I think in an earlier post someone brought up the point of working hard, beating the big teams, and then not complaining. This is a great argument. If you look at AAA this year two teams from the west were playing in the state tournament for the first time (White Station and Kingsbury). Yes, I know this is about A-AA, but can someone tell me the last time Houston didnt make it to state since they've had a school or how many times Collierville hasn't been there either? Others might say that the AAA west was down this year, which may be true. Regardless, those two teams did what no one expected them to do. So, I guess that it can happen, whether its a down year or just hard work. According to the TSSAA new classifications, it looks like Kingsbury is actually moving down to AA as well. I think all you can do is work hard or just give up.

Yes, this is terrible. I know exactly how it is, I coached this team from 2004-2006, both girls and boys. I really hope that they get to play. I'm extremely proud of these boys and have been trying to kep up with them all year. Whenever we had road games there was always a bit of worry about whether or not we would all get to the game. If I could help I would, but I teach in Korea now. If, and when they do get to the tournament, I just want to say GOOD LUCK!

So, if all of this goes down as it was written in the article, does that mean that Kingsbury moves down to AA? If so, look out for the falcons.

Oh, please. Great season for Brentwood, without a doubt. Congratulations on your victory. If I were a Bruin player, fan, coach, or parent, I'd be excited too. But ease off the trash talk when they are several factors against you. #1, Bearden and Farragut didn't play Brentwood this year, so we don't know who actually is better. #2, my research reveals that your beloved Bruin senior class lost to Bearden in '06 and '07. Bearden 2, Brentwood 0. That is not domination by Brentwood - they were lucky not to run into Bearden or Farragut on their way to the championship in "their" years. #3, Bearden won titles in '01, '02, and '06. Farragut won in '03, '04, and '07. Farragut/Bearden 6, Brentwood 2. #4, The "National Championship" you claim is skewed. Not even half of the boys teams in America play soccer in the Spring. The most competitive states play boys soccer in the Fall. I know Bearden "won" a National Championship a few years back, and Farragut was either runner-up or won one as well. They too were only "National Champions" of the states that actually play soccer during their season. You get my drift? Let someone else blow your horn, son. Futhermore, line up against Bearden or Farragut and actually defeat them on the field - then we'll give you more respect. Until then, East still dominates. I encourage you to praise your team and broadcast to the world how wonderful it feels to win a championship. However, leave the teams who dominate you out of the conversation. I agree and support what Hoya said: East 6, Middle 3. You're half way to breakin even. Good luck next year.
Wow! I have no dog in this fight, but why are you so angry? Yes, Brentwood did not play Farragut or Bearden, but they did beat everyone on their schedule. Let Brentwood celebrate the fact that they had a perfect season. Neither Bearden or Farragut even made it to state this year, so according to the TSSAA's playoff format Brentwood is the best team. So, if Houston had won the game would you reiterate the fact that they didn't play either of those teams and that Farragut and Bearden are better? Yea, maybe they are better but the fact of the matter remians that neither team made it to state THIS YEAR! Thus, you have no argument.
Let me give you an example of why this is ridiculous. This year LSU won the national championship and did so according to the NCAA format. It just happens that OSU and LSU happen to back into the game, when in actuality Georgia and USC were both playing better football than any other teams at the end of the season. Neither team even played for the national chapionship because they made mistakes during the year that cost them in the end. Now people can argue this point until they are blue in the face, but it doesn't change the fact that LSU is the national champions for 2007. I am not trying to be rude, but I don't understand why you feel that it is necessary to be so derogatory towards the Brentwood team. Bringing up previous statistics, scores, and so forth from seasons gone by really doesn't strengthen your argument and in actuality it seems as if you are living in the past.
To the Brentwood players, coaches, fans, and parents congratulations on an undefeated season and state championship.

Does anybody see this new DII format a bit ridiculous, or is it just me? Why should DII be split up into two classifications? If you look at the smaller classification there is one team that is playing who only won 1 game the whole year and another team who doesn't even play anyone on Saturday. To me, it kind of seems like you don't even have to do much to get into the state tournament.
Now, I realize that people are gonna make arguments about bigger schools vs. smaller schools, but the same could be said about AAA. There are some schools that are just barely over the TSSAA mark for enrollment and those schools are made to play against the powerhouses in order to get to state. Schools in AAA are beginning to step up and learning to play with the top schools. If you don't think so, then tell me why Bearden and Farragut aren't going to be in the state tournament. All I'm saying is that if the TSSAA is going to bend rules, as they have for DII, then the need to set another classification for AAA, or make a AAAA division. I have no problem with them not creating another division, but then DII should return to its former set-up.
Any thoughts?

Well, the schedule changed a lot this week. Milan and McNairy cancelled this week, which sort of left the Liberty coach in a bind. This is the adjusted schedule(note:all games are 25 minute halves with 5 min halftime):
Pool A Pool B
Liberty Martin
Haywood JCS
Lexington Kingsbury
5 pm (Friday) Haywood vs. Liberty (3-3 tie)
10am Martin vs. JCS
11am Liberty vs. Lexington
12pm JCS vs. Kingsbury
1pm Kingsbury vs. Martin
2pm Haywood vs. Lexington
3pm 1st Pool A vs. 2nd Pool B
4pm 1st Pool B vs. 2nd Pool A
5pm Winner 3pm game vs. Winner 4pm game
So... does anyone know how this all turned out?

I think that the Liberty Tournament is this weekend. Does anyone know who is playing and so forth?

Kingsbury is pretty good this year. They are fast and skilled and go at the goal hard. They played CBHS in a really tough game, The score was 3-0, but the game was very competitive. CBHS scored on a scramble in front of the goal just before the half and then scored two in the second when Kingsbury worn down some. The Public schools will have a nice battle this year. Houston is tough this year and should win out with loads of experience and strong players( Lightfoot, Haba, Ondras, Thomas, Dees, Van Cleave, Powell)l, Collierville should get stronger if they get Bonars back, and White Station is pretty good as well. I think having Kingsbury strong will make things even more fun.
Great to hear. I coached them for three years and helped to build the foundation for that program before I returned to grad. school full time. Its been two years since I coached them, but I'm happy to hear someone praise their ability. I'm hoping to make it to a game soon.

I know that neither team is in these rankings but:
Kingsbury 1
MUS 0
-
I saw that Kingsbury lost to CBHS 3 -0. Does anyone know how the game actually played out? I'm particularly interested in how Kingsbury played and anyones thoughts about them.
-
mvm it was a district game
No, its not a district game, not even a regional game.
-
They may not be the best team, but Kinsbury should be very good again next year. They have consistantly gotten better each year and should do the same next year. Look for them to surprise some teams next year.

Kingsbury 2
Central 0

Kingsbury 6
Sheffield 0
Could have been by much more

QUOTE(Bigblue8 @ Apr 30 2007 - 09:35 AM) 826448258[/snapback]Kingsbury isnt not one to watch, Ridgeway has secretly looked into their files and it appears some of them are academically inelligiable. Risgeway scrimmaged Kingsbury and kingsbury didnt perform well at all they got demolished. If anyone deserves to be in State its Ridgeway, they play legal players and with these new players added to the team recently they are goin to have a splended week and perfrom greatly against gtown and wshs.
No, ridgeway did not scrimmage Kingsbury and I can assure you that all of their players are eligible.
-
Didn't Ridgeway lose to Craigmont last week? Who are the the three players and when did they start playing?
-
They are really strong at the forward position. They have two African players up top. One of them (not sure of the number) can dribble around your whole team, but he isn't a great scorer unless he is all alone. He won't usually take shots unless he has a wide open shot. Just try to contain him. Their defense is okay and they have a good midfield. However, they basic play kickball. They send the ball long and attempt to run it down before the defenders canget there. If you don't have fast defenders then you'll be in trouble, might have to bunker back a little. Hope that helps.

Why did Kingsbury drop from the top 30 and Memphis Central move into the top 30? Almost every team that they have played has a losing record and their one loss was to Kingsbury. Kingsbury has played tougher teams and has more wins. Just not sure as to why that happened.
Predictions for A/AA next year?
