  1. Did'nt see any fire power from CCS vs Baylor. They played with 10 guys on defense.

    Title 9

UCSoccer is exactly on the mark, asisaninvasion. There are former professional and Olympic (not ODP) players (men, actually) playing on NAIA teams. Some of these teams could easily handle the (boys) playing on most D1 teams. simply put, D1 has athletes while NAIA has soccer players.

    Title 9

Unlike any other NCAA Division 1 sport, the best teams/players are not always in Division 1. This is because, generally speaking, these schools have more foriegn players. The foreign players, historically, were better than the US players. They just did not attend D1 schools for all kinds of reasons. Look back at a school like Erskine College in SC. (Enerollment of about 600) THey used to play Clemson and give them all they could handle.

    Title 9

UT had a soccer program for 1 year back in the '90's. Why it went away, I don't know.
  5. We're all friends, so no disrespect to the defense of Baylor. More importantly is the offense by the Red Raiders. Not many team will put two balls past the CCS keeper this year. He made some fantastic saves to keep the score respectable. Keep scoring Baylor!
  6. Baylor 2 CCS 0 Goals for Baylor: Zander Davis, Carter Paden Shutout: Danny Van Valkinburgh
  7. NDsoccer88 is right. This is about saftey. Not the outcome of some meaningless scrimmage game. Not about the "haves and have nots" of private and public schools. I have seen plenty of games played on football fields and this is the first that I have ever seen that had a carpeted piece of concrete actually on the playing field. Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!?!?!?! It is the responsibility of us "older" fans to become involved when less experienced individuals make poor decisions that could result in injury to the players we enjoy watching play. It is up to the coaches, referees, and individuals of authority at Farragut to notice this hazzard and fix this unsafe situation. You would not have a carpeted piece of concrete on the playing field of a football game - why is it OK for this to be part of the soccer field? I just hope no player ever does get injured as a result of this decision by someone at Farragut to inlcude this dangerous sideline construction as part of their playing field. DO the smart thing, Farragut, and line your field so that this sideline is not part of the playing field.
  8. Note..the carpet is nailed down and there is concrete under it... Why is this part of the playing field?
  9. I reported the unsafe playing conditions/carpet to the TSSAA state office. Maybe they will look into this. At a minimum, how hard is it to roll up and remove the carpet during soccer season?
  10. Is the field that Farragut is using safe? That carpet on the sidelines seems like an attorney's dream. What can be done to have this field brought up to standards that are safe? Very dangerous.
  11. Why does'nt Farragut have a soccer field? Playing on their narrow football field and dangerous sideline ( carpet where the football team ususaly stands) is very 2nd rate
  12. Baylor plays Farragut on 2/21 in Knoxville as a preseason scrimmage. Just early, but might be a great indication of things for both teams.
  13. Who has commited to ETSU for the fall?

  15. Anything happen to the Mike Rose soccer complex - with the tornadoes?
  16. Will Redbnk have all of their players back this year? How will they do? Is there GK still on probation for incident in last year's Baylor game?
  17. How is Knox Webb going to be this year?
  18. If coach Calabrese can pick up some of the '90 ODP team members - Matt, Aaron, Zander, Holt - they should have a foundation of a strong team down the road.
  19. PSA played the top team out of Canada.
  20. Have known David and his family from soccer for many years. I hope he makes a full recovery as soon as possible. My prayers are with him and his family, as well as all of his classmates.
  21. Members of the SEC all have enough money to add men's soccer. The reason they don't do it is there is no preceived "benefit" from doing it. In fact, there are many more reasons not to do it - Title IX & less money to upgrade football facilites to name two. How is it that the #1 youth sport in America - based on numbers of children playing - is the least supported sport by institutions of higher learning?
  22. Chattanooga -explain how it makes sense for WKU to spend more money on football given their funding has been cut? How will they make up for this shortfall? Will moving up a classification in football make up for this revenue shortfall? It may in the shortrun, but the expense of adding scholarships (the smallest of the expenditures that will surely rise) , adding facilities/equipment, added travel expenditures, adding football staff and thier salaries - it will be a losing proposition in the long run. Not to get off on a football rant,,,,,,,,but I really dread what will happen to soccer if the NCAA ever decides to go to a Division 1 football playoff. Schools like WKU will abandon their soccer programs in order to upgrade their football programs so they can share in the expected windfall from a playoff system. While I hope that a playoff system might mean more money for ALL sports at each Division 1 university, I think the result will likely be more money for only the football program. By the way, WKU took about a month to make this decision. The soccer coaching staff had a nice Christmas and then got pink slipped. Just like big business.
  23. 2008 Super Bowl = Giant's Deeeefense= Championship 2008 State Tournament = Baylor's Deeefense = Championship
  24. DO you think WesternKU will reimburse me for the money I spent visting thier school and soccer program last fall?
