    Surprises

Well luckily I got a chance to go and I was certainly not disappointed. There was much in the air once the brackets were made. Everyone was talking about a Hendersonville/Hardin County match up on the girls side and I think everyone was waiting for the boys match up of White Station and Smyrna. Alot of people felt that the winner of that one would move on to the finals. My hats off to Wilson Central...WAY TO GO! Having both teams in the finals is a great accomplishment. To me it just seemed like whoever made their spares moved on. I have to say Congrats to Jerrica Strickland from Hardin County for her 287 against a pesky bunch of girls from White Station. I did notice however that there was no drama this year...wonder why?...Everyone showed great sportsmanship and I would like to say congratulations to all the winners this year...now time to start thinking about next year..huh?
  2. I am happy to see that there are actually intelligent coaches like you guys...This sounds like a great idea...can you all put it together in a proposal and present it to TSSAA? Just talking with some of the coaches in my area they would be willing to sign it I still believe that each bowler needs to have the minimum 2/3 games. So how it sounds right now is that every bowler who wants to bowl in the individual sectionals would pay the $12 and bowl 4 games, so then how do you decide who goes to the next round at Smyrna? It does seem that you would have to have district before christmas. well i hope you guys work it out...sounds like something great to see on the horizon
  3. I agree with your assessments except for White Station..they may have SOME talent and a good coach but in my opinion they don't seem to have the discipline needed to go deep in the tourney...i mean look what happened to them in the tourney last year...and the girls last year had a chance against Hardin but couldn't close the deal...I just feel the team that has the heart and is disciplined enough when it gets close will have the best chance of winning this year...didn't White Station lose two really good bowlers on the boys side...unless they have reloaded i don't see them getting past the first round even if they make it. You are exactly right about Hendersonville...both teams have a GREAT shot at making the tourney...my nephews team bowled against them twice this year and he said the boys are really good and told me the girls actually scored better then the boys so watch out state! With Smyrna shooting that 4,000 I think they put a scare in everyone...it is amazing that the State trophy might not leave Middle TN again this year.
  4. I am a fan and have tried with my busy schedule to keep up with things on here...Who are the front runners on both the girls and boys sides?...I am guessing that Smyrna and Soddy Daisy control their own destiny...is that true? What about Columbia Central? On the girls side is it Hendersonville and Hardin County again? If anyone has a clue please respond...I can't wait to go and see all of you guys at STATE...good luck to everyone and I wish all of you a Happy New Year!
  5. As I keep my ear close to the action I have heard that Hendersonville has some really good girls and also Hardin County..not sure about their names though...on the boys side I guess we just look on this site and see who they are mentioning...don't they pick like one representative from the west, middle, and east? If so, what about that Gary Faulkner kid from memphis...from the middle it's a toss up between brandon and johnny...and from the east wouldn't you agree it would be matt lyon? just a side note here...my sources tell me don't worry about White Station...they are struggling

It certainly looks like Smyrna can start "tuning up the band"...NO ONE is shooting 4,000...not even Soddy...and I guarantee you any team from the west won't be able to stay up with that pace...not even White Station. So I am now placing my vote for Smyrna --- 2009 State Champions! I still am not sure how all this works though...I still love seeing all of the young people bowl...good luck to all as this season begins to wind down.
  8. I am glad you responded...How is the team doing?...I can only wish you and all the bowlers out there the best! My grandson bowls...he is 7...and he loves it, that is why I have become a fan...I am associated with others that have strong ties to the bowling community in my area and have traveled with teams to the state tournament before...you did not recognize me because I was usually just hanging around the coaches wives and friends while they spoke with you...Furthermore for any team/coach to win a state title I believe there has to be three main ingredients, great coaches, great talent, and discipline. Good luck to you all throughout the year! Before I leave this post...has anyone got any other good scores out there? I just love hearing about the children's successes! Thanks!
  9. I agree...I only speak from seeing his accomplishments over the years and meeting with him a couple of times...you are right if you are the center manager you certainly have an advantage over other coaches who don' have that luxury and just have to take what comes in the door. I guess we will have to see what comes down the line...It seems as though Smyrna is the team to beat though...is that true? I can't think of anyone else out there that could be as strong as them!
  10. you make some good points...however, Coach Ransom is a great coach...i am just a fan and wondering what was going on out there in the great state of tennessee in bowling, and so you mention Spring Hill and Marshall County...do they have some good players? if so, who? I would love to hear about them. Thanks!

i think the first match was at smyrna...is the next one somewhere else? I am just a fan and love to keep hearing about all the teams out there...hasn't everyone started bowling? are there any other teams out there posting numbers? anyone still undefeated? it seems as though last year there were alot more posts then this...

I dont know of any other teams out there able to shoot 3900's...so maybe this is the year again for smyrna...I mean from what I hear all the teams from last years state tournament lost at least two great players...so i just wonder who else may have reloaded...anyone know the word on columbia? Hardin County? I see another post on here talking about this kid from White Station...i dont think a one man show is going to get it done...dont think they have much else...do they? good luck to all!

Are there any other scores? How did smyrna shoot 3935? It looks like the other 3 bowlers for smyrna shot on average 621 each. Is that right? If so, it looks like they got 6 strong this year. Is smyrna the next Columbia? Is everyone else playing for second? Great bowling to both teams!
  14. I am just a fan of bowling and have become very interested in high school bowling and how the kids are doing. I have been watching the blogs this year because another coach said that there was some interesting information on here. While i have caught some of the discussions about coverstock, which ball to use, etc. I have also been keeping up with how you kids have been bowling. So far I see that most of you believe Brandon Barnes is the one to beat, that Smyrna is to win the state championship this year, and that there has been some upheaval with the teams from east tn. Is there anyone else out there who has some good things going? Any other bowlers that could give Brandon a run for his money? What other teams are to be considered? I hope you all have a great year!
