  1. Congrats to Baylor....they deserve to be #1. But why I agree....why does a team that loses 3-0 still rank #2? Just curious how so many drop vastly after a lose and a team that is dominated so badly....does not? Anyone?
  2. I know the Red Raiders wanted a big upset win....but not bad. A few fumbles by MBA...but several key interceptions allowed by Baylor and you never know. Oh well, alot of heart for a very undersized team Baylor. Sam Williams is so fast and strong. Love to watch him in soccer and now as running back....two great back to back games for Sam for his high school career. Proud of the guys for holding them to 14 points. But there are no moral victories. MBA....I think you guys are on to another state championship. All in all a very good game.
  3. Two great schools and soccer programs...what else could you ask for this early in the season. This could easily end in a tie....but I will go with... Baylor 2 Bearden 1
  4. no need to diss baylor's football program. their athletic program overall is rated #1 in the state and for the 3rd year in a row top 25 in the nation....per sports illustrated. as for the tournament go past the main baylor entrance and at the next traffic light turn into the entrance for the soccer and tennis complex.
  5. Great game. Strong defense shut down what was supposed to be a powerful Georgia team....defense prevailed! Goalies were not really tested accept on one shot late in the game. Our offense was potent....but could not finish a few excellent chances. Layoff probably had an effect....but we got all we needed. This is such a good rivarly and good to be on top....4-1.
  6. You know...I am not sure that any other part of the state could pull off what the Chattanooga area has...and after tonight I believe this. We in the Southeast Tn...and Northwest Ga area have a very unique rivalry....that most folks may not understand. With our logistics...we have a very intense rivarly with the North Ga folks. The Tn and Ga all star football game was tonight at Finley Stadium...UTC's home field...and what a crowd it was. Tn won 41-0 to pull ahead in the series 3-2...that included a bench clearing brawl with 2 minutes left. This happened only because of the intense rivalry between the 2 borders. I can't wait for the soccer game....that should have a very big crowd in Dalton. The Ga folks will fill it up....come on Chattanooga area....let's show up to support Team Tennessee. Let's support our teams....this is an incredible opportunity that our area offers....very unique!
  7. An all Chattanooga final is very possible but I think Father Ryan beats McCallie 2-0. In a rematch of last year's championship game Baylor will beat Christian Brothers....again 1-0.
  8. cincyred....you are right. Tremendous 4 teams in the semifinals with all playing great games in their substate game. I will be their for the Baylor vs CBHS rematch of last years championship game....hope to get to see at least the 2nd half of McCallie and Father Ryan.
  9. Baylor's in.....4-1 win over MUS. Tanner Taylor and Chris Wilson scoring off of Kelly Smith corner kicks. Sam Williams and Pim van Der Sluth scoring off of two long Andrew Roden throw ins.
  10. Baylor beat MUS today 4-1. Great game by the Red Raiders.....as they played strong as a team. Scoring was off of two long throw in's by Andrew Roden into the box with Pim van Der Sluth knocking in the first goal and Sam Williams scoring in the 2nd half off the 2nd throw in. The other 2 goals were off of Kelly Smith corner kicks with Chris Wilson and Tanner Taylor connecting to score goals. Baylor looked very sharp in this game. Danny V had several great saves.
  11. Soccer is looking very strong in Tennessee. 8 teams top 25 and 5 of those are D2 teams. Congratulations to Baylor, McCallie, Father Ryan, Christian Brothers and JPII. All will be playing this weekend trying to earn a berth to spring fling. That in itself is amazing....5 of the 8 teams left in D2 are top 25 in the nation. Wow!
  12. Baylor vs MUS game is Saturday at 11am est. The weather is supposed to be good!
  13. If I understood someone's post on here earlier it was a straight red not a soft. They said that person had to sit out the Father Ryan game and the McCallie game....would be back for their substate game against CBHS. That is what another poster said anyway.
  14. I did not know that a JPII player sat out either game they lost to Father Ryan or McCallie due to a red card. Was he an impact player? They had been on a tremendous roll beating Farragut, Knox Catholic, Christian Brothers until the 2 losses. 15-0 I think. With that player back you are right....the JPII and Christian Brothers game is hugh.
  15. Is this game still for seeding or is this an elimination game.
  16. Should be a great day of soccer this Saturday at Baylor. The East/Middle Regional Championship is on the line along with seeding for substate. Playing in the championship will be Baylor vs Father Ryan @ 3:15. The winner will be the #1 seed at substate and the loser the number #2 seed. Both Baylor and Father Ryan will host their substate round on May 17th. Pope John Paul II and McCallie will play in the other bracket @ 1:00 at Baylor. The winner will earn the #3 seed with the loser getting the #4 seed. McCallie will travel to Memphis on May 17th for their substate game. JPII will also travel for their game.
  17. No that's backwards. Since east and middle are combined....5 go to substate from this region. 3 go from Memphis/West. I don't know where JPII travels to for substate though. McCallie has to travel to Memphis and Baylor hosts it's game as a result of the win.
  18. Fantastic accomplishment...way to go Big G. From all I have read in the paper and on Coach T....I can't imagine it happening to a better role model. Keep it up!
  19. Dominating performance. Pim van Der Sluth scored the last Baylor goal instead of Taylor. You are right that Sam has amazing speed...hope that Carter P is ok...injured again. Roden had a tremendous night on defense. Danny and the defense 2 goals...13 games. Love it. Keep it up Red Raiders.
  20. I guess this should be another topic but I agree with you about especially tv stations. In Chattanooga the coverage is just spectacular for football of course. But when it comes to soccer....only mentioned if you go to spring fling. The Chattanooga Times News Free Press does a pretty good job...feature usually one game a night. But at least box scores are there. But the Chattanoogan.com does a tremendous job of covering high school sports. If the team gets in the information....the article will be there. They are the best that I have seen. I do from time to time look at the Knox Sentinel and I see what their teams are saying....very little coverage it seems.
  21. You know I try to be positive in my posts...and believe that I do that. But yours really deserves to be blasted. You may be a McCallie game since you came to the game and are blasting a Baylor player....however to be fair alot of just soccer fans come to that game. I really hope that you are a kid...but most young people I know would not come on her to slam 17-18 year old players. Zander is far from being a talentless player....and his footskills are decent at best? Give me a break. He is a very good player and even more importantly a good kid.....you should be ashamed for coming on here to try and tear down a 17 yr old kid. Yes I am sure he would give anything to have made that point blank shot at the McCallie game....but is the only time that has ever happened. Have you ever made a pressure filled shot like that against your biggest rival? He probably should have made it....but to call it unforgivable is really unforgivable on your part. As for Danny V....since you are not a Baylor fan....just how many Baylor games have you ever been to....oh probably just McCallie. I would take Danny V over any goalie in Chattanooga or the state for that matter. That says alot because Chattanooga is blessed with several exceptional goalies. Every single game Danny does not have to make an eye catching save....because Baylor has and outstanding defense in Andrew Roden and Chris Wilson. Now we have 2 younger players to fill in the back 4 that are playing great as well. But Danny and the defense allowed just 5 GOALS ALL LAST SEASON on their way to the D2 state championship. This year thru 11 games Baylor's defense and goalie has allowed just.....1 GOAL TO DATE! To say you have never seen him do anything? Try watching more that the McCallie game to judge. The only thing I will agree with you on is that Baylor does obviously have a stout defense. Baylor would not have be where they are without this amazing defense....I don't know if anyother team in the state has given up less than one goal this year. A testiment to our defense and goalie for sure. As for colleges....you don't know who could play in colleges or not. We have a couple that are announcing soon where they will play. We have several others that have chosen not to play in college because the college of their choices does not offer college...and they are ready to get on with their academic future and not just go for the sport. Not interested in going to a small school...that is their choice not because they could not play. Everyone else, I am sorry for the long post....but it just infuriates me for someone to come on theses boards and hide behind a name...and blast high school kids. This is what is unforgivable....and Go Baylor!
  22. This is the way I understand it. If Baylor wins tonight they will be either the #1 or #2 seed depending on the score. If Webb were to win they would be the #2 seed and would host Baylor next Tuesday in sectionals. If Baylor wins 3-0 they are the #1 seed and I think would host their first sectional game. Making McCallie 2nd seed. If Baylor wins 2-0 it is a tie with McCallie and (I hate this) would have a coin toss with them for 1st seed. A Red Raider 1-0 win would just give them 2nd seed. Don't know if Carter Paden and Murray will be able to play tonight. If not Baylor has had people step up in Paden's absence for sure. But a 3-0 win could be alot to ask for. Should be a very interesting and intense game with so much on the line.
  23. Bluelion....glad you came to another one of our games. You must love high school soccer....would love to have you come to the Baylor and Webb game. Baylor played with alot of intensity and certainly had alot of shots on goal. Don't think that Brett will be playing. I heard that Carter is day to day and only if the doctor releases him to play. Sam Williams speed is incredible...only a sophomore too.
  24. Sorry to hear that....hate to hear of players getting injured. What team is he on?
  25. Very impressive JP2...what a week you have had.
