  1. A week from today MBA will face Brentwood Academy at BA. Brentwood Academy will be coming off a bye week after losing to Ensworth and Baylor. This Middle/East Region appears to be fairly even with few exceptions. I think this will be another game to close to predict, but with BA having the home field advantage they may have the edge.

  2. Next Weeks Region 4-District 7 Schedule

    TUESDAY-OCTOBER 19

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY @ NOTRE DAME 7PM

CCS @ SIGNAL MOUNTAIN 7PM (I believe it is at SM)

    THURSDAY- OCTOBER 21

DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP 7pm (Assume ND will win against Sequatchie County, so ND will be game site)

    D

You know what happens when you "assume..."

  3. Like most games, this one is more likely to be lost than won. In other words, it's more likely that someone's mistake will be the difference, not someone's heroic act. Baylor hasn't yet played a team with the raw talent that BA seems to have, but their game against MBA was one of the soundest fundamental games I've seen. On paper, BA should take it, but Baylor seems very disinclined to offer you much help.

It would be worth watching, if MBA weren't playing the Hun at the same time.

That is how BA lost to Ensworth... those four turnovers were the difference in that game. BA has made several mistakes in the way of turnovers and penalties. The difference in the other games was that BA had the talent to overcome it and with Ensworth they were able to capitalize on those errors. Will Baylor be able to do that and can BA execute without all of the errors?

  4. Wow.....another great and eye-opener statement "....other schools recruit (which they do)".

I'm convinced now because you said so.

How about this...Public schools allow academic cheating for their stud athletes.

I have no proof,f but it sure feels good to state something I know nothing about.

    That's a good one, Shakin'!!

  5. My favorite coach Turner quote from the paper:

"Catholic wanted it," Bearden coach Eric Turner said. "We came out (and) we had no passion. They won all the 50-50 balls, they were pulling shirts, they were grabbing, they were holding and we were just standing there - they played more like a Bearden team than we did."

That quote is hilarious. I wonder if he realizes what he said?!!

  6. So, a kid that wants to attend Alabama because they are a national football powerhouse and have the potential to do it again, or because they will receive great preparation for the next level and they might realize their dream of playing in the NFL... is that unrealistic? Do you suppose that most kids want to play in the SEC because it is a strong conference with numerous teams ranked in the top 20 in the nation and with that comes exposure and opportunity? I submit that these kids are attracted to these programs because of the school's history; what they offer, football and otherwise; and not because they were recruited.

  7. Big - you hit the nail on the head about EHS taking BA out of their comfort zone.

They loaded the box, doubled teamed BA's top receiver, #3 and forced BA QB to throw to 2nd and 3rd receivers. The EHS secondary was fast and covered well.

Still a long season for both teams. EHS and BA has Baylor and the BA/MBA game is looming.

This regular/playoff season for E/M teams will be a carbon copy of last year. You might beat a team in the regular season game but not the playoff game.

A couple of injuries to both sides last night might be a factor in future games.

    Is Richardson okay?

  8. Didn't realize the game was tonight...I'll be headed over to Granny White to take this one in, wearing the brightest red shirt I can find in the closet. Ought to be a good one.

I'm sure you will be welcome there. Looks to be an exciting game this evening. Nice fall weather, a rivalry and a great game to be sure... doesn't get any better!

  9. Baylor 0

Anything more on this game? I would've thought Baylor would be the winner of this game.... I know that you throw out the records when it comes to rivalry games, but I really thought Baylor would win this game.

  10. Official was apparently coughing up blood. He has had two heart attacks previously and word has it may have been going through another. Fortunately, St. Thomas is right across the street.

Please let us know what the status is on the official. He is in our prayers.

Congratulations, MBA. Sounds like McCallie gave you something of a fight.

  11. Aaron's injury was not serious. It was NOT a concussion. The hit was painful and caused numbness, but that has subsided and all CT's / MRI's were clean. Some rehab and he will be ready to go.

I want to thank all those who said a prayer for him, they counted,,, each and every one.

I would also like to thank Baylor's # 25. He put a good hard hit on Aaron, but that is the game. He came out on the field, visibly upset over the injury, and wished Aaron well. That young man has class and is a true example of sportsmanship.

That is good news, Jayhawk! Glad to hear Aaron will be alright. The bonus is learning of players like Baylor's #25. Congrats to Baylor on the win.
