1. QUOTE(DaCoach @ May 18 2007 - 01:12 AM) 826461744Could someone give me a report on how they are doing this season. Head Coach Tommy Pharr was a good friend of mine when he coached at Monterey back in the early 90's. Please tell me about their team, players, any that could play at the college level, who their up against, etc......

I know one thing you can take to the bank and that is if Farragut has any tallent at all, Coach Pharr will get the W's out of them because that man can flat out coach baseball! I'm afraid that some college will take him to the next level as a coach. He wins, He Wins WITHOUT cheating, and He Wins with class,

I thank you for any information that you can give me on this and if you could, tell me what his record is Farragut and how many championships have they won, lost, made the final 4, sub-state, etc.......

    Thanks again for your help!

Sir, Farragut did not make it out of District play.

  2. QUOTE(quittalkingandplay @ May 17 2007 - 11:49 AM) 826461109The question was not why did Joyce not pitch on Wednesday night, but why is the Kingsport coach skipping Joyce on Friday night when it would be his "turn" to pitch and instead pitching Burton on short rest (the reporter on the Kingsport local sports website says that Burton pitched on Monday night against Morristown).

What did Farragut do last year? That is what Ritz is doing this year. What ever it takes to get to the Fling using the one that will get him there. Joyce will pitch in reserve if needed.

  3. Science Hill plans on starting Hoilman (according to the press) against WB. He has not pitched since last week in districts. The Toppers still have a few innings left in Byrne, Anderson and Howell (if his ankle is better). I am hoping WB can win this one. My advice is hit them early and play good defense. LOL to WB.

  4. QUOTE(DBGRAD70 @ May 16 2007 - 08:55 AM) 826460139Best advice is to ignore "no value" comments like the above. Treat him as if he said nothing - which is absolutely the way it is.

DBGRAD70 you are right. I think that I'll let this sleeping dog lie. I don't want the fleas that might jump off. One thing is for sure the game tonight will be a good one. Come watch!

  5. QUOTE(ihavenofriendzz @ May 16 2007 - 01:58 AM) 826460022I have seen the thread. Plus me and braves were never the ones to start the trouble Couldn't stand the fact that DB lost to Farragut at something else?(not trying to start a fight...just wondering) I did have a comment on this thread very early on before you got on it. It was about DBmom talking to a Morristown West fan. It was very entertaining.

1moreDBmom may have talked to a Morristown West fan, so what's the problem with that? I do not believe that it should have been entertaining. I talked to several Morristown West fans, in fact, I have family in that area. Morristown West fans and players showed a lot of class in that game. Morristown West had nothing to hang their heads about. They played a great game and fought hard. They had a good pitcher and I wish all their Seniors luck on playing at the next level.

And what does Farragut have to do with this thread? No one has mentioned it but you! Farragut is no longer in the picture. SO LET THE SUBJECT DIE!

GOING WITH THE VIBES! ROLLING WITH THE TRIBE!

  6. Science Hill may see a pitcher they have not seen or faced before. Hope that his game is on and the defense is behind him. Hope that offense will start early and hold for the game so DB can win. A DB win would be sooooooo sweet. Yes, the BOYS are rested. If anyone had seen the game last night they would have seen it! Good luck to all.

  7. What's this???? This thread is suppose to be about DB, Your thoughts? Instead, it sounds like a bunch immature ramblings because some people can not take any criticism. Get a life!

  8. DB did a fine job getting to Regionals and I think they will TCB next week when it really matters.

Hats off the the Maroon and Grey!

  10. QUOTE(ihavenofriendzz @ May 9 2007 - 09:34 PM) 826455911I'll just say what other people have been saying. Anyone can win on any given night. Also I am not really surprised that LC has beaten Farragut in some sports. I was just saying I never thought I would say they outplayed us. You can win games and get outplayed. Congrats to LC on a decent post season, knocking Farragut and Bearden out is big.

That was very well put ihavenofriendz. A really nice, mature statement. Congrats to LC on the win!

  11. QUOTE(ihavenofriendzz @ May 9 2007 - 12:34 AM) 826455123State Tournament appearances and Championships in last 5 years.

    Farragut 5 appearances 3 championships

Dobyns Bennett 0 appearances 0 championships

    Facts hurt don't they?

    Sectional Losses since 2002

    Farragut 0

    DB 3(all at home)

Farragut vs. DB since 2002 5-0

all that is according to the stuff on coacht. DB= Not as good as Farragut.

Facts hurt don't they? When you look at it on paper Farragut is clearly better. When they play on the field Farragut is better. When you think of good teams who do you think of? Farragut. You can't blame that other thread being closed on me. If you start a topic and expect no one to make a comment about then it would be pointless. The comment wasn't even that negative. It was a fact. Plain and simple. DB talked trash all of last year then they lost and made excuses. End of story. That is what happened. Farragut lost to Lenoir City this year in the district tournament yes. Farragut people making excuses nope. not at all. If you think by me telling what happened at the game is making excuses then be my guest and take things out of context and twist them around and pretend I meant it however you want.

What's this? Nana-Nana-Boo-Boo? It sounds to me that someone needs to grow up! Sounds like you are making those...........EXCUSES to me! Like I have said before, anything can happen during TOURNAMENTS, but you can not let things rest. You keep things stirred up! No wonder Farragut gets this "SNOBBY" appearance because you drive it to the ground talking trash about everyone else. Waving it like a FLAG in everyone's face! People with "CLASS" let it go and go forward in life. See you next year!

  12. QUOTE(bravos2007 @ May 6 2007 - 08:32 PM) 826453080now i have a ? what does all of this matter? Its not goin to help either team in the tournaments to say hey we should get a redo cause we were able to beat such and such team in the regular season u can lose every game and still win state these past games are just practice. But its fun to watch

You ar absolutely right! It is TOURNAMENT TIME and anything can happen in any given game. It seems that best come out in teams at tournament time. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

  13. QUOTE(braves4life @ May 4 2007 - 09:27 PM) 826452172ok so its official. scorecard has lost his mind. and just like ihavenofriends said, farragut doesnt get on here and make excuses why they lost, there's really no point in doing so anyways. and like i have said for the 10000 time, farragut beat DB's ace during the game this year. he came in in the 7th and we won in the 9th, so stop making excuses because you are just making yourselves look stupid.

The pitcher that Farragut saw the first 4 1/3 innings was not the "ACE" for DB. That was the # 3 pitcher. DB was ahead of Farragut when the first pitcher started having pain in his shoulder. That same pitcher has pitched against Knoxville All-Star teams for a long time and he helped his team beat those All-Stars. Yes DB did bring their # 1 pitcher when # 3 was taken out. Now you have to take in consideration that it was in March, on a cold night and the season had just started. NOW it is MAY, regular season is over and it is TOURNAMENT time. All I can say from this point on is BE READY! "braves4life" get a life and watch the game closely.

  14. QUOTE(ihavenofriendzz @ May 4 2007 - 07:33 PM) 826452024Then who was named to have the winninest program in the state? Also I think he was talking about recently, not ever. But I'd say that Farragut's 36-8, 49-1, 46-2, 34-9, and 30-15 (195-35(.848%)) seasons are pretty darn good. Maybe good enough to be the winningest program in the state in the last 5 years?...maybe?

Also DBmom.. I don't think anyone was saying that Oakland didn't deserve to be #1.

You have no clue?????? I surely was not talking about Farragut!!!!! There is one team the has the winningest program in UPPER EAS TENNESSEE. Do you ever read the paper?

  15. Here is a little inside info for ALL the Knoxville teams. The Senior bunch from DB has played in Knoxville Tournaments since they were "little squirts" and have come home with 1st Place trophy's! They played against ALL-STAR teams from Knoxville. Against some of the players from Halls, Karns, South Doyle, Farragut, Bearden, Maryville, etc. The players on the ALL-STAR teams are all separated now BUT the BOYS from DB are TOGETHER and are having a fantastic year! Knoxville beware, the boys from the "other" K-Town is rolling like a steam-engine and clicking on all clinders now. Good Luck to All in the Playoffs!

  16. QUOTE(nowthatsfunny @ May 2 2007 - 07:53 PM) 826450404No team from Knox. "saves a pitcher for the Tribe". When you are in an elimination game you pitch your best available pitcher against the other team's best available pitcher. Last year it was Farragut beating DB 3-2 with Catapano. In 2005 it was Halls winning 8-2. In 2004 it was Halls winning 8-3. I believe that all of those games were at J. Fred. South-Doyle has an excellent baseball team and Farragut has won 19 out of their last 21 games. I will say if DB wins the state in 2007, they will have earned it.

If I remember correctly Farragut pitched another pitcher against Karns and lost. Farragut did save Catapano for DB and did not use him against Karns. Halls did the same thing in 2004. This is the year for DB. DB and Science Hill beat South Doyle respectively. Farragut won that game in March by a slim margin ( 1 RUN) in nine innings. I AM GOING WITH THE VIBES AND ROLLING WITH THE TRIBE!

  17. QUOTE(7inningparadise @ May 4 2007 - 08:13 AM) 826451461then why is farragut not ranked number one if that is the case, nobody has won more than them in the past 5 years

Have they been named to have the winningest program in the state? I don't think so! Take a look at the schools that have had very few loses over the last few years. This is what get you the rankings.

  18. Well, it sounds like some people think they have it in the bag! South Doyle, Barlett, Oakland and maybe Farragut are all GOOD teams, but there is a NEW DOG in the house that plans on upsetting everyone. This NEW DOG has a few tricks that no one has seen and is coming from the East. So, fellas don't count those chickens that you're HATCHIN' , cause you could end up getting CHOPPED. LOL in the playoffs!

  19. I look at who plays who and when they play them. I would place South Doyle and Oakland in the top rankings but you have other "dark horses" in the race that can pull an upset by losing a game to advance in another. It is like playing cards knowing when to hold 'em and knowing when to fold 'em. Using pitchers at the right time. LOL in the playoffs.

  20. It seems to me everyone is forgetting....it is tournament time and anything/everything can happen. Even the winning teams lose to a team that could not have won a game all year. It does not matter who is polled/ranked higher than anyone else........it is the team that is ahead that wins. Whether it be Oakland, Barlett, South Doyle or a team that everyone expects to choke in the playoffs....the team that finishes ahead make it all the way. I like seeing the rivalry between the schools/players/fans. So good luck to everyone in the playoffs.

  21. QUOTE(Dirty Chuck @ Apr 27 2007 - 10:41 AM) 826446788We all know that South Doyle, with 10 college signeees, is going to win the state. But why is it that they are not ranked in the poll. I saw like 4 other AAA teams ranked and we are not. Come On - this is a travesty!!!

I am just looking for answers and theories.

State poll rankings are not only based on this years standings alone but wins / loses over the last several years. You have to look at past records as well as current ones. How many games they have won overall not just for the current year. How many times a team has ranked nationally or on the state level. All this plays into your rankings.

  22. QUOTE(Dirty Chuck @ Apr 12 2007 - 09:38 AM) 826435821South Doyle kids are mentally tough - its just bad coaching when they blow themselves in the foot - I mean come on, last year in the biggest game of the year and we have Zach Nash pinch hitting - that is all coaching - these guys can flat out play the game and they can overcome suspect coaching at any time. Talent always out does coaching.

In the Mo game we played our JV and you know it.

William Blount was a fluke - we will not be touched again

South Doyle is a class program

South Doyle STATE CHAMPS IN 07 - kinda got a nice ring to it

It sounds like Dirty Chuck is counting chickens before they hatch!!!!! It may have a nice ring to it but don't count 2 other East TN teams out. I do have to agree on one thing, SD is tough but it will all come down to who has more pitching left. To go all the way you need more than 3 pitchers. A team that is 6 pitchers deep (I mean good pitchers) with 2-3 good relievers can go the distance. I know a team now that is clicking on all clinders and they proved it today with a win. LOL to the Cherokees----hope to see you in the playoffs.
