  1. I hope these teams win on Wednesday: Webb, Father Ryan, Baylor, and CBHS. Then I will take CBHS in the final against Baylor.

    Houston?

Mjuhb is completly correct....Regional championships don't mean jack. The prize is the state championship game. Experienced coaches know this and don't put emphasis on winning a meaningless regional championship game. Save your horses for the games that mean something.
  3. Coachdanger, Very well constructed argument. I appreciate your thoughts. Not to take anything away from your victory, as Webb has beaten Baylor twice this year, but it was obvious from my prespective that how the Baylor coach set his line-up, the liberal use of subs, the unacustom 4-4-2 formation, etc that he did not see this as the "be all to end all" game. I think he was disappointed with the outcome, but was relieved that he did not lose any players for next week's tournament. Momentum and confidence surely are important byproducts of a game such as this. I hope those elements are not lost while waiting for next week's games. I wish Webb good luck, as we both try to bring attention to East Tennessee soccer.
  4. Dominated.....? Not so sure that was the case. I think Baylor played as poor a game as they have played all season. Webb played OK, but I think they would say they could play much better. Neither team appeared to be very inspired to win this game. It looked more like a scrimmage game. No one wanted to possibly suffer an injury or receive a red card, resulting in missing the State Tournament. The first game between these two teams was a much better game. What is the point of playing a regional championship if both teams still advance to the State Tournament? If this had really been a "winner take all" situation, I am sure the game would have been much more intense, much better skill demonstrated, harder fought - more phyisical, all ingredients for a better game.
  5. In the 1st game, if Webb does not make the one and only shot that they took. the game ends at 0-0. If Baylor scores one of the many, many chances that they had, Baylor wins. THis time around, Baylor finishes and wins easily.
  6. Has Webb already peaked? Is Baylor starting to find the momentum that they have been lacking? Baylor did something in beating McCallie that Webb could not do. I can see Baylor winning the rematch with Webb 1-0
  7. Cater Paden was amazing. Playing with one leg, he beat at least 3 McCallie defenders to then lay off a sweet pass to JB Murphy would finished with brillance. Baylor keeper Danny Van Valkenburg snuffed out 3 late McCallie attempts, sealing the deal and a birth to the State Tournament for the Red Raiders. Great game. Both teams should have been in the State Tournament.
  8. Two teams that both went to State last year. One will be gone after today. Breakdown: Keeper - Baylor Defense - Baylor Midfield - McCallie Forwards - Baylor (even though the stats say McCallie, Baylor has more talent) Coaching - McCallie Defense wins big games, put this one goes to PK's. FLip a coin and I pick McCallie.
  9. Prediction: 0-0 Baylor loses in PK's
  10. Red Bank plays Ooltewah tonight. Anyone from either of these team know if Espino is playing? If not, will he be allowed to attend the game?
  11. I have got to weigh in on CSAS Soccer's comments. Espino has made it his business to fly the mexican flag at previous Red Bank soccer games. Last year against Soddy Daisy I saw him take a mexican flag on to the field to begin the game. He wrapped it around himself, took it to the goal, and hung it in the netting behind him. Where does the discipline come from at Red Bank? Does the principal even know this is happening?
  12. BlueLion, Very commendable on your part for your post. Is the Red Bank coach going to take any action? She risks losing more than just a goalie by not suspending this player.
  13. He should be gone from much more than that. A year long State of Tennessee soccer suspension? Kicked out of school? You cannot cheap shot another player, get red carded, drop the F bomb to the referee and get away with it.
  14. Baylor will have a strong 'O8 class next year. They are only losing 3 seniors this year.
  15. Jon26, very well put regarding Baylor vs CSAS. Baylor has not been outplayed by any team this season. I look for them to have one of those games where everything "clicks". May 10th would be a good time for that to happen.
  16. Father Ryan and Webb should be reversed. Webb is over-rated.
  17. McCallie over Baylor? Very close call here. A 0-0 tie last week against Baylor left a lot questions surrounding McCallie's dominance. I guess the Kings of Chattanooga Soccer will stay that way for another week.
  18. I thought Father Ryan was 2 goals better than Webb
  19. JB Murphy, Michael Deere, Baxter Bell - Baylor. Murphy is going to ETSU. Deere to Clemson. Best of luck to all three
  20. Baylor outplayed McCallie the first time around. Rematch will be interesting. McCallie has more of a fast strike offense, but their defense is suspect. Baylor has strong defense, but the offense has been struggling. Game should be decided by the midfield play. Set plays could determine the outcome.
  21. Should be a very even game. I think if Baylor has all of their starters on the field, they should be able to win 1-0. Baylor has more offensive weapons, have just not been able to click as a unit. Good move to put Zander Davis at center mid.
  22. Good game. Both teams had good chances. Baylor could have put a couple away early. They really missed not having two of their starters.
