  1. Wow! What a good day for the Stars. Did Zeke play? If not who played quarterback? How did Siegel score? Is FC really down or has Siegel improved that much? Has anyone heard anything from the Blackman/Brentwood Academy scrimmage today?
  2. Is precious getting any work with the varstiy? How big is he? I had heard that he got pretty thick over the summer.
  3. I believe the scrimmage is at 3:00 today.
  4. Blackman is scrimmaging against Brentwood Academy tomorrow at Blackman. I need someone to go for me, because we have practice at MTSU tomorrow afternoon also!
  5. haha...Yeah I think I know who you are. You were in Coach Mac's class. I think I talked to you at the scrimmage on Thursday?
  6. Well. him not being able to practice today really hurt. Everyday he's not out there really hurts. Hes not exactly great, but hes the best they've got. And at times last year he was better than Locke. He's got a great arm, thats for sure. Now that we know that his knee will be ok, the only question is his confidence when he gets back. A knee injury is a very scary injury, especially for a QB because you stand back there in the pocket and it feels like everybody gets a free shot at you. I hurt my knee my sophomore year, and even though nothing was torn I still didnt have complete confidence in it until I took that first real shot and realize my knee was fine. The quicker he gets back and regains that confidence again the better off he'll be. Because if he's not there Mauricio definatley isnt a quarterback that can threaten a team at all threw the air. So all teams will do with him is stack 10 guys in the box and make him throw the ball to beat them. And the other sophomore quarterback (Shephard) has a great arm, but is a long way from being ready to play quarterback at this level.
  7. Yeah I got there for about the last 20 minutes.
  8. Well good news about Blackman's QB's knee. It looks like it is just a strained knee and maybe a high ankel sprain. He should be ready by week 0!
  9. Hey sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you all about the scrimmage. Well, lets just say it could of gone better... They started off by doing alot of drill work(Inside Drill, Pass Skell,ect...) And Blackman pretty much dominated every single drill except pass skell. At one point the Blackman coaches had to pull Mimms out of a drill because he literally just couldnt be stopped. He scored about 5 straight times! They they finally got to scrimmaging after about an hour rain delay. But it wasnt a true game situation scrimmage. First Franklin had 10 plays on offense, then it was Blackman's turn. Franklin is pretty tough with that new offense. Their QB and WR #1 are both for real!!! Franklin scored twice on two very well thrown deep balls. Blackman started their first drive and was moving the ball pretty well. Then on about the 5th play Cave scrambled to his right and made a heck of a move to avoid about 5 Franklin defenders then tried to spin to avoid another one and got hit in his knee as he was spinning. He was in alot of pain, but the trainer said he didnt think anything was torn, but they will have to wait to see what the x-rays say. After Cave went out they put the Wallace kid in a QB and he and Mimms just took turns running the ball. But in Blackman's defense. That is a pretty tough offense to scheme for in just one day. I believe if you had a week or so to game plan for them you could do some things with the secondary that could slow that offense down. Plus it looked like to me that the effects of having 4-a-day practices at camp took a toll on the kids. They didnt exactly have very fresh legs. But as usual Mimms put on a show. I know of atleast one kid that will have nightmares tonight about #20 running over him. BHSOL, dont be to quick to judge Mimms. I coached him in basketball as a freshman and I can say that it would be hard to find a kid that wants to win worse than Jeremy. Maybe you think hes a little cocky, but you have to remember hes a different type of player than Rico. Rico wasnt much of a vocal leader. Rico led more by his actions than he did his words. Mimms if very much a vocal leader. But he also has the game to back up his words. If some of the upper class men had a problem with him his Freshman year its because he got in their butt's about not playing hard enough. And he should have. That senior class was the laziess bunch of players I have every seen. All Jeremy wanted was to win, and play at a high level, and he was but unfortunatley there were seniors that continued to throw in the towel every friday night, and I can tell you right now that does not cut it with him. And about the whole news paper thing. You have to think about the kind of back ground this kid is coming from. Early in his life the only attention he was getting was bad attention for things he was doing wrong. So having his name in the paper for playing well is a big deal to him. It means he is getting a differnt type of attention than he is used to.
  10. Yeah I will be there. Did you graduate from Blackman? If so, what year? If not, how did you get involved with the program? I graduated from there in '02, and played quarterback there my junior and senior years. There has been a little change in plans with the scrimmage tomorrow. The Blaze will now be scrimmaging Franklin tomorrow. I just hope they can make it after a rough 3 days at camp. I talked to one of the players and some coaches tonight, an it sure sounds like they worked pretty hard while they were away. 4 practices on Monday!!!(3 in pads!) Sure am glad Alsup didnt do that in my day. p.s. You all have to give rhshasbeen a break. You have to remember where hes coming from, if a player doesnt wear red and gold then they cant be worth a flip. But I guarantee you hes not that bad of a guy, I have to work with the guy so I should know.
  11. Yeah I talked to Mac on Sunday before they left for camp, and the scrimmage is on Thursday at 4.
  12. Blackman is scrimmaging against Marshall Co. on Thursday at 4 at BHS. As for camp they are at Western Kentucky until Wednesday night.
  13. Come on Warrior, you know better. Anybody that was half way descent in high school got that "call" when they were entering their 9th grade year.(I know I did.) Shoot I even got a ride to practice my first day over there as a freshman.
  14. Oh dont get me wrong I hope Riverdale goes up there and hangs 50 on those boys. It only makes the state look better.
  15. Does anyone know what has happened to the kid that played quarterback at Oakland last year. I know he was kicked off, but I heard he was trying to go to either Siegel or Riverdale. I just havent heard much about him lately. I figured either Priceless or some of the other OHS faithful could tell us whats up with that situation.
  16. Warrior, I know about Riverdale's trip to Disney World and I would of loved to see how they would of faired down there. All I was saying is that Kilbourne isnt exactly the callibur of team that will truely measure where Riverdale ranks among the best. Im not real sure if you will ever be able to get a true evaluation of that. All I was saying is that it would be nice to see Riverdale play a team like Hoover, instead of playing a team that will just be another easy "W". As for my researching background, I used to play at Riverdale for two years before playing at Blackman. So I know how things work over there.
  17. Moos has never been on the staff at MTSU. He played there for a year or two but ended up quitting. As for the Pitts guy, Ive never heard of him. Im starting my 4th year on the MTSU staff and there hasnt been anyone named Pitts that has been on staff while Ive been here.
  18. Falcon. This is the first i have heard of Blackman having their own broadcast team. I know that the school has their own radio station, does anyone know if it is just going to be a student run thing or are they going to bring people in to do it especially for Blackman.
  19. What about this one... Riverdale vs Hoover, Al. Instead of Riverdale going to nowhere Ohio and playing some team that they will make out to be God's before the game. Just so when they go up there and beat this team by 50, they can come back home and tell everyone that they can play with anyone in the nation. Play someone that is from a traditionally strong football state and that is a recognize football powerhouse.(like...Midland Lee, TX. or just about any team out of the state of Florida for that matter.) I think it would just be fun to see how they match up to a team that sends alot of players to D-1 school.
  20. When is Siegel's first scrimmage? And against who?
  21. Oh Riverdaleman, Ive been trying to figure out which name you were under but after the "Riverdale Reject" comment theres no doubt now. You know I cant help but think how things might be a little different if my reciever had held on to the ball in '01, or Baker didnt make that play(Which ever way you like to look at it!) haha!
  22. Im sure Matt Forrest will do fine. And I guess we'll all find out week 0! As for the mood at BHS, all the new assistants are there, and everything is starting to take shape. I still think they are a year away from being back where we were a few years ago. They are starting alot of sophomores this year which may be a good thing for the future. But aslong as they give the ball to Mimms 25 times a game they should be ok. But Im looking forward to seeing how it shakes out in a couple of weeks at "The Inferno"
  23. My Predictions... 1. Riverdale--No brainer! 2. Wilson Cen--Getting Better 3. Lebanon--I hate to say it. 4. Smyrna--Could be better. 5. Blackman--Better than expected, but still a year away. 6. Oakland--No quarterback...No playoffs. 7. Siegel--Could be better. 8. LaVergne--No hope. In my opinion, theres Riverdale and then theres everyone else in this region. Whoever the last 3 playoff teams are that come out of this region I dont see any of them making much noise in the playoffs.
