  1. Heck, half of them would just be playing AAU basketball and summer baseball if they weren't doing those camps/tournaments. I can go along with that, and thats true. I just dont think you can get anything acomplished by only going 25 yards and not having the other intangibles as pass rush and other conditions. Why not just play flag rules with shield blocking for the linemen? But all in all, I would agree with you totally on the deal for younger players like JV and Freshmen to go along with.
  2. West: Lost some starters from last years team. Will have to reload on younger players, but Woods' staff will have them in contention for another playoff run. East: Got some players back from last year, could vie for #1. Boone: Still pretty young, but didnt they lose the starting QB to another school? Volunteer: No clue? Greeneville: New coach should bring some positives, but $$$ wont win games in this conference? Or can it! HA! Cherokee: Just like Volunteer, I have not heard a thing. All is quiet in Rogersville. Probably middle of the road. Crockett: Still improving, who knows? Typical program that has a few decent skill players and nothing else anywhere else. Cocke Co.: Heard that some returning players have quit. Also hear that they have failed to use the expertise of a former NFL strength coach who has moved back to the city. Got torched last year on D.
  3. Why did Greeneville High School or EHS call off the series? Its like one of the states longest rivalry games. $$$$ driven?
  4. Whatever happened to Qb's and Wr's throwing all summer long by themselves? 7 on 7 is nothing more than an organized excuse just to get players and coaches together. If the team is working out and running with a conditioning program, the QB's, RB's, and WR's can all work on timing themselves rather than come together for a 7 on 7 skelly game of touch. Besides, I have witnessed a few players suffer season ending injuries by these deals. Total waste of time IMO!
  5. Greenville High School (East TN) does drug testing and there are some schools in Chattanooga that do it as well. I hear from a drug testing agency in Chatt. that they travel up and test Kingsport schools as well. BUt all in all, drug testing should be administered for athletes. Just think, some schools in Texas test extra-curricular activities like band and dance as well!
  6. Any player boasting anything towards 4.4 is full of it. Look at the NFL combine and scouting numbers. You may have a receiver or a tailback near that number, but when they are tested by a professional scout, its more like 4.7.
