(better hope the fience is mendable)

I was not able to attend last years Cloudland vs Unaka football game, but I dang near caught a cold when all of roan mountain collectively sighed at the end of that game. Lunsford is successfel in anything he does. I can't see why he couldn't help out Hampton's BB. J.C. is never going to relinquish his position to give him a chance, and why should he. J.C. has led the dawgs to the 4th round of the playoffs the past 2 years. theres still plenty of football left in thost ole bones. and i just hope mike lunsford has enough respect for him to not try and take it from him (danglin' NC jobs at him). that bein said, this might be lunsford opportunity to put his stamp on HHS, if he can solve his 'language issues'. after all, two wrongs don't make a right, hampton solved one of them with mcclain.

That's what they say, but i guess only time will tell. Seems to me that if Hampton could keep some of these coaches in-house, they wouldn't be in the situation they are now. How could they let those three get away. could you imagine what they could have done with this years hampton team. Why is it hampton can't get these boys to stay at home?

I can't see that happening. J.R. is a great man, and a good coach, but did he every really win the big one. Did he ever win conference, district, or regional titles? and if he did, was it enough to consider it a trend or a fluke? not sure that he would be the best choice. if he were to get hired, it probably be unaka @ cloudland for the conference. Lunsford, seems to be the logical choice. he was pretty successful when he was with cloudlands girls.

I've stood by the wayside long enough. I have been an avid reader for a little over a year, but have not got an id and posted. but this is getting too thick not ask questions. first of all, this has been a busy spring so far for coaches moving around. is this for sure with ned smith and carpenter leaving? boys. first gary keith, now ned and carpenter. Is coach turbyfield runnin' everyone off? Who in the world is going to coach the boys bb with those two gone? Rumor has it, its kelly olivers job to turn down, but i've heard he won't with the right help....a.k.a. kenneth chambers.
