1. QUOTE(Nashville Panther @ May 27 2007 - 08:17 AM) 826467944Honestly. while it is far too early to predict and the championship game is just ended, odds are that we will continue to see domination from the Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga districts.

As to who will win those districts I know not. But I would guess that CAtholic, ND, CCS, CSAS, CAK will remain at the top in those districts.

District 9 A-AA (Nashville) will be a great race. The top teams CPA, FRA, Ezell, HF, DL lost a great number of good players. It will be a great battle. If MLK who brings everyone back can get it together they might be at the top as well.

As to West Tenn, Region 1, Region 4 and region 6 - I have no clue!!!

psh i dont know what your talking bout with FRA, starting our JV next year. were the shizzzzz

  2. QUOTE(unit11 @ May 14 2007 - 08:34 PM) 826459185there are so many good players..but the fact about middle tennessee is that there are alot of players who are specialists....there are only a few who are above average in every category.

Dean Myers from Cpa is not a flashy player but does all the fundamentals to perfections and is one of the hardest players to guard. He makes incredible runs and as soon as he gets the ball, a perfect ball will be played or a great run will be made.

Travis Jenkins from Hume Fogg is probably the fastest player on the ball in middle tennessee. Put your best defender on him and he will still find ways to get the ball and play perfect balls. He does not have many goals, but has accounted for about half of hume foggs goals.

There are so many but those are the two best in my opinion.

you name two people from district 9 A/AA but you leave out Van Eyes from FRA...

  3. QUOTE(volball625 @ May 9 2007 - 08:26 AM) 826455237How can FRA be ranked in front of hume fogg even though they beat hume fogg early in the season, FRA lost twice to Lipscomb who was in the bottom of the district and hume fogg beat lipscomb twice and lipscomb put FRA out of the district tournament in the first round and yet hume fogg is in the finals again with CPA so please explain to me how FRA a team with a 8-4-4 record is two spots higher than hume fogg with a 13-2-2 record and finished second in the district and FRA finished fifth and got put out in the first round of the district tournament and hume fogg is in the final. Sounds a little political to me don't you think?

Do you pay attention to the district at all? Apparetly not.

FRA beat HF earlier in the year, yeah. Thats the main reason why FRA was above HF on the standings. The only team you beat that FRA lost to was DL. You also lost to CPA 2-0.. FRA lost to them 1-0 in the final seconds. That basically means nothing though, the losses are just neutral.

FRA's schedule was harder than HF.

FRA finished the district as the 3rd seed.. not the 5th

i might as well predict the final as HF will never beat CPA

    CPA 3 HF 1

  4. QUOTE(ijustlovesports @ May 7 2007 - 10:46 PM) 826454050I was serious about what I posted. I never said he'd be a top player in the state next year, I just said that he'll be good. The reason he doesn't start this year on varsity is because of the players in front of him. Maybe the name Kevin Black rings a bell to ya'll. Yeah Kevin Black plays the same postion as Zach.

apparently he wont be a top player in the state next year, as the top players in the state know how to play more than one position. if he was THAT GOOD, or had the potential to be THAT GOOD, he would have taken over another spot on defense, or another position on the field.

  5. QUOTE(hahahaha23 @ Apr 30 2007 - 07:58 PM) 826448644No one can give me any idea of how they play?!

we played them preseason and won 4-1. As for remembering how they play, the were and always have been really strong in the air. They are also really good at winning 50/50 balls in the air or on the ground, very athletic team. Thats about all i can remember though

  6. QUOTE(DropIfUNeed @ Apr 27 2007 - 01:16 PM) 826446942District 9:

They would certainly have my two predictions for State Represenation in the State Tournament for Regions 5 & 6. They have some good talent and some teams with a lot of heart. My two picks out of district 9 would be CPA and Hume Fogg...real tough to pick the favorites right?

I think CPA is a lock for the tournament. They are hands down, the team to beat in Region 5/6 for representation in the State tournament. They play an impressive style soccer lead by a very solid defense. Their lone loss is to John Overton, who I think has as much talent as any team in the state of Tennessee. I look forward to seeing them some more and hope they gain some consistency down the stretch (but they are 3A and off topic).

Hume Fogg has some guys that get after it. They spanked USJ 4-0 (USJ was ranked #1 at the time). Their lone loss of the season was against FRA-an 0-2 battle. Franklin Road Academy, by the way, is mounting a strong season but I really don't understand how they lose to Lipscomb.

If you are going to throw out possible upsets though, don't discount Ezell. Ignoring their 0-5 against CPA, they have beaten Lipscomb, tied FRA (in a high scoring 4-4 match), and lost a close one with Hume-Fogg. They have a disturbing loss to DCA, but they play good soccer.

I've watched Lipscomb play and I hope they continue to over-achieve but I honestly don't think they will be able to get through the tournament. They lost their starting keeper and I hear that was a big loss for them. His status could have an affect on their future.

Good luck to all District 9 teams!

    District 10:

I don't think any of the teams from District 10 will have much success up against CPA, Hume-Fogg, or any of the others listed above. I'll be honest and say that I have only seen a couple of teams play from D-10. But if you put them up against Districts 11 or 12 and they would fair much better.

I think there are some teams with potential in Montgomery central, and Cheatham County but I think they all lack the finesse and team style of play that you find in District 9. I wouldn't want to play the champion of District ten, but unless a Lipscomb, Ezell, or FRA pulls off an upset of one of the powerhouses I can't see a District 10 team in the state tournament.

Keep up the hustle District 10 and good luck!

    District 11:

I think Columbia Academy is a lock to win this district. Columbia Academy has one district loss to Zion Christian. Would someone out there please fill me in on what happened in the CA vs. Zion game? I don't know how that happened. Zion does have a very stingy defense, lead by high flying goal keeper with impressive wing span and a Sherman tank for a sweeper. I can see them holding Columbia Academy to two goals, but I have no idea how Zion put any goals in the net against CA.

Columbia Academy would match up well with a District 9 team but I don't think they will be able to repeat as a state tournament representative.

Sorry Giles for the lack of love but I think your overly aggressive offense will be totally stifled by CA's slightly more controlled attack. The 0-3 loss to Columbia Academy will be tough to turn around in the district tournament. I expect you to come out #2 and advance to the region tournament against the District 12 champion.

Evidenced by a lopsided game against Giles, I don't think Zion has any chance to advance past district play. Congrats on the win against CA but unless you can regain whatever you pulled together for that match, I think State tournament hopes are distant.

    Good luck 11!

    District 12:

District 12 gets the most improvement award. This is quite an even district with some really close games.

With that said this district is a little unknown. There is a possible sleeper team in Middle Tennessee Christian. They have been little tested but currently are riding a 9-1-0 mark. We'll know a little more about them tonight after a District 12 regular season championship match with the Spring Hill Raiders. Look for both of these teams to advance from district play.

Spring Hill has a 2-5 loss to Columbia Academy so a runner-up out of the district would probably be the death of their state championship aspirations. The game was very lopsided with CA scoring in the first 2 minutes of play.

Should MTC win tonight's match-up it would potentially set-up an interesting Region 6 championship between MTC and Columbia Academy. I think in that scenario either team would be in a position to scare or even upset an unassuming Region 5 runner-up.

Since it is a balanced district don't discount the aggressive play of Forrest, the hustle of Cascade, the composure of Page, or even the improvement of Marshall County to be players in the District 12 tourney in Murfreesboro, but don't count on any of them to make it back to Murfreesboro for the State Tournament.

Keep up the improvement District 12, good luck!

Hope I didn't make too many people unhappy. I certainly would love see any representation from this area advance deep into the state championship. We need to keep improving to hold our own against the perimeter TN teams of Knoxville, Chatt-Town, and Memphis!

Lipscomb beat FRA for a couple reasons. FRA was up 1-0 at the half, but Lipscomb got some late 1st half chances that turned the momentum. Second half they tied it early, then they had control because they were playing their style of play. Last 20 minutes, FRA took dominant control and DL keeper stepped up big, making 2 upper ninety saves and 2 free kicks that would have gone in if his wingspan was about 2 inches smaller. They got the ball past midfield once or twice in thos last 20 minutes, and it was a fast break where the defense of FRA wasnt ready and the foward beat the keeper. Refs then ended the game after that shot so it was a 2-1 game

  7. QUOTE(MortonC @ Apr 24 2007 - 01:47 PM) 826444245Well you make at least one good point, on the scale of brackets... FRA was in the more difficult of brackets according to numbers and stats, but you need to think about what you said after that... you claim that on the whole all of those teams are of a lower status because they are not part of AAA. That takes away from the whole sport. It should come down to the players and the coaches not the size of the school. Either way, if the teams were better and the bracket was more difficult, then the end result should have been different. Independence also played a tough team on Saturday morning at the same time as FRA and still faced the same number of games and played on the field the same amount of time. Fatigue and other excuses should not play in. Other wise, you down play the skill of the game and the fact that any team who walks on the field has a chance of making an upset or accomplishing something special.

You make some good points, though i disagree with you. FRA had the more difficult side of the bracket. As for having fatigue playing a factor, yes it did. While Indy was up 6-0 at half against both antioch and fairview, FRA had close games at half and were keeping in there starters longer, knowing that if they put in some reserves the tide of the game could very well switch and the other team get quick goals. All 3 of the teams FRA played had a offensive threat up front, and they could all move the ball (except Dickson, really the only reason that game was close was outstanding play from the keeper), so if you think about it Indy's varsity played probably a 2 games of soccer and FRA played 3. Even though that wasnt why FRA lost the game, it was somewhat of a factor. The reason Independance beat FRA is because both teams play the same type of game, and Independence was just better at it. School size really does not have that much of an impact on the game.

Edit: As for FRA being underated, i believe they should be 2 or 3 spots higher on the rankings, but their not that underrated. The real teams that are underrated are the lower seeds in FRA's District. Teams like DCA(beat Franklin) Goodpasture(Tied CPA) Ezell Harding was a great side before their breakdown after the tie with FRA, i mean even Lipscomb, a team that hasnt been great in the past, they beat FRA and had other close games against higher ranked teams
