This type of question has about as much merit & credibility as asking who is the best waterboy in the state?

A good person- yes,. just not a football coach. Guy is learning how to coach at covington's expense. Covington has the talent , these two years were supposed to be bumper years. Region seems to be down this year as well so maybe can still win a few. Haywood has already lost two -to inner-city memphis teams and barely beat a down JCM team and they beat Dyersburg, Haywoods two wins were by a total of 6 points. Losing to Brighton , he doesn't even know the significance. The Barten guy who was principle should be laid the blame. the football team and community are suffering from his principleship, the academics of the school was left in ruins and on the failure list. Football as you can see total disaster- many pay the consequences of his reign. These are the overwhelming opinions that i am getting from the Covington folk, is it valid only they can tell, but it certainly appears to be. Hopefully they'll get it together

as you indicate- mediocre.. bowling was given a OC team that had finally been successful and they returned to the bottom with bowling and then he jumps over to a talent loaded Dyersburg team and took OC's best player as well, loaded with returning players and talent ,forcast to win it all -didn't even win league. OC regressed- Dyersburg regressed. Given two teams on a platter both teams declined. lets try another one, sooner or later it'll work out . as you say maybe a chance in IA.. it'd be great it all coaches got such optimism. where's the merit.

Well the only coach with a consistent w-l record (in recent memory) for OC vs. UC is Bowling. The coach he used to beat just beat your new head coach. Apathy kills.

I don't recall bowling even making the playoffs at OC and then at Dyersburg he by far had the best talent and didn't win it this year. why should OC be weary.where's the merit

Losing at Obion County was a whole lot easier than losing at Dyersburg. The trojans greatly underachieved this season, hopes were high and they were deflated, expected to dominate with what they had coming back but team was very disappointing, never reached their potential. Not to mention not only were they loaded with returning talent but also took most talented player from a competing school and still did nothing with it. How many coaches would'nt want not only their returning talent but also another schools best player as well, you'd think you'd have a pretty good chance to succeed. I could see why he's a little uncomfortable in Dyersburg.

one take-you look guy in the eye & tell no football coach. also some will carry water for two weeks & say they coached in nfl. initially ? was why leave a 5A for a small 1A school? how about 2-8 & being run off. also said wanted to go to a small town, however apply everywhere possible including very large cities. just looking for place to land and LC balked hook line & stinker

counter take-guy can really coach, give him a chance, he'll have the falcons far into the playoffs in the future. for the most part doing fabulous, successful on/in field/classroom & locker room, lucky to have such a coach, LC adm. got a gem

Don't know much about these teams. Considering picking the upset in the pickems. What kind of game does Cheatham play? What type of offense do they run, do they have any outstanding players.etc. I know FW likes to throw & has one or two decent players.

This week there will be a Region 5-3A battle between the Page Patriots & the Spring Hill Raiders. Both of these teams are just 1-GAME out of the playoffs with two weeks to go. In week ten both teams play road games against the two teams ahead of them for the time being (Creek Wood & Cheatham Co.).

 

This is a game that will decide who plays for a shot at the postseason in the final week of the season as opposed to who will just be playing for pride next week. It is "Senior Night" at Spring Hill. Page is feeling good about themselves following the big win last week against Montgomery Central. Spring Hill is on a slide right now but they do not want to send their seniors out on the losing note at home.

Haywood will be in the playoffs..play has been erratic but they have the players. Should Dyersburg win the region they will have their hands full with region 8-aaa teams with possible 2nd meeting with the Tomcats .Tomcats will possibly have to play Mitchell or Sheffield which are Always Tough to beat ,but they seem to always play Memphis teams very well. Sheffield and Michell are to be Highly regarded no matter their oppontent. Tomcats could still get in as #2 seed in region 7-aaa should DC falter but they are playing with Enthusiam,Desire,Heart =Choctaws are on a Mission this year. GO TROJANS! GO CHOCTAWS!

If Haywood loses to Cov they will not finish higher then 3rd. If they finish tied with DC, DC will be seeded higher because of the head to head loss. Don't look for them to finish higher than 3rd. Again

I did hear some comments from the HC faithful about current players in uniform being in the stands during the game. I do not blame your head coach for this. A head coach should not have to look in the stands during a game; however, some assistant was responsible for these players and should have known where they were.

I disagree with your take on this, it appears they have no discipline from the top. The HC should not tolerate this. It is total disrespect to the HC, the team, school, teammates, school system & their community( but evidently they don't know any better). It is a reflection of the lack of discipline (appears to be absolutely no discipline in the program). That is the #1 reason they are so terrible despite all the talent they have. An assistant coach is fighting a no win battle if the HC allows this type of behavior to take place. You're right HC should'nt have to deal with this type of activity. And he wouldn't have to if he has taken care of business on a daily basics.

I seen JCM at the Haywood game #1 and it was apparent they had little or no discipline, direction or organization. Actually no football knowledge was displayed as well. OC not a clue about offense..

Athlete wise I think JCM has the best (but with little or no leadership,discipline,organization &/or lack of football knowledge) it does'nt show.

Tomcats went from looking pretty good to possibly missing the playoffs. Now fighting for 3rd or 4th place. tomcats were emotionally drained after win over FW, a game they did'nt feel they would win & probably should'nt. Several big penalities and bad punt snaps really hurt FW. Did'nt play well against DC. Tomcats must get it back on track this week if going to make the playoffs. Look for Cov to upset the Cats. They've had two weeks to prepare plus fall break. Cov still has enough talent to win despite coaching situation. Haywood has too much talent to miss playoffs but can happen if they don't take care of bizness. Hate to say

I like this post Yanker. I am behind you all the way and hope that you win out your region games. I met Gavin Hardin after the game the other night. I thought he was a good kid with a lot of leadership potential, but unfortunately is unguided by the staff there. Maybe you should go help coach! With your spirit and support they have to get better! I agree yanker, as I stated long ago in an earlier post before the season. JCM's problem is not declining #'s, lack of talent, injuries or anything else. It is lack of leadership, football knowledge, direction and work ethic. JCM has the best talent in west Tn. They have better athletes than anyone on their schedule. Their OC has not a clue what he is doing and it's unfortunate the kids have to pay as a result of this poor leadership.

FW' s defense has'nt stopped anybody all yr so they'll have to outscore SS to win. Always seem to have problems stopping a good running team. Thompson's offense is often erratic & unorganized(many penalties) but on a good night they can put up points. Very inconsistent. Kicking game is also suspect. If they can avoid mistakes & turnovers they will have a chance. Must stop SS running game- no secret.. If they do FW 27

Do me a favor please tell me more how Mr Marshall runs our football program. That has to be the funniest thing I've ever heard. I guess when we were at East we phoned a friend or used our life line for information to find out what to do from coach Marshall. I'll give Mr. Marshall his due he's got a gold ball but who's standing over Mr. Wolf shoulder and why did he change his entire offense last year in 3 days before he played us to a stack eye. If there's any upper level influence I think it's north of Munford.

First, I don't recall marshall winning a gold ball, i know not at munford

Second -perception is usually wrong- Marshall was thought to have a disciplined program, I've heard from kids that played for him say the opposite- that the weary & mills kid got away with everything no discipline at all.(could be inaccurate but seems reliable source- yrs ago)

thirdly-Randall could coach circles around marshall, no comparison, you can see what he & the previous 2 coaches were capable of.(0-30)

as far as brighton- word is wolfe stays under shipley's desk. no other reason would he be there
