  1. Indy has one main issue that crept up tonight. Zero offensive flow and poor play calling. Idk who the regular Indy qb is, but I'd think that Indy would be better served letting Wharton play rb/wr and just running certain wildcat stuff for him. I think running him at qb play after play limits his effectiveness. Brentwood played lights out though.. Better luck next time

51 - 10 and you say "one main issue"? It's a good thing they didn't have more. Zero offensive flow and poor play calling doesn't account for all of the big plays they gave up. Not rubbing salt in a wound but they have many issues that need work and flow and play calling may be a ways down the list.

  2. Also, the whole thing about you owning us, you guys can keep on winning the district in the regular season, but as long as the Rebels continue to go deeper in the playoffs, I don't think anyone over here in Franklin really cares! But have fun enjoying your 3-peat as district champions while you sit at home as Franklin keeps playing this week!

I find it hard to believe that the players don't really care that they have lost the last three times to Brentwood. But if you say so. And I'm pretty sure that Brentwood went further in the playoffs last year. But props to Franklin for moving on this year.

Anyway to the game. When I saw that Franklin had outrushed Oakland and Oakland had more passing yardage than Franklin, I had a Ghostbusters flashback (Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!). I think Clayton is very good at in-game adjustments. If something isn't working he's not too stuborn to change the gameplan. Franklin's balance is a huge asset. Good luck Friday night!

  3. You can't stand it that FRANKLIN is still in it and Brentwood lost. We had an unusual game against the Bruins with all our turnovers. WE beat Oakland and Brentwood lost. Brentwood's football season is OVER!

I will echo what has been said already - I think most Brentwood fans are happy Franklin won last week. It's a great rivalry and we have a lot of respect for the Franklin program. I'm sure I don't speak for all Franklin fans but I will be pulling for you guys on Friday and may make the trip down to watch a good game.

  4. And how many state championship appearances in that span? Winning the district in the regular season means nothing, it doesn't even affect seeding like we saw this year. All that matters is who goes farther than the playoffs, and the past two years total Franklin has fared better!

Maybe you've tried to wipe last year from your memory but Brentwood beat Franklin TWICE on the way to the semifinals and lost in the last 30 seconds to eventual champion White Station. Also, we don't really count appearances - just championships. How many does Franklin have?

And I decided not to trash you because you're probably doing your homework.

  5. And how many state championship appearances in that span? Winning the district in the regular season means nothing, it doesn't even affect seeding like we saw this year. I was actually going to trash you but I wanted to give you a chance to correct your horrendous error. I'm not going to wait long. :popcorneater:

  6. please compare your statment about mathers with brentwood's head coach's comments found in the DNJ after the game on saturday...crawford said that in all his years of coaching at riverdale and brentwood he is the hardest to tackle that he has ever seen...

and i was at the game and i watched every play several times after the actual game and HE NEVER WAS RUN DOWN FROM BEHIND...did not happen! i was also at the vandy camp this summer with him and he ran a 4.51 as timed by the vandy coaches and in another camp ran a 4.46...i would even say there is no one on the brentwood team that is faster than him...

    :flower:

Crawford said some other VERY complimentary things about him leading up to the game as well. As for me, I would have enjoyed the show if he wasn't playing against the team I pull for.

If someone did run him down from behind it was probably because he was juking some people in front of him so that doesn't really count. He didn't look Chris Johnson fast - just lightening quick! But if he ran a 4.51 on Vanderbilt's field then that translates to much faster than a 4.46 on other fields. It is notoriously slow - maybe they build in an adjustment - :thumb: ! Either way he is PLENTY fast. He was bigger than I expected and tremendous footwork. I couldn't be more impressed.

Totally agree w/ your last point PBD. Just about every good team in the state would suffer if you removed one KEY player. I think that PERCEPTION w/ Blackman is because Mathers gets such a high percentage of touches in your system - 234 out of about 290 total yards vs Brentwood. I was hoping he would finally just get tired!

Good luck the rest of the way.

  7. My all state thus far would be

    Offense

    QB-C.J. Beathard-BGA

    QB-Matthew Hamby-BA

    RB-Victor Cairo-BA

    RB-Nantambu Fentress-Ensworth

    OL-Antonio Richardson-Ensworth

    OL-Austin Hicks-McCallie

    OL-Ben Still-MUS

    OL-Blake Tompson-BGA

    OL-Graham Shuler-BA

    WR-Weldon Garlington-BA

    WR-Jordan Smith-BGA

    Defense

    DL-Kennan Crenshaw-Ensworth

    DL-John Mackey-Baylor

    DL-Jarrod Coleman-McCallie

    DL-Woody Barron-BA

    DL-Andrei Lucachi-MBA

    LB-Davis Helton-Baylor

    LB-Zach Erickson-MUS

    LB-James Kay-MBA

    DB-Corn Elder-Ensworth

    DB-Derek King-BA

    DB-Joe Reigle-MBA

    DB-Josh Smith-BGA

Is Blake Thomson at BGA really an OL? He has Rushing and Receiving stats. I really don't know, but my son played on a team with him many years ago.

  8. Yes, they will, as all the teams in the west will.........there are only 4, sba, briarcrest, mus, cbhs. We start our games against each other next week. Right now Briarcrest is 7-0, SBA is 6-1, CBHS is 6-1, and MUS is 5-2. So it remains who is the best, MUS has played S. Panola, and OB, CBHS lost to a good Whitehaven team...and could have beat them. Briarcrest won its game last week against an undefeated Craigmont. And SBA has been killing weak teams.

The question is who will be the top 4 in the mid-east, and can we give any of those teams a game......the MidEast is the stronger side by far IMO.

Do you know if CBHS will get back some of their injured players for the playoffs? I've heard they have had significant injuries, but don't know that for a fact.

  9. ...just enough FOOTBALL players to complete a first string compared to depth at the brentwoods and franklins where it is a PRIVILAGE to get playing time...

I know enrollment doesn't necessarily equal depth but it probably equals potential depth. You gotta recruit the hallways and the parents.

    2010 Enrollment

    Brentwood - 1519

    Franklin - 1836

    Independence - 1860

    Ravenwood - 1931

I would say that Brentwood's participation rate is higher than any school listed just based on around 100 young men on the roster from 10th - 12th grade. Do any of the other schools listed have significantly more than 100 players? I have no idea.

  10. :thumb: After further review video evidence gives Centennial the last 3 wins which will get them in the playoffs: (BOOK IT) Indy should get by Ravenwood with all their injuries after beating Lawernce County and Columbia they get in but Ravenwood stays home. :thumb:

Do you really think its a slam dunk that Indy beats Columbia? I mean, I know you BOOKed IT and all but . . .

  11. Yea, that was a big head scratcher, considering that taker 123 commented on the post that I was being sarcastic with! Serious case of ADD/HD, I guess.

BTW, Bruins favored by 10 this week.

It should be more. We are undefeated, untied and unscored upon against this weeks opponent - although many thought they would give Indy a run for their money!

  12. Three years ago there was an advertisement in the Tennessean Williamson County that stated Brentwood High School now has open enrollment for ALL of Williamson County. There were 3 kids in my neighborhood (zoned for Franklin) that jumped at this latest recruiting ploy by Brentwood High School. All 3 played and started on the football team. "Parents, friends, etc. It's all recruiting, even if we want to call it something else."

Excellent point and as a Brentwood High School parent, I would like to invite all parents of current and future football prodigies to move into the BHS zone. Did I just break a rule there? I sincerely want to applaud the regulars on this board for their restraint when these issues come up - how many times do you have to answer this?

At the Ensworth v BA there were several players on the field that were zoned for BHS but chose to attend one of these schools. While I believe that BHS is a great school for both academics and athletics, I also believe that people should do what they believe is best for their child. I doubt many of the kids I referenced above were on a significant level of financial aid - if any. But why shouldn't a parent that feels that an independent school offers their child a better opportunity, be able to send them there under the rules in place? I don't understand that mentality.

  13.

Ravenwood:Based on their current standings plus the win they will receive over Independence in the final week, I see 4 wins as being enough to get in...probably. I don't believe they have much of a shot against FRA and definitely won't beat Smyrna. PREDICTION: LIKELY IN

Uh Ravenswood . . . any thoughts on this? Anyone else feel this way? :popcorneater:

  14. Who does Brentwood play leading up to the Rebels? The Rebels are beginning to roll. We will take care of business by beating Ravenwood, Fairley, and Independence and then we will start talking about those Bruins.

The Bruins have Centennial, Hillsboro and then Blackman.

So Franklin fans, does Kentucky high school football just stink or what? Do any decent teams from Middle Tennessee lose to Kentucky teams? It seems like we always beat them badly. Maybe all of their better athletes are in the gym practicing basketball or something.

  15. O.K. that was classless, tasteless, but I just couldn't resist it. The Bruins have the ability to beat anybody(IF) they tackle and execute on offense. We play well, we win. We play crappy, we lose.

Getting Mordecai Hightower eligible for this game will be big help. He'll be a difference maker.

Seems like it has taken forever for that situation to resolve itself. About time! Go Bruins!
