Another great regular season and another short post-season........

Where you at radio? I don't hear those cats growling now. Yea the field was right and so were the bulldogs. GOOOOOOOOOOOD Game Panthers, but the dogs proved to be the better team tonight on a level playing field. Now, as the radio announcer said " Now the Panthers can go play basketball." God Bless you and your team, good group of boys.

You guys crack me up. Have you not looked at the opponents that GP has played this year. 3 5A schools, 1 Div. II-AA school, and 1 3A school. They have had a brutal schedule only lost one game and have put up 39 points a game this season. But yeah they are a less than average GP team. The only thing that is not stronger this year from the last two years for GP is their defense which is giving up 23 pts. a game, which is high for them. However they don't worry about that cause their offense is so potent.

 

Lewis Co. nor Hickman Co. have played near the schedule GP has and if they had they wouldn't be in the position GP is in. Go ahead and think you guys will stick it to the privates but its not going to happen. You wanna know why the privates are so much better than the publics? It is their schedule. GP and CPA both played brutal schedules and that prepares them for the postseason, while Lewis, Hickman, and the rest of the publics play rural 1A schools for their out of region games.

Your wrong sir, I don't know who Lewis played altogether, but we played Marshall county 1st game and won, we also played Lawrence county. If you speak, atleast know what your talking about.

i would be asshamed to post that our team got beat by a chain gang or a mud hole .

Admit it, we stayed up all night pouring water on the field just to slow down the Bulldogs.

 

Oh yea, fon't forget we paid the refs to make bad calls all night to get everyone's mind off the wetness of the field.

 

We also told Greve to strain his hamstring so he could run a little slower.

 

Don't forget, we had to force Jake T. with his life to get him to fumble close enough for them to score.

papa its playoff times...regular season is over, no point in talking about past games because none of them matter now, the slate is clean for all teams and waverly is no longer any importance at all....this game is between hickman co and stewart co so please keep it on that, im just tryin to keep ppl lookin down on us any worse than they are, i know your just tryin to have fun but come on please...start on the basketball boards or something cuz thats the next focus for us

tiger your way off. Waverly only got 1 first down from a penalty against us, until early in the 3rd quarter when 2nd offense and second defense went into the game. I know this because my twins play on the 2nd o and 2nd d. And if we would not have had a ref with a flag he couldn't keep in his pocket every time he seen a hold 30 yds up the field from the action, the 2nd string would have been in after the first quarter. No offense to your team meant, but be real. We had 2 tds maybe 3 called back for holds in the 1st quarter and the holds, if they did exist, were not even close to the action.

this will be a close game...iv seen both teams play, not that they had to play hard against waverly but they played...sc had the early scoring but hc looked to be the team that could finish..im goina pick hickman county to win this one but barely...this game could easily go either way, as hard as this is to say for me i would like to see stewart co rep our region and win but its goina be a tough game...good luck to both teams and congrats on the season ya'l have had, keep it close and injury free guys, one of you have to keep playing after this week

We have a great team and an excellent set of Coaches, but make no mistake anything can happen. If our boys at HC plan on making it to the big dance we are going to have to start hitting like we did against Marshall county at the first of the year. I helped the chain crew in that game and I felt sorry for thier players. Our boy were laying licks that would take an average player out for a few plays and they did it the whole game. I have not seen them play with that intensively as a collective unit since that night. They are a well rounded team and yes we have a passing game when we need it. We have had a little trouble with covering the pass, that is true. But now it is playoff time for all teams that are in it. It is time to step up and show all you got in every game. If HC boys want this bad enough, then watch out cause they are hard to beat.

Lewis County lost to another State Champion in the 3rd round in 2003. Huntingdon 35 - 6.

I would like to see Lewis play Hickman again at a neutral location.

I don't have the answer to this question, but if the players zoned for East had of played for East this year how big of a difference do you think it would have made? Just curious.

Both teams would have won a couple, however I don't think it would have helped either team be a dominant force in the playoffs. I doubt both teams would have even made the playoffs. I think it is good for the county to have a school out of the county to go into the playoffs. I wanted my boys to stay with the coach they had been with for the last 2 yrs. This is only my opinion.

Im not dreaming!!!! You know as well as I do that any given highschool team can win on any night!!!! Highschool is so unpredictable!!! Of course Hickman has the better record and the far better team but anything can happen, and Im pullin for East so what do you expect me to say???? To you expect me to give up on East and say that Hickman is gonna crush them, cuz im not gonna give in!!! I dont care how good Hickman is!!!! Im not gonna quit rootingfor East!!! got it!!!!

Congrats to the East team, they played with a lot of heart. If Coach will keep up the discipline with these boys he will do well within the next couple yrs. Roll on Bulldogs.

We are all Hickman County residents and I'll be pulling for you guys. I hope you are pulling for us on our trip to the big Hohenwald this week as well.

That was an intelectual observation and very true. That is exactly how the winner will be determined.

You my friend are an absolute idiot.HC will never(has never by there record against LC for the past 19 years)hold a candle to LC,especially not their defense.LCs defense will make HC lay down friday night, i can promise you that. Theyve done it for 19 years, why stop now.

I sincerely hope the whole team has that overconfidence. Lewis County has a good program and great coach, but make no mistake, don't under-estimate this HC team. If they do, they'll be very very disappointed friday night.

I agree that Lewis County's D-Line will have to play good. Watch for #25 ...he is a machine...he is the best defensive end in Lewis County since Hull. I predict he will have a big game. I also predict the running backs for Hickman will have nightmares about him for a long time. If Lewis plays to their capability, it won't be much of a game.

That's funny. Nightmares. That may turn out to be the other way around.

The only bashing threads I have seen on here are of East getting bashed,does it feel good to kick a team when they are down like that? I dont see anybody talking about the Centerville/East game but you. I am looking forward to it to meet the one that called us Idiots. And to hear you guys talk all week about your defense, I can't believe little ole Harpeth put 350 yards and 27 points up on you. I'll admit, you guys run the Veer about as good as I've seen it run and your offense is everything advertised. Your Achille's Heel in my opinion is your defense. Better outscore 'em.

 

DearoldDad, I don't remember mentioning Huntingdon or Lewis County for that matter, who both have a huge fan following and great football tradition. Rural 2A football in a closed zone at it's finest. I wish Harpeth's athletes would come out for football in greater numbers. We had 6 baseball players and 2 boys basketball players sign college scholarships last year. Went to state in baseball 2 years in a row and to the regions in basketball. Don't recall seeing you guys there. Some of those guys would probably have made fine football players as well. That sort of thing will come with success as will the fan following the Indians on the road.

 

Good luck to you all the rest of the season. I'd pay to see the Lewis County game. It'll probably be a barnburner.

You speak correctly in your observation. We had the worst game we've had defensively(my opinion). I am not giving you any excuses, so please don't take it that way harpeth played well. One of our defensive powerhouses had some trouble physically the day of the game and was not able to play. It seemed that hurt more than I thought, perhaps the other boys didn't realize how much he was helping and didn't pick up where they needed. If that is the worst we play the rest of the season we will be fine. But, a win is a win,right?

the parents never made there children decide where they wanted to go they made that choice on there own i don`t understand why there is so much hate in this countywe should be cheering each other on and when it does come down to game day we should play to win the game the east and centerville game isn`t untill the ninth week both teams have games to worry about before that like the games their about to play east needs to worry about beating richland this week and centerville needs to worry about harpethboth teams have a good chance to win this week good luck to both

Some might take issue with a parent that chose a school based on athletics period. Looks like they'd have been better off to draw a boundary and made everybody go to the school they're zoned for. Nobody's an idiot then. They're all going where they're zoned to go and you don't have to be 'blessed' to go to one school over the other.

 

Just a thought.

 

As a Columbia grad, I never knew we had a rivalry with Spring Hill. Must be a Saturn thang. They were 1A forever and Central was always 3A. The closest thing we had to a blood rival was Mt. Pleasant in basketball. In football, the out of region rivalry was with Franklin and inside the region there really wasn't one. Tullahoma, Shelbyville, Lawrence County, Coffee County, Franklin County and Lincoln County were all pretty much equal. To me, my old school didn't have anything like the rivalries my kids school has in Cheatham County where all 3 schools are close to the same size and they start playing against each other in football at kindergarten age.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. There were several kids that had very good oportunities and Colleges looking at them at HCHS and they are Jrs and Srs. They were given a choice to stay at HC high or go to East. There were certain people that chose to send their JRs and SRs to East due to a hate for the HCHS community for whatever reason. I simply meant to say, it isn't and wouldn't be in a child's best interest to put them at East with such an opportunity to be on top the last 1 or 2 yrs of their High School Yr. I made a blanket statement and I didn't mean all parents were idiots, I guess I assumed the guilty parties knew what I was speaking of. I repeat, I did not mean to imply all East parents were idiots by any means. However, I never would speak of a childs name on here in a negative way. I hope this clears that up. And the Rivalry I speak of in Spring Hill and Columbia was a very respected on and brought a lot of revenue into the school that hosted the game, it was friendly.

I did not insinuate that all parents that allowed their children go to East were idiots. There are other issues,such as money and travel expense involved with some going to HC. I understand some had no choice financially and I am just blessed to be able to make it happen for my children. I did say if a parent pushed their children to the East school because of a rivalry, they were idiots. I have also numerous times complimented the athletic ability of the 9th and 10th graders at East and they are very good children and ball players. My youngest son played for EMS for 2 yrs and I like to see them do well. But, You have taken it in a bad direction talking smack about my boys, and I consider that as low as you can get. I'll not feud with you anymore, just hide behind the screen you will be alright. Thanks cheerdawg for standing up for my boys.

I am taking Hickman to win. They are a very good football team. In fact, that's why I picked them to win the region earlier this year.

 

I look for Harpeth to def. bounce back in the following weeks against FRA & East Hickman though folks.

 

The Indians games with Lewis Co., Fairview, & Richland will be HUGE!!!! If they can win 2/3 of those games then they will go to the playoffs NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!!!

I hope HC does what they know how to do and are ready to play. If they are, I believe we'll come out on top.
