  1. Yes nasty serves a purpose but the fight was the only time I ever saw any of nastiness. Got to learn when and how to turn it on for it to be effective.
  2. The easy answer to bringing in a crowd is to win some games. I think you are right though in that it doesn't matter who else is on the schedule, the old rivalries will always bring in the best crowds.
  3. Do they even have a principal yet?
  4. Yeah I agree with that. I think anybody that grew up in Grundy would love to come back.
  5. Nick got the coaching staff all filled out now?
  6. Tom best of luck to you as well. Hope you find somewhere to coach next year.
  7. Colquit leaving for Marion? Is this a good thing for Grundy football? I would say yes.
  8. Well it sounds like things are heading in the right direction. The schedule looks manageable too. If the kids work hard, could be a quick turnaround.
  9. Great article DL. I hope the community can help Nick pull this together. It is time for things to get going in the right direction on the mountain again.
  10. Just want to pass on my congratulations to Nick as well. Hopefully he can help get things turned around on the mountain.
  11. Byrnes did beat MBA 62-14 back in 2005. I am not going to get into all of the which state is best. There are several differences here than in other states though. Some states have a month of spring football for instance. Some states have coaches that aren't teachers. This gives them a lot more time to devote to just football. There are reasons out there but it isn't because we don't have the athletes.
  12. Glad to see so much interest in this game. Even though neither team has had a lot of success this should be a good game and a fun one to watch.
  13. Well stated Sidetrain. Just 3 more days and you guys can all settle this on the field. Bring your A games and let's see what happens.
  14. So how did the spring scrimmages go? We have heard about Cascade and Forrest, how about the other schools.
  15. Where they able to play the scrimmage today? If so, how did it go?
  16. I think part of it is that you have to train for football almost all year long. I see a lot of kids wall away from baseball at the end of the season and then pick it up again next spring. If you aren't lifting and getting stronger then you are getting further and further behind in football.
  17. I think that is an issue everywhere. It is kind of sad to say that the game itself isn't enough to bring kids out. It seems that you have to go out of your way to make it fun. With the numbers they have and the district they are in there won't be time for anybody to take plays off.
  18. Okay 2-2 but how did they look? I know LV is coming off of a really good season.
  19. Good luck on the scrimmage Friday. Let us know how it goes.
  20. I don't think it will be the same for any of us without Pic. I guess Coach Swafford will be evaluating coaches just as much as players this Spring. He has some really good guys there and I hope for the kids sake that they stay around.
  21. How about the rest of the staff? Did Coach Swafford keep the rest of the staff intact?
  22. So how are things going on the mountain? Did the new coach retain the old staff? As far as a middle school team, that will be a difficult job until they actually have a combined county wide middle school and I just don't see that happening. It is not cost effective.
  23. Anybody know what is going on there? That is a lot of coaches to leave in a short period of time.
