  1. in the sectionals this year, one of the players on my team got called for taunting and only got a single yellow. refs make mistakes. besides, what's done is done. you can't change it by arguing about it so just quit. I got to see the game. I'm completely unbiased (I play in A/AA so I have no favorite) and they were just the better team that night. it was an incredible game. leave it at that
  2. I'm not putting anything past CCS but they will see a different team than last year. Portland should have beaten briarcrest this year but was greatly upset in the last 6 minutes when briarcrest came from behind and scored 2 goals to win. they lost 1-0 to MUS and won the wendy's cup against good AAA teams. underestimate them if you want to but if you're smart you'll take this team very, very seriously
  3. there is possibly one word that can describe this game and I don't even think it can do it justice: WOW. that was one of the most incredible games I have ever seen. this is how it went: in the first half, portland played horrible. worse than that possibly. but even through that station camp couldn't score. well, the second half comes along and portland looked like they finally got their feet up under them. however, station camp held them scoreless. extra time came along and the first 10 minutes was (yet again) scoreless. then comes the fun part. the second 10 minute half of extra time came along and offensive mvp of the district, elias groft, shot the most beautiful ball I have ever seen in high school soccer. even the practices I've been to. upper 90. even the sc keeper described it as the sickest shot in a long time. by that time, sc looked like they had just lost their own son but somehow got a goal about 5 minutes later in what was an incredibly sloppy defensive play. well, the second overtime came and nobody scored. now it's pk's. the first 4 players from both teams made their shot. I can only imagine the things going through their heads as they stepped up to the ball. and had we gone to a second round of pk's, I would have found out. but that's not how it happened. portland's 5th player came up and hit it wide left. unfortunately, the same wasn't true for sc. it's hard to lose on pk's but that's just part of it. and no matter if portland was the "better" team or "more talented", the scoreboard said sc was the better team that night. well, as always, moving on. how good is CCS and what are their strengths and weaknesses. can anyone help me out?
  4. LA fought hard but I tend to disagree with the fact that it was a midfield battle. LA plays more of a longball type of offense so they pretty much played over their midfield. the scoreboard didn't say how the night went. LA should have a score on there but I also think that portland should have had more than two. I was incredibly impressed with LA's class after the game. after the game, when LA had lost and their season was over, I don't think I saw a single tear in their eyes. they looked at portland and all they told portland to beat station camp. they didn't hang thier heads, they didn't whine over the game. amazing. LA, you showed more class than any other team we've played this season. don't think portland didn't notice it
  5. portland 2 LA 0 looks like we get to see the SC vs. portland rivalry again. can't wait
  6. I won't make a prediction but don't tell me that LA will win because SC beat portland 2-0 and LA only lost 1-0. portland beat SC earlier in the season. also, don't make a prediction based on the LA team from 2 years ago. and lastly, LA won't control the midfield. not that they aren't good but that has been portland's calling all year. the only problem with that is portland's midfield will have a tough time on such a small field. it's gonna be a good game no matter what though by the way, livingston hosts if they beat portland
  7. first of all, why dive? a good player shouldn't need to do that kind of stuff. it's pathetic when you are specifically known for diving so I don't do it. second of all, I realize the gravity of the WH vs. SC game but quit bringing it up. you're never going to convince the other player what happened so quit trying. it's done. finished. that's it. just leave it alone
  8. so now on to region. any word on how livingston and dekalb play? how good are they. I know station camp played livingston so what's the word? on a side note, well played sc. I hate to see portland lose but they were just the better team that night. soccer's just that kind of game
  9. hey now. you can't be serious. you need to rethink what you just said for a few reasons. first of all, you can't possibly be calling him stupid when your grammar is at the level of a third grader. you were probably in a hurry though so I'll cut you some slack. second of all, the person you're talking to has been playing longer than you and really knows what he's talking about. he played at a collegiate level so don't tell him that he's stupid. third of all, I won't tell you that you're wrong about wh beating portland but I don't really think that you have the facts straight. that's only an opinion though. you had a good season though. it's too bad that you had to end your season like that. don't take it out on other people though
  10. come on now. you may be not be happy with the results but don't blame the refs. both teams had the same refs. great teams don't need to have a game called perfectly. they find a way to win. WH did well though. very good. and no, I don't play for sc nor ever have
  11. station camp will play portland thursday at 7:00. the game will be at portland. station camp won 2-1 over white house and portland won 5-1 over merrol hyde. this is gonna be a huge game. I don't think it's out of line to expect bloodshed
  12. what a game. I agree with no1scoresonme. arrogance is a big thing to watch out for. you were counting on too many things. for one the sc forwards didn't dominate like predicted. if I'm not mistaken, sc only had 3 shots on frame. and another thing, the keeper that played indoor is the second string. the portland starting keeper is one of the best in the game. he is absolutely incredible. I'll put it this way, he's kept 10 shutouts this year. I'll tell ya one thing though. I was scared out of my mind in the first 10 minutes of the game. sc was in complete control. portland struck back though. they really owned the midfield. #3 from sc really took it to the defense though. but the player of the game, #10 for portland. scored the only goal and was dominate in the midfield and up top. there's still the district tournament though. I can't wait to see what happens
  13. I don't think I have the guts to make a call on this one. it'll be close. a very possible tie. talk to me when the game is over. there will be plenty to talk about
  14. While it is true that this year's story is following a similar trend, it's also true that this is a very different team. They were very dominate at home last year but they also lost the game that meant the most at home. This year, I feel sorry for the teams that play them at home. They have quite a gathering. I'm talking 5 trash cans, face painting, colored wigs, abs painting, the works. it's something that can throw an opponent off their game. they've had other players cussing at the crowd. they heckle like crazy and really get in their heads. also, they have a dominate midfield. possibly their best three players (aside from the gk) play in the center of the field. last year the midfield was shaky but was held together by an outstanding player by the name of anthony groft. also, last year's team had incredible strikers. it wasn't incredibly rare for portland to win 6-0. this year, the strikers are relatively weak. I guess it's somewhat understandable. for one they're starting a sophomore. he's very fast but sometimes he doesn't know when to shoot or be that dominate player in the box. the second reason is they're starting a junior that just started playing striker this year. he is very fast too and isn't afraid of anyone, no matter what their size. and even though last year's defense was a powerhouse, this year's defense isn't that bad either. so far they haven't been a susptible to the long ball as before. quite a change from last year's team. I think station camp is going to be a huge test. the team that comes out on top is a going to be a force to reckon with. if I were you, I would come out and see it. it should be interesting. you should see the white house game too. it will be big. expect blood shed in both games. I expect someone to start a discussion about the station camp v. portland game when it's finished. it'd be a good one to talk about. until then, I'll see ya
