I just have a hard time choosing a team that isn't local....blame it on loyalty. :D

  2. WHITEHAVEN aint the city's team!!!

There are Haters all over this board and throughout this City/County who been wanting to see us FAIL From Round 1! I'm taking the whole WHITEHAVEN aka BlackHavenZone aka BHZ aka Da HAVEN with me from Lakeview Gardens to Twinkle Town ! 38116 and 38109 Stand UP! All you other folks can kick rocks and watch Whitehaven's smoke as we travel to Wilson Co. to take on them Black and Gold clad Mt. Juliet Bears! There aint no room on my bandwagon if you aint from Da Haven!!! 8-)

WHITEHAVEN, WE ALL WE GOT :hungry:

    RESPECT DA HAVEN

Haters? Maybe so...but speaking for myself, I enjoy watching good football. I don't "hate" anyone. I'm a W.S. fan, we're out of it now. So yep, I'm hoping for Whitehaven to take their "A" game east of here and win the semi's, then finish it the following week.

I think there's plenty of other people from this area wishing the best for WH also. But don't worry bhs, it isn't YOUR bandwagon anyone is jumping on. :roflol:

  3. If you want up to the minute scores for the Brentwood vs. Mt. Juliet game you can sign up at fnlscores.com.

Anyone know how I can get text scores for the Whitehave vs. White House game? Do you guys out in Memphis have anyone doing that?

To my (very limited) knowledge, no. I do wish we had some better media/tech coverage of local games. We have one radio station, and sometimes, Comcast will show up for TV broadcast on a local channel. But just not much else for high school support.

  4. KWC....I was about to ask the "Spartansfan" the samething once "Da Haven" whips the Spartans again for the second time this Fall...but...I thought I'd save my energy for the Roadrunners!

LOL....Taking the high road, eh? Well, should Sparty fall tonight, I'll hop on the Haven's band wagon.

If HC plucks the Roadrunners from advancing, I'll be pulling for HC the rest of the way too. :thumb:

  5. FYI......Here's the Commercial Appeal's take on the game...

"Ridgeway has played some outstanding football over the last few weeks -- especially on offense -- but the Roadrunners will have to overcome a huge challenge tonight if they are to reach the semifinals for the second year in a row. The Patriots have steamrolled past all 12 of their opponents this year, outscoring their competition by an average of 45-10. Henry County does most of its damage on the ground, with Najee Ray (960 yards, 12.6 average, 15 touchdowns) and Shaquille Allen (909 yards, 17 touchdowns) leading the way. Offense has never been a problem for Ridgeway either; Jaylen Walton enters the game with 2,320 yards and 24 scores. And Sheldon Dawson is a threat to score any time he touches the ball. But the key will be on defense; linebacker Lenard Harden, defensive tackle Adetayo Ajayi and company will have to make some stops."

    What do you think?

  6. This is a good post but it has its problems.

1 Our schedule is getting stronger with every subsequent playoff win. Does that count?

2 The Roadrunners will not score on every possession. We probably will, they will not.

3 This year's HC team has not lost several years in a row as a pretty heavy favorite in the playoffs.

4 Make no mistake, Henry County's mindset is to score on every possession, our possessions and our opponent's possessions.

:roflol: ....and you think this is unique? Aren't most all teams coached and taught to try to score on every play...not just on each possession?

  7. When WS won the state in 09, they beat us twice that year. By 20 points in the regular season, and by 4 points in the quarterfinals. They went on to beat Brentwood in the semis and Maryville in the final. By far, in those playoffs, Whitehaven gave them the toughest game. I think this game will be a hard fought game. I think Whitehaven can win ... but it's harder to beat a good opponent twice in the same season ... but as White Station proved in 09, it can be done.

    Ahhh, the memories!

Actually, the Brentwood game was every bit as difficult as the Whitehaven game that preceded it. Both games went to the wire, were won late in the 4th quarter. The Maryville game was actually somewhat anti-climatic.

None the less, your point is well taken,....defeating the same opponent twice in a season is difficult, but it has happened.

  8. I have been on Coach T for about 4 years now....maybe a bit longer. That memory/old age thing....

I have always admired the active following the Henry County fans have for thier program. I find myself pulling for you guys each years as you get further into the playoffs. I mean, who can't appreciate well played football?

However, other than what I read here, and see in game scores. I don't know anything about the team or players, or coaches.

Regarding Ridgeway, since I am a White Station fan, I have seen them play. Albeit usually once, maybe twice a year. They fit the pattern of many of the better local teams....meaning, usually good coaching, good to great atheletes. When they get on a roll, they are really tough to beat! Defensively, they have struggled this year due to youth. As in most games, when your defense isn't very good, your offense spends less time on the field. I think that accounts for alot of the early season woes. They have managed to adjust, gain experience, and get better as the season went on.

I don't know if they are good enough to beat HC, but I do expect they will show up and give you a good game. Some posters seem to think HC defense is soooo good, that the Ridgeway "stars" will get hit really hard, and lose their desire to play. REALLY!? I mean, do you REALLY think they don't take shots here? Look at any good football player, or good football team....every game they play, they have a target on them. So the opposing defense is going to always give it their best effort to hit the guys hard, and put some fear into 'em. I really think that over the past 2-3 years, these players have felt hard hits. Yet they continue to play hard. So please, show them some respect for being "football players", just as your HC players are. They all understand quite well this is a physical game. I would also imagine, Ridgeway players might have a hit or two in store for HC.

Whew...ok, rant over... I'm looking forward to seeing how this game turns out...intrigueing match up! Good luck to all...I'll be watching WS vs WH.... :thumb:

  9. This is where the rubber meets the road. There are fewer and fewer City of Memphis teams advancing. Let's see who's the guru for the quarterfinals. Presently, fourthree has been the supreme prognosticator.

Big Games in Memphis ... the Quarterfinals.

    6A

    1) White Station (8-4) @ Whitehaven (12-0)

    5A

    2) Ridgeway (9-3) @ Henry County (12-0)

    2A

    3) Dresden (10-2) @ Westwood (7-4)

    D2-A

    4) St. George's (9-3) @ Harding Acadamy (9-2)

    D2-AA

    5) Ensworth (10-1) @ MUS (8-3)

    6) CBHS (9-2) @ Baylor (10-1)

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    My picks are as follows:

    1) Whitehaven

    2) Ridgeway

    3) Westwood

    4) Harding Acadamy

    5) MUS

    6) CBHS

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Your turn! ... :popcorneater:

    1) White Station 20-17

    2) Ridgeway 34-30 (After reading the H.C. thread, they make Ridgeway look like a huge underdog! Gotta pull for 'em)

    3) Westwood

    4) Harding Academy by 14

    5) MUS by 4

    6) Baylor by 10

  10. I'll start off saying I'm pulling for the Spartans....but...

I can see this game going WH's way.

I think if WH plays a clean game, up to their potential, then they could win by 2-3 td's. But if they start making mistakes, or if WS shows some mistake free football, a little imagination in the game plan, We'll have a close one.

I think Coach Rutherford will have the team well prepared, and I'd expect some sloppy plays by both teams....like the big play called back for a penalty, or the untimely turnover....Just seems that's the stuff that happens when these two meet. Any way it comes out, it should be high intensity, and entertaining.

  11. Whitehaven is a good team but won't win the state this year. I was at the game last night. Def is fast. O line is big and speedy backs. QB can throw. But when you guys face possibly Mount Juliet or if ya get past them either Riverdale or Merryville then the real truth about you def will be answered. The teams in the middle of the state are just a diff breed it seems. If ya can't put up big numbers on offense against Arlington and Whitestation sure won't win against the teams I posted a few lines back.

We heard that soooo many times when WS played Brentwood, then Maryville in 2009 on the way to the Gold Ball. And that year, Riverdale played Maryville in the opposite semi-final game....everyone figured the winner of that game had the championship locked up.

We had the typical problems...turnover potential and too many careless penalties. But, our team speed was simply too much for the middle and east teams to overcome. I know the history....usually it's a Nashville area team...just saying, don't assume Whitehaven, or WS for that matter, couldn't get it done this year. That's why they play the games....

  12. White Station up 13-0 over Brighton at the Half!

Coach T scoreboard shows it 17-0 WS

Are you at the game? Or did you pick up that info from the radio? I'm listening to the WH/Arlington game, they reported a 13-0, but didn't sound too confident....

and CBHS up 21-7 at the half...that surprises me quite a bit....

  13. All I know about Brighton is based on their schedule/results. It looks like they are an explosive offense...but I don't see much success against quality opponents. Yes, they beat Millington...but Millington wasn't playing true to their customary form at the time (in my opinion).

I think WS will win this game, but obviously, as you get deeper into the playoffs, nothing can be taken for granted. They will need to be at their best to continue to the next round.

  14. Over the past few seasons, Arlington fans would post here and in the Commercial Appeal about how they were not getting respect they felt they deserved. The common response was they needed to play a better schedule, and show success with that schedule.

Well, I think they have have arrived! And if their 1st round game is any indication of where they are mentally, I'd say they are peaking at the right time. That doesn't mean they will roll over Whitehaven the way they did DC.

Whitehaven has shown in recent years, the inability to go as far in the playoffs as expected. But I think they improved last year, and maybe will continue playing up to their potential.

If both teams do show up and play to their potential, it should a great game!

  15. 1) East vs. Wooddale @ Halle

    2) White Station @ CBHS

    3) ECS @ USJ

    4) Ridgeway @ Whitehaven

    5) Hendersonville @ Germantown

    6) Melrose vs Mitchell @ JP Freeman

    7) Olive Branch @ Smyrna

East vs Wooddale....I think East is going to get this one. 42-24

WS vs CBHS....I wish I could say differently, but CBHS seems to be rolling pretty good. WS still needs to find some consistency in its offense. Not a good time to be looking for ways to improve. CBHS 28-14

ECS vs USJ....no idea, but will go with 24-10 ECS

Ridgeway vs Whitehaven....I guess the game has to be played....WH rolls 42-7

Hendersonville vs Gtown....I'm going to be a homer with this one...G'town 35-24

Melrose vs Mitchell....Even when Melrose looks bad one game, they seem to find a way to turn it around the next. I'll go with the upset....Melrose 22-20

OB vs Smyrna...should be a great game....I think OB can pull it out 24-21

  16. Whitehaven got a big win in East St. Louis against an Illinois powerhouse. Good defensive game by both teams. St. Rita had too many missed opportunities. Whitehaven's defense is fast/very athletic and will cause problems for a lot of teams this year.

WH won 7-0 in a defensive struggle// St.Rita couldnt overcome the much larger faster WH D//..neither team had a potent passing attack/...WH #7 Dodson seemed a have a bad ankle injury, hopefully he will be back soon as he is the best rb for WH.. WH #62 is a run stopper >> man that young man is huge..

WHEW!!! I saw on unapproved website a 56-16 score in favor of St Rita....I couldn't believe it! I mean for them to lose, ok. But They are waaaaay too good to lose by that margin. Glad to hear that 56-16 score is in error!

    ....and congrats to WH!!!
