  1. Well guys I got off work a little early yesterday so I could make it to the Riverdale/Siegle match.

I am certainly glad I did.

I have got to say that i am so proud of all of the student athletes on the court. This is truly the best group of volleyball players Rutherford County has produced. With all due respect to Blackman, Smyrna, Oakland, Lavergne and all the smaller schools in the county.......Riverdale and Siegle are by far the best volleyball schools in the county.

It is obvious that these girls are playing USAV volleyball and are putting in the time required to be better volleyball players.

This match was extremely close and so well played by both sides.

Riverdale came out on fire in both Set 3 and 4 only to see Siegle climp back out of the hole and pull out both sets.

    ///////////////////

On a side note....there was a Siegle High School fan/parent who was being an absolute butt! (PG for coach-t)

He was intentionally trying to get the attention the official to tell him what to call. I was sitting in my seat andf9d....this guy was really being obnoxious. I really didn't get what he was so upset about. The official was really consistent and seemed to know what was going at every point of the match. The official had to tell coach Slaughter to tell him to simmer down. This really took away from my enjoyment, I was really getting a kick out of watching this guy further embarrass himself.

All in all....I was so impressed by both teams and the athletes on the court! Volleyball can only go up in Rutherford County....seeing the match yesterday...I truly believe it will

  2. There are 4 tournaments in Middle Tn this weekend, Coach T has coverage of 1.

I know the Brentwood Invitational is the end all be all tournament of the mid season, but the players and coaches from the schools involved in the other 3 tournaments should be getting some love also.

Can anyone please post the field for the Harpeth Hall.....Ezell Harding and Wilson Central tournaments (P4K where u at)

Just looking out for the greater good!!!!

  3. I really don't see why that is bad except for the concession stand and Fans and players having to eat or get something to drink. Do you think provisions will be made for that or should teams make sure they pack a lunch or some drinks, etc, to take care of those things? The Tournament folks should advise teams in that building how the best way to hand that. It is decided and its not like its something that will be changed. It looks as if you go with what is decided. There are some good matchups though, some extra special ones. If nothing else, a school can get some very good competitive play.

If there are 2 college coaches there in the whole weekend I would be surprised.....but I bet you see lots of video cameras....!!!

  4. This is a super impressive event...not only do you get to see rivals Lee University and Berry College go head to head but athletes from area high schools will showcase their volleyball talents prior to the main event. Walker Valley, Cleveland, Bradley Central and Ooltewah will mix it up and all proceeds go to the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation.

The entire article can be found here.

I wish we could do something similar in Middle Tennessee between Lipscomb and Belmont Universities.

I agree this would be a great event to be held here in Nashville. If not with Belmont and Lipscomb we could try to get Trevecca and Cumberland to get involved.

  5. Just to let everyone know the R1 is the complete dictator of a volleyball match. The line-judges and R2 are there to assist the R1. He has the final say in all calls made by line-judges and R2. That is probably why the call was not replayed.

  6. Im game....

AAA Brentwood over OOteWalh in the Finals

AA/A Greenbrier over AC (in 3 both times)

Division-2 (BIG) FRHS over Hutch (this is the best tourney to follow by far)

Division-2 (small) Harding will not lose a game. If they play well enough they may not give up 10 in a game.

    Just my Opinion

  7. HEY I WILL SAY IT FOR YOU GREENBRIER IS FOR REAL AND PROBABLY THE ONLY TEAM YOU WILL PLAY THAT HAS 3 GIRLS THAT WILL PLAY BALL AT DIVISION 1 LEVEL. IM NOT BRAGGIN CAUSE THEIR MY SCHOOL BUT THEY ARE A GOOD TEAM. AND YOU HAVE TO RESPECT THAT .

I just want to inform you that Greenbrier is very good! Trust me when I say this, there is only 1 girl on that team that has a shot at playing Division 1 Volleyball. I would like to think that the other 2 may have shot, but I really dont see it.

Just my .02 (again sorry VBD)

  8. Come on harpua, tell the truth, you are a Matrix fan also......at least, that's why I picked Trinity. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Lexington could give Chester Co. a run for their money, but CC has been playing better of late. Jax SS will have to play exceptional to beat Trinity.

You got me....I loved it in the 2nd episode when she jumps out the windows full guns ablaze. Its pretty killer! That & I fully expect Trinity to be in "THE BORO" and to put up a good fight against some of these other A/AA Schools

  9. It wouldnt really matter who district 8AAA played against. 9 times out of 10 they are going to have 2 teams go to state. I agree that this is not fair that every year, that district get to take Tuesday off before the Sectional, but what is the suggestion? How do you fix it? Skip districts and just have a seeded Regional? You know that the money whore TSSAA isnt going to allow that!

I agree that something needs to change, but as long as everyone has to play by the TSSAA Rules IT WILL NEVER CHANGE

  10. Not to be a bearer of bad news, but yeah the Memphis schools should save their time and money. I would be willing to bet that the Memphis #1 is upset by Ensworth this Sat. Im calling for a total sweep. The 4 schools that come out will be Ryan, GPS Bruisers (Best team name in all of TN I might add) Harpeth Hall, and Ensworth.

I am assuming that Hutchison is the #1 and I hear they have a real amazing player on that team. I would bet a moon-pie and a sundrop that Ensworth goes down there and wins.

    Just my $0.02 (sorry)

  11. Who is the firm and from what school?

Please dont rekindle this!!!!! Just so you know, "the firm" are a bunch of kids you are from Soddy Daisy.....apparently they were raising heck at the Page tourny. This has since caused a 2 weeks argument as to what is good or bad cheering.

To be honest its a dead horse and its been hit by about 106-18-Wheelers

  12. Wow. Pretty impressive scores against a well coached and talented GPS team. Game 2 looks like it was a good one. Good win for Ryan.

HHALL always seems to be in the mix come tourney time. Are they the sleeper?

Game 2 Father Ryan came back from 17-24......a good one doesnt quite cut it!!!!!!!!!

  13. So you shouldn't allow it in volleyball since they don't allow it in tennis or golf. Well that makes sense because volleyball, tennis and golf are so much alike. Why should it be allowed during a free throw at a basketball game or a penalty kick in soccer? It only makes sense if you can't do it at tennis or golf, right?. Also, don't blame the coach on it it's not like she knew the ref was deaf. The Firm was warned not to yell during the serve in that game so they didn't do it anymore. but the line judge who was standing in front of The Firm tried to accuse one of them for saying something during a serve again(which they didn't) so he told the ref about it, who was deaf so he couldn't make a judgment on it so he had to go with what the judge said and throw the kid out. The line judge was a parent from Harding, who Soddy was playing at the time

I cant believe that this has really been debated for so long. Im sorry but stomping the bleachers and yelling at the server is not wrong nor is it unsporting. You tell me how that is unsporting when you can sit behind the backboard of a basketball game and wave flags while screaming your lungs out. Kinda seems like the same thing to me. This is high school athletics and its about the kids. Let them cheer and so long as they do not scream directly at the player by calling her name or number then let it be.

GLJ your best asset may very well be your biggest demise. You know the rules, you understand the game. You just need to loosen up man. Kids are gonna yell and fans are gonna stomp the bleachers. Thats totally ok to do!

  14. Today at Linclon County

1 p.m. Tullahoma vs. Lincoln County

3 p.m. Coffee County vs. Columbia

    6 p.m. Championship Game

The nice looking young guy you are talking about with Coffee County might be Andrew Taylor. He is the head boys' basketball coach and assistant volleyball coach. He's also a great guy. The head coach for the volleyball team is also the girls' basketball head coach. Sorry, but his name always escapes me, but he, too, is a nice guy.

Sorry but Andrew Taylor is not a nice guy! I hope for Coffee Counties Girls Volleyball program that he knows more about volleyball than he does basketball. This is just my opinion and I guess shame on me for voicing it here. BUT I COULDNT RESIST

  15. Huge difference in clapping and chanting vs. kicking the bleachers with your heels. The latter will quite possibly get you in trouble, as it's an artificial noisemaker. The former is just good fan involvement.Huge difference in clapping and chanting vs. kicking the bleachers with your heels. I dont agree that stomping the bleachers is an artificial noisemaker. I want to see it in the guidelines before I believe it.

  16. When I was at the Page tournament I saw a Mt. Juliet dad sit down beside the boys and threaten to break their arms because they were yelling during the girls serving. I would have been right there with him because I agree with him. Somebody should do something about those kids.

Are you kidding me your gonna break their arms for "yelling when the girls are serving"..........you need to chill out! There are no rules against yelling when someone serves. You sit directly behind someone serving and yell as loud as you want, just so long as you are not directing anything negative or personal at that person. I cant believe that you guys are so clueless on how badly this sport needs fan support. Students from the school yelling when the opponents team is serving is not "arm breaking worthy". The nice BOOB and Lesbian Comments certainly are. If I were ever at a gym and heard that I too would be in line to break some arms.

Let the fans be fans....ITS WHAT HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS IS ALL ABOUT PEOPLE

  17. It's the mommas at our place that are rowdy...but I LOVE 'EM! All are beautiful and they don't talk ugly. They're just LOUD!

    Go Lady Cat Mommas! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I love Greebrier and all their fans and parents.....the only problem that I have with Greenbrier is the "flashing lights into the receiving teams eyes" I have heard that this has been a problem. Sportsmanship is key in High School Athletics. If the Flashing bulbs rumor is true I just hope that the officials take care of it.
