  1. Oppressed, don't throw me into that category. I wouldn't dare. I have a feeling of who you are and know the support that person has for AC. Sorry if something I said earlier may have caused you to think I would.

Ok, AC has to play lights out. I am thrilled for this matchup for I truely believe AC will play them better. I was told that some kids said that they just didn't feel right. That could be nerves, heat, or who knows what. However, Powell had their race face on and took care of business. I believe this will be a better effort by AC simlply due to last night. Mo West set their defense up very close to what Powell did and had some success. AC adjusted, made plays, and came back believing they could win. I wish our kicker had gotten some fieldgoal attempts in the regular season to be a little more familar with trying to make one from some distance. We may need him to try again. I also was told last night that Powells big TE was out for the season. Is this true and is he one of those DE that crashed in on Tanner getting him somewhat out of his game?

Also saw where the Knoxville News Sentiel didn't think the AC/Mo West game was worth a story. Guess they feel AC will be a non issue in Powells title march.

Colonel...there's a lot of folks around town have a suspicion of who I might be. It's sort of comical if you think about it. (Not in the least that it matters, of course.)

Powell IS a different team. ANDERSON COUNTY IS, ALSO!

True that, about our kicking game. Not sure about the DE from Powell. If so, though, I hope Tanner takes the experience from Friday night, builds on that and TAKES IT to Powell.

Love what Gillum and the Prices have done with incorporating the running game. The defence has a new ATTITUDE. I LIKE IT!!!

Should be a great game. Good Luck to both teams. May they both be injury free. GO MAVS!

P.S.....sounds like Knox News Sentinel needs to learn what I did years ago. NEVER underestimate the heart of a Maverick!lol

  2. At the risk of having my "SUPPORT" for the Mavs questioned by the GENERAL and COLONEL and PRIVATE FIRST CLASS....

MAVS.....Are you ready, this time, for Powell's Mobile QB???

Should be interesting to say the least.

Offense sells tickets. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!! GO MAVS!!!!!

  3. Suspend him 1 game or whatever I wouldn't get rid of him for the season. Look at what the kid sees on tv week after week with the Vol players that are about 8 miles down the road. Setting a good example

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Powell will do just fine, with or without Mobley. Their mobile qb is their main threat.

Is anyone concerned about the kid, or is everyone only concerned about the player?

  4. Whoa Nellie! That just ain't credible. Why would the Prices team with Josh Kerr? I agree they're head coaching material but if I'm either of them I'm waiting on something else. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part but I just don't think they'll leave right now.

My thinking exactly! Of course, Devilsden would love to see another Kerr at Halls! ;)

  5. good opressed im glad you do... its like my old coach joe gaddis used to say "they can hate, so long as they respect" if they hate us, just means were good, and there jealous of our success ;) take care opressesd

True that, man! Just kinda makes you feel all warm and fuzzie inside, huh?

  6. Its called "respect" space, but im sure you dont know what that is.... :roflol:

GEEEEEEEEZE, 92D! I'm all for respect and all.... but, doesn't anybody just "HATE" each other for the competitive nature of it all anymore? You guys take all the fun out of hating. You know what I mean? Let's just get back to the good ole days when hating Clinton and Oak Ridge was a GOOD thing! You know...makes the old blood boil and all when you think about playing them and beating their butts. I am having trouble "processing" all the love. hahahahaha

...take it easy on an old school kinda guy, PLEASE!

Sorry...I know. I'm having another MOMENT.

I'm going with OR on this one. And, NO, SS...I do NOT love you guys. It's just that CC sucks. You guys are by far the better team. (Don't read anything in to that last statement.) I still hate you! :thumb:

  7. Glad this game is being played so close to Halloween... It's gonna be scary ugly!! I'm cheering for Karns but Eskridge is a one man wrecking crew. He's all HV has but he is apparently all they need. HV 21 Karns 7

Eskridge IS a one man wrecking crew when he's healthy. I wonder how his sprained ankle is. Anyone know? Is he all HV has? No. Of course, not. Bishop at qb looks good, also. Good Luck to both teams. I'm going with HV.

  8. wow, ill be totally honest... i went to this game tonight and came away really impressed with AC... they bottled up eskridge pretty much all night... Ac ran the ball A LOT more than they did against oak ridge and it really worked well... you see how much better they are with a balanced attack rather than just passing it and passing it every down.. #15 for AC is a real player, that guy was everywhere tonight, what a game by him..

    BUMP!

  9. While you ae entitle to your opinion, it sure doesn;t mean much. You jump on the bandwagon when AC wins and jump on the complaining, bashing wagon when they lose. You are living in the past and to compare Price and Longmire with Williams is not fair for any of them. AC has had one of the best two years in a long time by going to quarterfinals last year and looks like 8-2 this year. The over 5.0 forty time was for Tyler Brey that is QB for Tennessee and Williams is much faster than that.

Oh well, as far as the price supporters you are when they are winning and then you tell them what defense to run when they lose. Your opinions are just that opinions. The system Gillum runs doesn't give you an arm that can throw the ball 70 yards in the air or make you accurate to your receivers. Interceptions are going to come when you pass almost every down, but the td/int. ratio is overwhelmingly good even when you compare it to college elite. I have no idea why you are negative. True mav fans support their team without trying to bash them. Oh well, you have a great day Mr. Oppressed, but you truly are oppresive, get a life and support these kids. I guess you will start bashing whoever is suppose to be the qb or running back next year soon, because that is your style. Support this team, quit hollering who should be in there at running back or what they should be doing when you really have no clue and are not at the practices each day. I think they are doing fine and they have had a great season. Thanks for the offer for the Klenex tissues but sounds to me like you might need them unless we get to the state championship and win, you will be crying about something else they should have done.

    Aaaaah, General,Corporal, Sargeant,etc.

How do you know I am not at practices every day??? What you call bashing is merely constructive criticism. It just iritates you because I am not on Williams bandwagon. Never have been. Get over it. It is, what it is. Just my opinion, as I've stated before. Just like your opinion. I guess if we all tried to suppress each other's "opinions", CoachT would be out of business, huh?

Not only can I supply you with Kleenex tissue, I also, can provide you with emotional support and a pat on the back every now and then. How much do you contribute through the booster club every year? Hahahahaha....

P.S......and yes, I would love to see the MAV's bring home a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. GO MAVS!!!

  10. It seems oppressed always has something negative to say whether it be williams or trying to tell the prices how to coach. I believe it was oppressed who didn't even think williams would be the qb 2 years ago, so that says how much he knows. After breaking records and leading a team nobody thought would even make the play-offs he still finds something negative to say. Williams can run when needed, but they don't want him to run from what I know. Can Peyton Manning run, can Tyler Brey run and I believe he has a 40 time of above 5.0. Oh well, if oppressed us such a good coach and can tell the Prices how to run things he should go to school and get his degree and get into coaching. I am of the opinion that if you have nothing good to say don't say anything at all. He has bashed Williams from the start, and now he can;t handle pressure? Mr. Oppressed do you remember the Clinton game in the playoffs last year? You don;t get anymore pressure than that. This team was not good enough to go undefeated and should have beaten Oak Ridge but didn't, but it seems you only look at the positive with a negative spin!

Colonel...oh,my bad...I mean General. We're all entitled to our opinions. And, yes I am the one who never really believed in Williams. I'm still not totally convinced it is not Coach Gillum's system. Once again, I believe Tanner is a great kid. That has nothing to do with his athletic ability. Peyton Manning is a great guy. He NEVER beat Florida, though. Does that mean he is not a good qb? No. Of course, not. Does that mean he has room for improvement? Yes, he does. Even Peyton is man enough to admit that and not get his shorts in a bind. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Prices. My opinion/advise seems to have bothered you a lot more than it did them.

Maybe I've misinterpreted your statement about the 5.0 forty time. Unless you're a lineman that's not very impressive. Once again, just my opinion.

You might look at my statements as being negative (I personally think I've hurt your lil ole feelin's)but being realistic is what they are. You have my permission to interpret them any way you want to. (Now,now, now. How's that? Much better? ...just picture me handing you a Kleenex tissue right about now)

At the end of the day, I'm a MAVERICK fan. Through and through. I have my opinions, just like everyone else. I hope you're not suggesting to EVERYONE on CoachT, that in order to express an opinion, they must get a degree and get into coaching. Besides that, HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT I DON'T?

I'll show you mine, if you'll show me yours. hahahaha

You have a good evening. I hope YOU are going to the AC/HV game tonight to support Tanner.... and the MAVS.

    GO MAVS!!! :thumb:

P.S............Clinton's defense last year couldn't be compared to Powell's defense this year. Or the fact that Coach L did his homework when we played Powell this year.

Are you saying that the TEAM alone lost to Oak Ridge this year when they should have won? Would you agree that the two interceptions played a part in that loss because of the PRESSURE Oak Ridge's defense exhibited?

  11. I hope Powell wasn't overlooking either team, but you never know. HVA had only lost one game going into that game against Powell, so I would hope the Panthers weren't overlooking them. Clinton's decision to put Patrick at QB made a huge difference in their game versus Powell. It's possible that OR came out flat after their win against AC. Powell had the same problem against Karns, which was the week following the blowout against AC.

I'm sure AC is ready to give HVA their best shot, and I'm sure they aren't overlooking the Hawks. I like AC, I think they are a very talented group. I know they are going to do damage again in the playoffs, but one fact still remains - the Mavs have only beaten one team with a winning record (Mo East) this season. Obviously, they're going to get another shot against a winning team in HVA, who is arguably the most well-coached team in the district, but I just don't think AC will "win big." I think AC will win, but I expect a close game (27-24 AC).

Eskridge is a talented back, they have a good QB, and a solid offensive line, but they've gotten to 6-2 because they play excellent defense (much like Powell and OR). I don't think they are as talented as Powell or OR in the secondary, but HVA is the best tackling team I've seen all year.

    Bump!

  12. Thanks Oppressed. You are absolutely right in throwing my statement back at me. I said alot of wrong in that one sentence by simply referring to Tanner Williams needing to produce under pressure. I need to detail my view a lot better for it to be considered better. I was mainly thinking of this season so far. Williams has put up great numbers so far against teams that maybe he should. Against Powell and Oak Ridge, he had good numbers, but he didn't overcome the bad situation at hand to put up great numbers (200-300 yards is average for him as well as throwing in that offense). I understand that the rush was extreme in those two games and that they jammed the receivers up very well. I see those tough (or impossible) moments of adversity as opportunities. It is my understanding that no major universities are recruiting Williams at this point. The games were AC has faced overpowering defenses are the times when he can increase his stock for that recruiting process by doing the impossible. Is that easier said than done, yes it is. Many a player has elevated himself to that higher level by some getting it done in the bleakest situation. And sometimes when it seems like he did it without help. I hope to see Tanner Williams someday treking the same path as Chad Pennington, who got it done when it seemed impossible. And I believe he can.

I apologize, Colonel. Not meaning to throw anything at anyone. Just calling it as I see it. Not Tanner's fault we're not optimizing the run to free up the pass. (I know that statement sounds silly with Tanner's numbers, however, opposing defenses must be kept "honest" with the running game.) Tanner has such great potential. Would like to see him capitalize on it. Wish him all the best on and off the football field. GO MAVS!

  13. lol...i can see where that wouldnt feel right opp. I tell you what doesnt feel right to me are the one sided stadiums like AC and CC have. I never have liked those kind of stadiums for some reason. I guess im just old school.

You know, I've thought that for years. Just doesn't seem right, does it? I wish AC would put bleachers on the other side of the football field. We sure could use them when we play Clinton and Oak Ridge. Those big gates would pay for them in no time flat!!

  14. oh lord, can i really sit on clintons side? asking myself this lol

SS...Clinton redid their stadium this past year, or so. (Very nice. Don't tell any of the Clinton folks I said that, please.) They swapped their "home" side over to what used to be the "visitor" side. Anyways, to make a long story short, us AC fans had to sit on what used to be the Clinton "home" side, literally. After 20 or so years of sitting on the "visitor" side, it totally felt WRONG!!! haha

  15. Forgive me Powell fans, I'm sorry, I don't remember the Powell qb's name that played against Anderson County. Just wanted to say I hope he's OK. He and his mobility is really what beat AC. Your rb's chipped in also, but I was very impressed with your qb's play. Someone told me he was only a jr. Anywho...best wishes. (That is of course, unless we see you again! :thumb:)

  16. My feeling is that OR did not take HV serious and played less emotional ball than it did against Maryville, AC, etc (let down, I guess). However, I will not take anything away from HV. I know they have talent and have gelled quickly as a upstart program. I think OR's misfortune will be AC's blessing in that they now see HV in the same light as Powell. This game will also be good for AC in the same sence that they play better and focused with their backs against the wall. The remaining games from here out will be gut testers. Williams needs to have a great game when the pressure is on and I think this will be it. AC by 9.

    .....when the pressure is on.

Colonel, I love this Williams kid. He's a fine young man. Very humble. Very quickly and unselfishly gives credit where credit is due. That would, of course, be to his linemen and receivers/backs. HIS NUMBERS DON'T LIE!!! (And he throws a pretty mean spiral!) That being said, I am and have always been VERY concerned about his ability to handle PRESSURE. Gillum's system has been in place a couple of years now and the "Powells" and "Oak Ridges" have done their homework on this system. They know. Williams, even with all his numbers, is NOT a Justin Price or a Paul Longmire. He IS NOT very mobile. PRESSURE does not make him dangerous. I would love to see him not only improve in these two areas, but master them as well. The sky would be the limit for this fine young man if that happened. Anyways, Good Luck Mavs.

Hardin Valley just might beat AC. Their running back is tough. Their qb is for real, too. When a passing team passes all the time and does not have any significant running game to speak of, how does their defense practice/prepare to beat running teams efficiently? (No offense meant to you Mr. Hutson. I think you do a great job when you do get the ball. I would like to see a little bit more of it along with a lot more of Mr. Mabe running the ball, also. Mabe's had some great catches this year. The kid has so much more to contribute to his team. Does the word FULLBACK mean anything to anybody any more? I know. I know. I'm OLD school. Do the words BALANCED OFFENSE mean anything to anybody anymore? I know. I know. Just my 2 cents worth.....

  17. Thats right I say do away with the wing-t. That offense aint no good never has been. I think we ought to go to something more wide open, throw it around 40-50 times agame, just like AC. Wait a minute, Powell just beat the daylights out of Ac, so dont put that offense in. I also forgot, Webb beats the daylight out of everybody they play, Central, Halls, Powell, Bearden, so lets put that offense in. Dang we cant do that , cause they run the wingt. So what does that leave us to run? We run what the coaches know will work. Now all we have to figure out is what do they know and what can they teach and what can our players learn and do. What does our underclassman look for the future? Do we have good 9 & 10 graders? Do we have good 7 & 8 graders. If not then we are in deep pooh-pooh!

A GOOD coach knows the strengths and weaknesses of his team personnel(players, that is!) Is able to adjust accordingly. Just like a GOOD defense, you take what is given to you and capitolize. Is it the OFFENSE being run? Or is it what your PERSONNEL is GOOD at running? Offensively, do you run this or that? Or do you NOT limit yourself and figure out what your team strengths are or might be? Like CZAR stated, it all begins in little league and middle school. If the head coach is one dimensional, your team will be also. Just my humble opinion...Good Luck, Halls.

  18. WOW!

Congrats to the Panthers! COACH L...YOU DID YOUR HOMEWORK!

Just another arguement for having a BALANCED offense, AC. Hope we haven't went from one extreme (running) to another (passing).

AC's defense was tired at the end of first half. Coach M. Price.......4-6!!!!!!!!!!!!!
