The easy answer to bringing in a crowd is to win some games. I think you are right though in that it doesn't matter who else is on the schedule, the old rivalries will always bring in the best crowds.
-
Do they even have a principal yet?
-
Yeah I agree with that. I think anybody that grew up in Grundy would love to come back.
-
What time are they going to get it started?
-
Nick got the coaching staff all filled out now?
-
Tom best of luck to you as well. Hope you find somewhere to coach next year.
-
Colquit leaving for Marion? Is this a good thing for Grundy football? I would say yes.
-
Well it sounds like things are heading in the right direction. The schedule looks manageable too. If the kids work hard, could be a quick turnaround.
-
Great article DL. I hope the community can help Nick pull this together. It is time for things to get going in the right direction on the mountain again.
-
Just want to pass on my congratulations to Nick as well. Hopefully he can help get things turned around on the mountain.
-
So anything new going on up on the mountain. Been quiet for a while.

junior and no! There is a Seq county thread guys.
Your right Packfan, one can't win without a good OL or DL. But people come to watch speed.
This is true but people will come see a winning program too. Grundy will never have consistant speed but they can consistantly put out some big boys.

Okay I will take the bait but I am sure that it is nothing that wasn't said last year when he took the job. What other things would you bet on?

It is always funny to me that when people talk about great players that they always talk about the skill positions. If any program is to be successful though, it has to start in the trenches. That is where Grundy needs to really make strides this off season. It is my understanding that they have some young lineman that are pretty talented but need to hit the weights hard.
-
Sounds like Coach Swafford has the boys moving in the right direction. Excitement about the program has to start from within. That means the players, the coaching staff and the faculty. Good luck and keep working.
-
it is just nice to see some interest in Grundy football. There weren't very many post during the season. It appears that there is just a lot of apathy towards the program at the moment.

Well building a middle school at this point really doesn't make sense. Traveling expenses and things like that make it much cheaper to leave things the way they are. Middle school ball is a little over-rated as it is. I guess my real question is, how much is the new region going to help out? It appears, on paper anyways, to be much easier.

Byrnes did beat MBA 62-14 back in 2005. I am not going to get into all of the which state is best. There are several differences here than in other states though. Some states have a month of spring football for instance. Some states have coaches that aren't teachers. This gives them a lot more time to devote to just football. There are reasons out there but it isn't because we don't have the athletes.

Glad to see so much interest in this game. Even though neither team has had a lot of success this should be a good game and a fun one to watch.
-
Well stated Sidetrain. Just 3 more days and you guys can all settle this on the field. Bring your A games and let's see what happens.
-
So how did the spring scrimmages go? We have heard about Cascade and Forrest, how about the other schools.
-
Any updates on how things went?
-
Where they able to play the scrimmage today? If so, how did it go?
-
I think part of it is that you have to train for football almost all year long. I see a lot of kids wall away from baseball at the end of the season and then pick it up again next spring. If you aren't lifting and getting stronger then you are getting further and further behind in football.

Yes nasty serves a purpose but the fight was the only time I ever saw any of nastiness. Got to learn when and how to turn it on for it to be effective.
