Carthage coach- Apple played at Carthage in high school and was Co. Sanders assistant.

Coach Sanders is in his 2nd year at Gville where he played high school basketball.

He and Co. Apple remain good friends.

I agree totally U must build your offense around that type of player- I guess

I was being selfish- knowing some of the other players and realizing

what good athletes they are but knowing they will ALWAYS take a back burner

to her??? But thats what TEAM is all about..

Honeymoon or no honeymoon Gville should be proud to have Co. Sanders

to lead the Tigers

Carthage has some good athletes on that team NO DOUBT Now whether they r being used

to their highest potential could be questioned. Yes Ferris is so hard to stop- but when she went

out it was obvious to everyone in the gym (sc fans too) that the rest of the team was sorta

lost. Owens played one on one and beat her man over and over but as far as knowing

what to do or where to go they appeared lost. Didnt matter though cause Gville DID nothing

to take advantage of this situation. They continuously got beat to basket, couldnt hit anything

just stunk it up all around basically. I guess I would like to see some of those athletes on Carthage

turned loose and not have to be so dependent on Farris on offensive end to do it all. Smith has

the talent on the bench....

Yea it was definate that Carthage wanted it more. Congrats to them!

The post about the coaches seeming to have quit is really unfair- when the other

team shoots 78% from the 3 point line plus hit just about every shot

they threw up there. They had a good game plan and followed thru with it.

Well the Tiggers did not fair very well Friday night. With Ferris out with 3 fouls

the Tigerettes should have built up a lead. I don't remember them shooting

but 1 three point basket the whole first half. 3 pointers are a big part of their

offense. Not sure what happened there??? Seemed to never settle down-beat themselves..

Hope they Tigers play with just as much emotion and fire power as the last game.

True Carthage will have home court advantage but hopefully Tigers can overcome

all that....

I was at the game on somewhat of an assignment to scout for an upcoming game. I thought the officials did a nice job. It wasn't like it was the best played game by either team. It was actually a pretty sloppy game. I knew all of the officials and none of them were new. I believe one of the male officials worked the State Tourny last year. The lady official works women's college basketball. I have an older daughter that plays at Roane State and have seen and talked to the lady official before while officiating my daughter's game. The walk against the Macon Co. girl at the end when she was trying to call a timeout was a great call. The girl took a whole step before she even signaled for a timeout. I noticed Butch from Macon Co. didn't say a word about the call. He obviously seen it too!

 

I'm not saying the officials were 100% but neither team was either! It was a hard fought game by both teams. I thought both teams, especially Friendship missed a lot of open layups and free-throws.. You can't expect to win a game while missing the easy shots.

Well obviously u were at the Macon Co game since thats who you keep referring to instead of Gordonsville-Friendship?????

I wasn't talking about either of the men- they have both been around a while and usually do an ok job. As far as the lady referee- college lady hoops is different game than high school I am sure you will agree. I have seen her about 3 times this year MEANING she must be new to our area. With all that said the call about time out may have been right in front of you-if so you were near me. However it was very far away from gville bench and Butch couldn't see what happened anyway.

I agree it was a sloppy game and I have very little complaints about the refereeing last night-it's just in general

that they are not what they used to be but neither is anything else so There You Go!!!!

Agree on all points #16 is good kid with ties both siides of the river.

Bass is back as is Austin Lankford at receiver.

And Gville will need some leadership-hopefully provided by JD Butler and

Woodmore and Sanders....

I haven't seen Westmoreland-Always tuff -Especially at home

It was a good game and boys was good game till end too..

We had 2 veteran officials but one newby. One of our players called time out and

got called for a walk???? Late in the game too??

I don't know but good officiated games seem to be fewer and farther apart

this year???

As for qb I think it will be Zach (just an opinion) He played more backup in games.

As one sided as it appeared during girl's contest it appeared

just as one sided to Gville fans during boy's contest...

Not a great shooting night for the lady tiggers but a win is a win

If Gville girls don't STOP that Warmath girl from dribbling all

the way down the floor and shootin IT WONT MATTER

Got really sick of watching that last year... I almost jumped out

of the bleachers and guarded her myself. Nobody attempted

to slow her down. That was at FCS last year. I think the tigerettes

will give the commandos a good game on their home court tonight!

It is soooo hard, dang nigh impossible to go into Westmoreland and bring home a victory.

Home court is BIG at Westmoreland.... Gotta pick Westy because of this!

What I saw last night is a team from watertown that didn't give up, even though they gettin the stew beat out of them. That's a team that I want out there not a team that will quit when things get hard. If a player quits before a game because they didn't want get embarrassed. then GET OFF THE TEAM!!I want players who bust there cans when there out there. in the long run the Team will be better without the quitters. Instead of worry about the coach. Maybe you should be worry about the parents that let their child become a quitter.

U seem REALLY touchy about the coach...must be him...

Yeah I bet when the football team lost 4 in a row this year you wrote them off as not fun to watch. I'm sure you thought they make to the 2nd round on the playoffs when they where sitting at 1-4.

 

Also another point is you didn't offend me you insulted WATERTOWN and all of the coaching staff on all the sports care I've seen them all at each others games

It was definately not my intent to insult anyone from Watertown. I can just say you totally didnt get the point I was trying to make and call it at that...

Havent seen WHS girls play yet this year but have friends in low places that are very unhappy with season and coach so far this season...

Why didnt number 14 for Clay not get to play?? And also why did number 5 for the Tigers only come in once for a short period of time?? I dont know if he was sick or made the coach mad or what but he seems to be one of their good players i thought.... But this was a good game, Gville had their chance to win but let it slip..Officiating was terrible both ways i agree, they did horrible.. No 5 for the Tiger is McCaleb boy I think.??? Not sure about playing time - guess the coach was getting what he thought he needed at the time out of the players he had out there.
