  1. Also the Higgins kid is incredible. Made several plays just on being the best athlete on the field.
  2. The OR freshman team must have had 50 players. That bodes well for the future if you can keep them in the program. Never know if one or more of those kids could be a diamond in the rough. Farragut freshman numbers are painfully down, maybe 25 kids. You could tell the drop off in the second half when they started wearing down.
  3. No! Please don't move on to Clinton. This better than Jerry Springer, Nancy Grace, and Maury all rolled into one. The mighty Wildcat Nation reduced to name calling and arguing like 6 year olds. Hilarious.
  4. Also you should send the 8ft tall guy out for the coin toss just for intimidation.
  5. I did like your #34 & 35 on defense. Thought they played tough all night.
  6. SS, can't we at least have this one?
  7. Also felt good to get the Joe Gaddis Era II started off right. I'm sure as a former Farragut assistant coach he really wanted this one. Maybe next year Joe.
  8. Was really surprised how unorganized OR looked in the first half. They struggled to line up correctly on both sides of the ball. Farragut showed a new 2 TE set that they haven't run in a couple of years, which accounts for the defensive issues for OR. Offensively it looked bad. They did settle down well in the second half and played much better. Farragut played well without their starting RB and starting DE. Was glad to see Soph RB Tanner Thomas (#1) get a chance to show what he could do getting starting carries.
  9. I see Farragut winning, but I am scared enough to feel uneasy about it. The thing is I'm not sure how much better personnel-wise Farragut is this year than the 3-7 team last year. They are much improved attitude-wise so maybe that will be the difference. You can never count on the mindset of these West Knoxville kids.
  10. I doubt OR will have to play lights out to beat Farragut. As a matter of fact, I think Farragut will have to really play well to beat OR. I know some of you see Farragut's DB score and get concerned but I'm telling you that DB doesn't have much at all. Farragut should have beat them, but DB was as weak as I've ever seen them.
  11. Pretty sure Farragut knocked DB out in the playoffs a couple of times in the last 10 years when Sensabaugh was your RB. Anyway, my point was a number of Knoxville area teams have been re-classified between 5A and 6A, I didn't know if the Tri-cities area had experienced the same.
  12. What's left for DB? Was this game considered the their toughest challenge? I know some folks poke fun at upper ET as fairly weak in FB past DB, but hasn't Science Hill shown a resurgence lately? I know in Knoxville there's been quite a reshuffling of teams and classifications. Is there another 6A team in upper ET besides DB and SH?
  13. So now that you've moved to arguably the weakest classification in the state, you're going to use the old tired "our small, slow, weak kids" line that Maryville has run into the ground? Not very original.
  14. Bounder, Farragut played better than I expected, just didn't make the plays when they needed, and gave the game away in the end. DB is not very good. They are very limited in the skill positions.
  15. Very ugly, yet exciting game. Farragut had chances to put the game away and was turned away. I'll say this for DB, they don't look like much compared to DB teams I've seen in the past 10 years, but they fought all game long. Farragut's kicker is a sophomore, and this was his first real football game ( I think ). Wasn't fair that he had that much pressure on him (2 missed FG's) but that's life. Farragut played better at times than I thought they would, and probably dominated statistically. Congrats to DB for winning in the only statistic that really matters.
  16. If Farragut goes up and gets embarrassed like last year by DB, I'm not sure they'll recover for OR the following week. Farragut has big time depth issues this year. Getting their D off the field will be crucial against DB. They also cannot have any injuries on the OL.
  17. I assume that all teams that aren't playing week zero are exchanging scrimmage tapes anyway. I would think it would favor OR maybe slightly as they may see what Farragut likes to do in crunch time. However, scrimmages cannot compare to real games for gauging your team. Pro's and con's, but my opinion is slight advantage to Farragut.
  18. Farragut appears much improved defensively. Offense is another story. At times they have appeared to have it figured out and moving forward, other times they look lost. #4, big te, is being moved around, lining up in the backfield at times. RB #20 looks similar to #1 Fain from last year, just not as fast. QB is the same, small, fast, with strong arm, but has shown inconsistency lately. Maybe the fact that the wr corps hasn't all been healthy at the same time has contributed to his inconsistency. Farragut's Achilles heel has been depth, so hopefully everyone will be healthy by Thursday and stay that way
  19. Someone mentioned that DB has switched from wing to spread formation??? I know you guys lost some speed to graduation, but that seems a bit drastic. Not sure if I'll make it next week due to it being on a Thursday night, but I think Farragut may put up a better showing than the embarrassment they showed last year.
  20. BR, was having a discussion with MLREB, which you, because you didn't bother to comprehend the discussion, tried to turn it into an argument (as you do in every OR thread).

  22. Still have nightmares of Bohannon and Summers on the toss sweep from the I formation.
  23. I suspect its about time teams returned to power formations. Spread formation has had a good run, but as cyclical as football is I think teams will start moving toward something different. There was a time wing-t was the rage in this region of the state. Now that most teams run a version of a 3 front defensively do you agree that offenses will begin to evolve away from the spread?
  24. BR, MLREB asked me my thoughts if it happened to Farragut in a championship game. You've ruined every OR thread, please don't start in the Farragut threads.
