The spring session for the Chattanooga Wrestling Club will start Monday, March 5th at 6:00 p.m. We are very excited to get this session going!! We have a great addition to the staff this year in University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Assistant Coach, Patrick Bond. Coach Bond had a very successful high school career at national power, Great Bridge High School in Virginia, as well as, an outstanding collegiate career at the University of Illinois. Patrick is doing a tremendous job this year with the Mocs and we look forward to what he offers the Chattanooga Wrestling Club this spring. Once again, this is going to be a great opportunity for you to take your wrestling to the next level. Over the past three years, we have helped produce multiple state champions and placewinners in Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. Hatcher has 10 years of Head Coaching experience and 5 years of club Head Coaching experience. He is the current State Chairman of the Tennessee Wrestling Federation, Tennessee’s affiliate of USA Wrestling, the National Governing Body of amateur wrestling. Coach Hatcher was a member of four National Championship teams at the University of Iowa. Coach Hatcher spent 5 years training and wrestling for the legendary Coach Dan Gable. PATRICK BOND - ASSISTANT COACH Coach Bond is the current Assistant Coach at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. A native of Chesapeake, Va., Bond was a four-time Virginia state champ in high school and a two-time Junior National champion. Bond competed collegiately at the University of Illinois where he was a four-time NCAA qualifier, and placed fifth or higher at the Big 10 conference championships all four years. Bond was also ranked in the top-20 in the nation throughout his time with the Fighting Illini. This group will gear their training towards local, regional, and national competitions. On two days of the week, you’re “club coach†will come to your school, at your agreed time, and put your team through training, drilling, technique, whatever you wish. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, you’re athletes will have full access to the CWC practice at UTC. These practices gather the very best wrestlers from the greater Chattanooga area. With the new Team Training Program, you will not only expose your kids to the best training partners in the area but you will also have your own “club coach†to zero in on your team’s specific needs. The Chattanooga Wrestling Club will be hosting another pre-season tournament this Saturday, October 22 at the Soddy Daisy Wrestling Arena. This tournament will be ran exactly the same as the one on the 8th. There will be satellite weigh-ins for all participants, all registration will be done on Trackwrestling, and wrestling will start at 9 am promptly. The Chattanooga Wrestling Club will be hosting a pre-season tournament on October 8th at the Soddy Daisy Wrestling Arena. These tournament will be very valuable in providing matches for those gearing up for the Super 32 Tournament and their high school seasons. All weigh-ins will be done on Friday by satellite. This will allow the tournament to start right at 9 without everyone having to get up crazy early for weigh-ins. In the past, everyone has gotten their three matches in by about noon to 1:00. The fall session of the Chattanooga Wrestling Club will start on Monday, September 12 at 6:00 p.m. and will continue every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday until October 29. The fall session has been very popular the last two years and has attracted a lot of the best kids from the greater Chattanooga, north Georgia, and Alabama areas. For the second year in a row, the Tennessee Wrestling Federation is sending a team to all three USA National Dual tournaments next month. The Schoolboy competition is June 8-12 in Indianapolis, IN, the Cadet competition is June 14-18 in Daytona Beach, FL, and the Junior competition is June 23-27 in Oklahoma City, OK. These are excellent tournaments and a great opportunity for a ton of quality matches. The competitions will be USA age groups and weights. Hello everyone, I hope your season is going well up to this point. Go to www.tennwrestling.com for info on next weekend's Tennessee Pride Ironman Tournament, being held at David Lipscomb High School in Nashville. The weigh-ins will take place on the day of the tournament from 7-8 am central time, with wrestling starting at 9. This is a very important tournament for a number of reasons, and one that I hope all of you will greatly support. For one, this tournament is marking the bonding of the TWF and AAU organizations in the state of Tennessee. Both organizations feel that this relationship will help grow and strengthen wrestling in our state. Both national organizations have made insurance accommodations for every athlete, to be allowed to compete in all 3 styles for the price of $25! Also, World Champion, Les Gutches will be in attendance for a FREE clinic to kick-off the event! The best part though, is this. ALL of the proceeds from the tournament will be donated back to our Tennessee collegiate wrestling programs! The student-athletes from UTC, MTSU, King College, and UT will be providing all workers in exchange for the donation. The only organizations that are profiting from this event are those that provide scholarship money to your athletes! The registration has not been set up yet but should be in the next day or so. This is a great opportunity for your kids to get extra matches to prepare them for next season. The Chattanooga Wrestling Club began it's spring session last week with a tremendous turnout! Over 70 kids, of all ages, filled the UTC wrestling room each night with the intensity and competition running high! The goal of the Chattanooga Wrestling Club is to provide a neutral training site for the wrestlers of the greater Chattanooga area, who are looking to get to the next level. In the past year, this concept has helped produce 15 High School State Champions, another 19 High School State Placers, as well as, over 20 more state qualifiers from Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. This club concept has also helped produce Dixie and Liberty National Champions and All-Americans, as well as, a large number of Youth and Middle School State Champions in the past year. There is no question that this is the ideal site for the wrestler seeking supplemental off-season training! CWC will also offer organized trip packages to a variety of local and out of state competitions, including NHSCA Nationals, Central Regionals, and Southeast Regionals.
