  1. I agree with turtleboy the kentucky fescue can not only be used as natures cone but it can also be used inside the 18 in case of a pk or goal kick, the random lumps of grass will allow the goaly to tee up his goalkick allowing for possibly longer goal kick and more break aways on both sides of the field. Now that would make the games exciting.
  2. I agree with morton c, the centpede mix does an amazing job at germinationg where pratically no other breed will. It is a little pricy but it has a reputatution of holding up against the elements that is well deserved.
  3. I agree artificial turf would be awesome, you wouldnt have to worry about hybrids, or crossbreeding, or underseeding or over watering, about limestone or sandsttone or crabgrass preventer or fertilizers or artificial enzymes.
  4. commenting on what turtle boy said earlier ive heard that next year there may be a new era of grass, clover is really making a case with its ability to blend well with almost any other breed, and its ability to cover ground in only a few weeks.
  5. thats what ive heard as well i think next year though they may go with a more domestic kentucky bluegrass bermuda fescue hybrid with a 60 to 30 to 5 ratio. From what ive heard its stands up great in high traffic areas and requires virtually no shade.
  6. Despite what most think, when mixed with a recessive breed such as azozia or fescue, bermuda can be extremely effective in the early to mid spring.
  7. I would suggest maybe going with a fescue winter rye 30 to 1 hybrid, it would fill in the bare spots while at the same time giving the entire field a consistent base seed.
  8. Soccer is not meant to be played on a field that has random lumps of grass, and a few patches of dirt niether team can show their full potential when they are worried about a pass back to the keeper turning into a chip into their own goal.
  9. anyone at the centenial brentwood game tuesday night could see that the field had obviously been underseeded and underwatered, with the recent fluctuating temperatures and the limited amount of fescue that had been planted, the bermuda was not able to germinate, which inturn made almost all bounces impossible to predict. Someone may want to contact the brentwood grounds crew, before the next game.
  10. trying to get some thoughts on the best grass types and best fields in the state. What are your favorites?
  11. I can see where you say fra beat pigeon forge but like i said who have they played if dickson county was all that good wouldnt the game have been a little bit closer. A/AA BESIDES A few teams like mba and 1 or 2 others does not show well when it comes to playing big AA schools, i think the usn final proved that. i agree indy shoudlve have had more goals but focusing on fra's offense they had almost no quality shots and when they did get down close almost all the balls were high or wide or shotsand if they were on target indys defense stepped up and kept it outside the six.
  12. fra is not underated they did beat pigeon forge but who have they played. fra played i this weekend in the USN tournament and played well but they were in the weaker bracket in the finals they lost 2-0 to independence the game could have benn 4-0 or but after getting up 2 indy made sure to keep the shutout, they had very few quality shots anywhere near the eighteen most oppurtunities came on corners and independence won the ball more than a majority of the time, fra ia a quality team but does not step up when they have a chance to make a statement.
  13. why dobbyns bennet yes they are 8-1-1 but i checked their schedule and none of their wins come against teams who are playing with the "big boys"
  14. i agree with you on the first 4 but i play for independence and we beat shelbyville 3-0 they do have a good number of wins but their strenght of schedule is not enough to make those wins noticable
  15. catholic will get the win in a close one if it was 40 minute game i might give th edge to webb but catholic is very deep and there level of play does not drop off much regardless of who is in the game, the fresh legs of cahtolic will get the best of webb in the last 25 minutes of the game
  16. has anyone seen overton play, they tied brentwood 1-1 and brentwood is ranked #6 overall in the state overton is not even on the top 20 for AAA they deserve more credit being 9-2-2. their divison record may not be all that great, but considering they play in the same district as brentwood independence and franklin it respectable.
  17. trying to get some input on who some of the most under rated teams in the state are
  18. independence wins USN tournament
  19. independence is incredibly under rated, you dont just go into a tournament win 4 straight games for the championship and give up only 1 goal the entire tournament, indy beat collierville 2-1 and collierville was ranked #10 in AAA. why dont they get the respect in the rankings collierville was #19 in the overall top 25 and independence hasnt even seen the top 25 yet.
