  1. yes ben, i do refer to myself in the third person. try not to be jealous.
  2. ya her t-shirts were awesome. top-quality, thats for sure. i'll tell her you liked them.
  3. The Semifinals games were postponed from Friday, May 11th to Saturday, May 12th. Hutchison and GPS played each other at 8:00 this morning and Hutch won 12-6. Harpeth Hall and Ravenwood played at 10:00 and Harpeth scraped by with a one point win at 7-6. Harpeth Hall had a tough uphill battle and had little time to rest, playing a short while after their Semifinal game against Hutch for the Finals. The worn-out Harpeth Hall remained behind Hutch for most of the game. Hutch clinched the win at 8-4. This is the first time for a Memphis team to win the State Championship. it was by far some of the best lacrosse i have seen. the harpeth hall-ravenwood game was some of the best high school lacrosse ever. harpeth had a tough time recovering from their first game of the day. ravenwood brought an intense game, and it was a fierce fight to the finish. the gps and hutch game was intense too. hutch was clearly in control the first half, but gps came close after halftime. however, hutch pulled out the win towards the end. the final game was intense as well, however harpeth was clearly exhausted after their intense game with ravenwood. things may have been different if the games had been played later.
  4. while it is unfortunate that either ravenwood or harpeth hall won't be advancing to the finals, its nice to finally have different teams battling for the title. harpeth and ravenwood have been playing for the title for so long that its a breath of fresh air to see that other teams are capable of doing the same. ravenwood and harpeth may in fact be the two best teams in the state, and its unfortunate that the bracket worked out that way.
  5. i think the friday night games are going to be extremely intense. if ravenwood brings the same game they brought to houston they could most certainly take harpeth hall. although harpeth is a superpower, it does not eliminate them from being beaten. ravenwood is 'peaking' at just the right time. they started the season off slowly, but they've consistently improved. ravenwood has some key players that can really step it up: becca, mitzi, nova, shannon. however, harpeth hall has the infamous group of al, paige, dolan, and glory. the gps and hutch game will be intense too. gps is going to have to have a flawless game in order to beat hutch. gps has some extremely powerful players: ashley, liz, abbey, sarah, drocky. but hutch can retaliate with their strong team as well. they have an INCREDIBLY deep bench. their whole starting line-up consists of key players. i'm not sure if gps has the same depth as hutch. however, gps can surely do the job if they play like i know they can.
  6. Hutchison beat St. George's, putting them into the Semis. They will play Friday, May 11th at 6:00. Hutch will be playing Girls Prep School. GPS beat Franklin to send them into the next round. Ravenwood defeated Houston on Sunday. They will play Harpeth Hall, who beat Father Ryan. This game will be at 8:00. Both the Hutch vs. GPS and the Ravenwood vs. Harpeth Hall games will be at Harpeth Hall. Winner of the GPS and Hutch game will play the winner of the RHS and HH game. ThIt will be at 10:00 on Saturday, May 12th at Harppeth Hall.
  7. Semis: Hutchison vs. GPS @ 6:00 friday night Ravenwood vs. Harpeth Hall @ 8:00 friday night
  8. this tournament will be the best yet. houston, hutchison, and harpeth hall are some of the biggest contenders. the quarterfinal games on sunday will be big determinants. the most difficult game will probably be the houston/ravenwood game. the winner of that game has a good chance of going all the way. it will be even more intense than the previous times houston and ravenwood have met (houston won first game by 4, ravenwood won second game by 1 in ot). its a toss up as to who will win. ravenwood started off slow but has picked it up towards the end of the season. since every team has progressed, this year could possibly have two memphis teams in the finals, which has never happened before. last year hutch was good (recall megan gibson) but this year they have a more well-rounded team which is why they are so strong.
  9. The Postseason Bracket: Game #1: 1. Harpeth Hall vs. 8. Father Ryan OR 7. Ensworth Game #2: 4. Houston vs. 5. Ravenwood Game #3: 3. Franklin vs. 6. GPS Game #4: 2. Hutchison vs. 7. St. George's Game #5: Winner of the 1 and 2 game will play each other in semis Game #6: Winner of the 3 and 4 game will play each other in semis Winner of the 5 and 6 games will play in the finals.
  10. I agree. GPS has strong players and shouldn't be counted out. I believe that it could possibly be a Nashville vs. Memphis team in the Finals, which (as far as I know) has never happened before. Lacrosse has exploded in Memphis and its easy to see that competition has risen everywhere in the state. I think that Harpeth, Hutchison, Houston, and Ravenwood are the biggest contenders this year. Games between all teams have been close and intense. Hutchison does indeed have a fantastic goalie. Houston will most likely be playing Ravenwood on Sunday. I think Harpeth and Hutchison have byes this week.
  11. Houston defeated St. Mary's on Tues, St. George's on Wed, and St. Benedict on Fri. Each game Houston scored double digits.
  12. Houston ended this week with three wins. They now move into the post season with only three losses.
  13. Houston really stepped it up that game. Harpeth is quite a contender. And thank you for your comments about the goalie.
