  1. Just saying that whoever gets this job will not be inheriting a ton of athletes in the skill positions. They will have to be able to evaluate players ability well, and coach to that.
  2. Totally agree with you. Hopefully they can get someone who can come in who has the mentality to coach a scheme geared to the players he has and not "live or die" with sticking to his plan.
  3. May be time to stop passing around the same old tired coaches in the area.
  4. Slaughter leaving RB for Heritage in Ga. Who will apply? Got some major rebuilding to do. Someone will need the ability to get kids to buy in to the program again.
  5. MC played for the state in 1982 and 1984 also. Those teams were full of hard-working, blue collar guys who liked to hit.
  6. Fowler was a good one, however, he was not the QB for one of those title games in the 80's. He was a freshman and Dewayne Walters was the QB. Ray was QB in the '84 game against Marshall Co.
  7. There are some guys that deserve honorable mention whom I remember watching when I was in elementary school. They may be overlooked because they weren't on great teams, but these guys ran HARD !!! Chuck Steele, Buddy Higdon, Ed Cobb
  8. Hardly. The play-calling may have been at a stalemate. ER would have eventually wore down and broke, regardless of who was at QB. #2 needs to have the ball handed, pitched, or thrown to him. His "play-making" ability as you call it will get RB beat. If the Hixson kid who picked #2 towards the end of the game last week hadn't stepped out, then we would be hearing new excuses as to why he in at QB.
  9. If Cleveland puts pressure on the extremely undisciplined Red Bank QB(#2), then they can shut down the Lion's offense. The Red Bank coaches continue to go with an unorganized offense with a QB who has happy feet and will take off at the drop of a hat. Open receivers all over the field, but he is too undisciplined to hang in the pocket to find them. They have a true passer on the sidelines, but won't use him. He was only "Player of the Week" against Soddy, yet the staff constantly goes with the little guy. I would say this one will come down to coaching, but I guess I should say that this one will come down to players overcoming coaching.
  10. Red Bank downs East Ridge last night in 3. Way to go ladies !!!
  11. Congrats to Red Bank for their win over Hixson last night.
  12. BTW.... Red Bank had a big week. Beat GPS and Baylor this week ! Congrats Lady Lions !
  13. Did he actually call those kids "retarded"? Wow!
  14. No doubt that there's a good bunch of athletes at Central. Somebody could do special things at Central right now. Great opportunity for the taking !!!
  15. A mentor that teaches discipline. Hardly. Red Bank has had many issues with discipline in recent years. Many of which have been swept under the locker room door. Cobble probably left because of the lack of discipline. Kenny seems to be a good guy though. Goodluck to him and JC.
  16. Jimmy Layne was your QB for the 1984 season.
  17. I attended the last couple of Red Bank games and I have made an observation. #7 is your quaterback. I believe the PA guy said he is a sophomore. This young man came into the game for one series early in the game, but things didn't look good. The play calling in that series was still geared towards the "starter" and his style of unorganized, scramble like mad offense. #7 came into the game late when RB needed a spark. The coaches finally called plays better suited for him and the results were evident. He showed tremendous maturity and poise while driving RB to a much needed score. He stayed in the pocket, stepped up when pressured, while remaining focused down field on his receivers. He delivered strikes and moved his offense down for a score. When he ran the ball, he pushed defenders backwards instead of trying to "juke and jive" every defender. The offensive players seemed to have more energy and seemed excited about the change. This shows leadership from #7. This young man could be one of the best RB quarterbacks if given the chance. He is a prototypical QB with the size and arm strength to compete at the next level after high school. If RB's coaches can't see this, then they may need to go back to a few more clinics and learn some FB. THIS YOUNG MAN CAN LEAD YOUR TEAM !!! Not sure I'll be at another RB game this year, but just wanted to give some insight from and Old Coach who loves the game. Headed to see South Pittsburg/Signal Mtn next week, then down to Hoover, Alabama the next. Good luck RB and hope to see you if you make playoffs.
  18. The sad think about your "Old School" comment is this: If you graduated in 1985 from SP, then you never beat MC.
  19. Who cares !!! Let's just play some football !!!
  20. Thought Red Bank Would win. Certainly was wrong. Congrats Greeneville on showing alot of heart and determination. Hard fought game from both sides, but Greeneville's work ethic showed. Great job on getting down and dirty in the trenches and getting the "ugly" yards up the gut. #11 is one tough kid. O-line was blowing RB's d-line off the ball in the 4th qtr. I'm a RB fan that will gladly say CONGRATS Greeneville !!! Your guys looked like they were on a mission, and they won with class. Goodluck the rest of the way.
