HVA the last couple of weeks has been hit hard with injuries, I think 6 starters out for Maryville last Friday. As for numbers, I heard they had over 100 out in the spring and a large portion of them are freshman and sophomores. I also understand both the freshman and JV teams are doing quite well and they believe they have help on the way. HVA has been down a couple of seasons, and the new staff has to wash that out of a program and it sometimes takes a couple of seasons to renew the culture and interest in the program, I went and saw HVA play Knox Central, and they played hard, had a chance to win, but were pretty overmatched up front and athletically and Central finally prevailed. I think Miner has a pretty good staff over there and he is a hard worker, they just need to get the talent levels up to compete.
This morning, HVA cancelled today's JV game with Maryville.

Very good question everyone avoids but me.... I just ran into an a longtime Maryville supporter today at Home Depot that was going to the games back when I played and he told me he hasn't been to the games since covid and dependent on watching them on TV. The first thing out of his mouth next was about the horrible situation they have let that get into since Mr. West was bushwhacked by the new principal and replaced by clowns. One week it's on then another it isn't and the camera will be showing the field while all the action is going on at the other side. He told me don't get me going because I'm mad as ale about it. To have a power program like Maryville to have a bunch of Azz wipes doing NFHS is a total joke on the whole school. He said I bet Scott is laughing his butt off about it and he deserves to be. Needs to be some butts fired at Maryville High over it and some new people elected that have the fans interest in mind.

Looks like Science Hill is on NFHS Network.

Heritage's away white uniforms are trimmed in Red and Black. The helmet emblem has Columbia Blue in it, but the jerseys and pants were trimmed Red and Black. I thought the uniforms looked great, but I am confused as to the colors. I've missed this if it's been posted somewhere.

I just received word that Coach Ted Wilson is coming to the Farragut vs Maryville game this Friday. The MHS staff is organizing an informal, impromptu reception for him in the Don Story Athletic Center starting a 6pm pregame. Come by and say hello to Coach!
The informal "meet and greet" Coach Wilson start time has been changed to 5:45pm. Come by and say hello!

I’m anxious to hear OldRebel2’s analysis.
I think the Heritage players and their coach(es) were quite passionate, of course, and they didn't seem to quit. I heard NOTHING inappropriate. The head coach has brought lots of enthusiasm to the program from players to fans that did not seem to exist on previous Heritage teams.

Anyone have any information on how to purchase tickets? Can they be purchased at the gate cash or card? Thanks!
Tickets can be pre-purchased at https://gofan.co/app/events/638275?schoolId=TN11339 or you can pay cash at the Broadway or Central office gate, or credit/debit/apple/google pay at all gates. $8 ($1 fee added for all credit purchases)

When Ted Wilson got hot under the collar at Maryville High he would say Dadgummit and you knew he wasn't kidding around and if it was personal he would say Dadgum your hide Barney which I can still remember very well.
And big knucklehead!

Who’s going to remind him? The AD and rest of the admin are fan girls. They’re not going to question a former vol assistant.
Will more players leave Heritage for other high schools because of the coach? Time will tell.

I can’t believe no one as posted about the language that was used by the Heritage HC. He cussed more than a drunken sailor Friday night.
It will be interesting see how much and how long (this season) the Blount County referees put up with it when it's aimed at them.

So…$1M plus for turf on a field with a life expectancy of 10-15 years. 5 games a year would be 50-75 total games for that cool mil. I may need some rithmatik help but that seems kind of crazy especially knowing you are gonna need a few hundred grand to “reseed”. The programs might be better served by bringing NIL to high school.
I don't understand the $4M price tag. There's got to be more "stuff" than just turf included in that price tag. Maryville's & Alcoa's turfs were nowhere near that amount.

Heritage and William Blount to get turf fields for the 2023 season.

Picked up the season tickets this morning and noticed the Heritage game was on Thursday to start the season off. Also have a new sponsor "Hardee's" on back of the tickets this year. I have to admit I didn't use a single one of the BoJangle's coupons due to how the place run down hill having to hire every Scallywag in town to keep the doors open and most of the time it was to only keep the drive in open. A change of scenery is a good thing though.
Due to referee shortages across the state, the TSSAA moved some games to Thursdays all across the state. I think that's why the Heritage game got moved. The Powell game is on Thursday also because it's the TV game.

If that's the case it will be interesting to see if Maryville has a passing attack this year or if they have to rely heavily on the run game. Pretty much every year they've been able to run the ball and throw it on offense and have a good balance. This year I think they might have to get Vaughn 30-40 touches a game, especially against Powell, Alcoa, and Science Hill.
I haven't seen QB1 play and I haven't watched any practices. However, this morning on 99.1, Jessie Smithy said he expected QB1 to have a very good season under Coach Hunt and thought QB1 might be a breakout player. Time will tell, of course.

Thx OR2. That info raises even more questions. Good luck to Coach West. I’m confident they will find someone. I’ve heard good things about the new hoops coach. She may relate a little better. Time will tell.
Scott took the team to state 2 of the last three years and is the winningest MHS girls basketball coach of all times. He must have related fairly well.

There will be video at/from the Skeeter Dome. I think Scott averaged about $3.00 an hour for all the time he put in doing video for football, basketball, baseball, soccer, 100 yards with ____ , and everything else.
He also taught three classes:
Level 1: A/V Production I
Level 2: A/V Production II
Level 3: A/V Production IIIHe also coached a little basketball.
I'm hearing that they're having trouble selling video board advertisements (touch down, first down sponsors) because of no Scott West. There's no one to coordinate the video and graphics plus they need someone to run all the ads during the game. Hopefully, they'll find someone to replace Scoot soon although many don't work (not much) during the summer break.
