  1. Red Bank would be a sweet job.  With all the new construction, lots of athletes, and the yuppies in North Chattanooga adopting RB for "their" high school.  Red Bank will be restored to the glory days within 5 years.

Down side is that it is under the Hamilton County Department of Education.

Totally agree with you. Hopefully they can get someone who can come in who has the mentality to coach a scheme geared to the players he has and not "live or die" with sticking to his plan.
  2. You guys forgot about Ray Fowler, Marion Co., 82-84. Went to 2 state finals. Believe he went on to Navy. I coached on that staff, and let me tell you he was a good one, read the option in the split-back veer, did a heck of a job.

Fowler was a good one, however, he was not the QB for one of those title games in the 80's. He was a freshman and Dewayne Walters was the QB. Ray was QB in the '84 game against Marshall Co.

  3. I would totally agree that the class of 2013 are special kids! This football team has great senior leadership this year, with several of the Seniors being in the top 20% of the class, but these boys feel like they do not matter. Let them be leaders, listen to what they have to say, and put some trust in them! A comment like "you are not gonna be here next year" does nothing to help fix any problems on and off the field. You cannot blame it all on the kids. Sure there have been missed blocks, interceptions thrown, bad snaps, some fumbles and holes in the defense, but let's face it, there have been some crazy coaching decisions made in the last few games............Walker Valley was given the ball on there side of the field twice in that game that resulted in them scoring, just because the coaches chose not to punt. Punting the ball only 20 yards would have been better than just turning it over. In the Hixson game if you are up by almost 3 TD's with 7 mins.+ left to go, why do you not run the ball and run as much time off the clock as possible? So yes, the players need to take the blame but the coaches need to own up to their part as well. Keep your head up Lions and to the Class of 2013 you are special young men who put the team first! YOu guys are Red Bank Football and you understand TRADITION!

    Right on !!!!

Mandi Munn is Red Bank's top asst coach.

Great Tourney. Red Bank made a good run. Congrats Lionettes. I believe they return next year with a better team.

  5. Hardly. The play-calling may have been at a stalemate. ER would have eventually wore down and broke, regardless of who was at QB. #2 needs to have the ball handed, pitched, or thrown to him. His "play-making" ability as you call it will get RB beat. If the Hixson kid who picked #2 towards the end of the game last week hadn't stepped out, then we would be hearing new excuses as to why he in at QB.

  6. If Cleveland puts pressure on the extremely undisciplined Red Bank QB(#2), then they can shut down the Lion's offense. The Red Bank coaches continue to go with an unorganized offense with a QB who has happy feet and will take off at the drop of a hat. Open receivers all over the field, but he is too undisciplined to hang in the pocket to find them. They have a true passer on the sidelines, but won't use him. He was only "Player of the Week" against Soddy, yet the staff constantly goes with the little guy.

I would say this one will come down to coaching, but I guess I should say that this one will come down to players overcoming coaching.

  7. This a great job waiting for someone. They have a brand new practice field and a very good core group of athletes. As far as the coaching situation, Coach Barger left to return to Lake Co. so he and his wife could be at the same school and she could have an opportunity to be a head coach. His leaving had nothing to do with Central and it worked out for them (Coach B took the football team at Lake Co. to the Quarterfinals this year and his wife has the boy's basketball team in the state tournament). Montgomery left due to family reasons and other issues so it was not a Central issue. The program has made back to back playoff appearances and has a really supportive principal and AD so this to me is one of the better jobs in Hamilton Co. right now.

No doubt that there's a good bunch of athletes at Central. Somebody could do special things at Central right now. Great opportunity for the taking !!!

  8. Congrats on your new hire....I am a Red Bank parent/fan/alumni and it was a sad day when we learned that we were losing Coach Cobble because everyone here assumed that he was pretty much the coach-in wating for when our head coach retires. Cobble has been with Coach Daniels for the last 13 years and has had a great mentor that teaches discipline amongst his players and is a man of morals and ethics, I believe Cobble will be the same as head coach. All the players loved and respected Cobble as a Coach and man and he earned that respect.

It sounds like you all have alot issues up there but I don't believe that he will let that destract him from his responsiblities as a coach and will do whats right for the kids and the school. I think time will show that he will make a very good head coach. I believe your administration hired the right man for the job but I do wish we still had him for next year.

    good luck.

A mentor that teaches discipline. Hardly. Red Bank has had many issues with discipline in recent years. Many of which have been swept under the locker room door. Cobble probably left because of the lack of discipline. Kenny seems to be a good guy though. Goodluck to him and JC.

  9. I believe randy kirkpatrick was that qb in 84. anyway. The best game ive ever seen and ill need a little help it was in the 90's and i believe it was cloudland. They had a bluechip QB with the best arm ive ever seen. he threw it on the run for 65 yards against us and lit us up for a unexpected 35 points in the first half. The begining play of the 3rd i believe we broke his arm and we came back to win a 36-35 barn burner. if he stayed in the game they would have killed us

Jimmy Layne was your QB for the 1984 season.

  10. I attended the last couple of Red Bank games and I have made an observation. #7 is your quaterback. I believe the PA guy said he is a sophomore. This young man came into the game for one series early in the game, but things didn't look good. The play calling in that series was still geared towards the "starter" and his style of unorganized, scramble like mad offense.

#7 came into the game late when RB needed a spark. The coaches finally called plays better suited for him and the results were evident. He showed tremendous maturity and poise while driving RB to a much needed score. He stayed in the pocket, stepped up when pressured, while remaining focused down field on his receivers. He delivered strikes and moved his offense down for a score. When he ran the ball, he pushed defenders backwards instead of trying to "juke and jive" every defender.

The offensive players seemed to have more energy and seemed excited about the change. This shows leadership from #7. This young man could be one of the best RB quarterbacks if given the chance. He is a prototypical QB with the size and arm strength to compete at the next level after high school.

If RB's coaches can't see this, then they may need to go back to a few more clinics and learn some FB. THIS YOUNG MAN CAN LEAD YOUR TEAM !!!

Not sure I'll be at another RB game this year, but just wanted to give some insight from and Old Coach who loves the game. Headed to see South Pittsburg/Signal Mtn next week, then down to Hoover, Alabama the next.

Good luck RB and hope to see you if you make playoffs.

  11. Oh my goodness! What we have here boys is a little failure on the purples part in dealing with unrealistic expectations. What in the tarnation are you jaspers a thankin? Got Ol' PirateHowies blood plumb boiling and face redder than Coach Dave Baxters use to get right before kickoff time. Fear the veer? Coach Vic oughta go ol' school on um and run that fifty/fifty defense and break out in the single wing as tribute to us old school boys. The Pirates could run the 46 or 48 allnight and score at will before "Brokeneck" could figure that a catergory five hurricane justa hit em.' Better yet, lets bring the boys off the field after the first quarter and play a pirates vs. warriors alumni fundraising game. That's a better ticket. Anyway, another little ol' tune-up game so the junior varsity(7th&8th) can play and get a letter too. Final Score: CastIron CornBreads 60 and Jaspers 0. P.S. "Uncle Harvey, start thawing out the hamburger meat."------HowiePirate(Class of 85')
