Can't say Hendersonville played extremely disciplined either though. All that scrambling by Davis led to the Hville secondary getting a lot of holding and pass interference calls. Pretty sloppy game penalty wise by both teams I thought.
I agree on the strategy though. Although Hville didn't get many sacks, they still got a ton of pressure and had good containment to keep Antioch's O off balance in the second half.
-
Antioch takes a POUNDING from Hendersonville, 42-21.
It was close untill the half, then Hville just starts turning it on. Whoever said that Hville couldn't contain Davis from Antioch.....you were right ha. But Hendersonville just kept their composure all night even when it looked bad, played as a team, and got a huge region win. Next up is the Bobcats of Overton, let's get another win boys.
-
I have not seen either, only based what I said on the players that they return is all. I mean, there of course could be stellar players that didn't see any playing time last year I suppose. I guess I'll just sit quietly by myself and root for my beloved Commandos to bring the region championship back home ha.

Gallatin will win, but it won't be by as much as some of you are saying. Overton always matches up well with Gallatin, but I think Gallatin has too much talent to lose this one.
-
I'm not playing dumb here, I really don't see Gallatin or Hunter's Lane as being better than Hendersonville this year.
-
The McGavock loss to Hendersonville was big. The Antioch/ McGavock matchup will probably determine the final playoff spot. But I am still not sold on the team speed of Hendersonville. With the Hillwood win getting thrown out, H'ville really needs to beat Antioch this week. If not they have to pull a huge upset against HL or Gallatin.
I don't really see why a Hville win over Gallatin or Hunter's Lane would be considered an upset.
And there is no reason to be sold on any team speed from Hville, they are MUCH faster than years past, but most teams probably still have the edge in speed. I tell you this now though, the athleticism factor for Hendersonville is the best i have seen in several years. Should be a good game vs the Bears on Friday.
-
It'll either be Hendersonville, Gallatin, or Hunter's Lane who wins the region.
I honestly think the Hendersonville/Gallatin game will be for the championship.

I have never seen why this is so dang hard for people to understand. Think of the states with the best high school football (Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania for example), these states have a MUCH LARGER POPULATION than Tennessee. I mean all those states have over 10 million people in them, Tennessee has 6 million. The more people you have, the more naturally gifted athletes you will have, therefore some teams will just be blessed with a ton of great football players. Most these states have a 6A division, which Tennessee is getting, but just think how big those schools must be. I still don't believe that one team could possibly have 20 D1 players though.

what really stinks for hendersonville is that the kid played 2 plays against dickson county and 1 against hillwood and hillwood scored on that play
I completely agree, it stinks that because a kid plays in two blowout games, it will cost Hendersonville 2 wins. But I mean, if the kid was ineligible, then he is ineligible. I said last year that it was lame when Hunter's Lane got their wins back after that whole fiasco, and I don't expect Hendersonville to get any wins back this season. But here's the deal Commandos, just win the rest of your games and you don't have to worry about those forfeits.
-
So Hillwood is 0-2 in the region, and Hendersonville is 1-0? Am I understanding this correctly?
Well, all Hendersonville has to do now is win out the the rest of the season probably if they want the region championship. Glad they caught this early on though.
-
Apparently Hville will have to give up the wins, but they won't count as losses???
I don't really see how that could work, but that is what I've been told at least. Also, Coach Hatfield is planning to appeal this just as Hunter's Lane did at the end of last year because this student was told that he would be eligible at the beginning of the season.
This would really hurt if they do go through though, especially with that Hillwood game being a region game.

Very interested to see how this one plays out.
My gut feeling says Gallatin, unfortunately. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Hunter's Lane easily

I wasn't saying anything about Gallatin bragging on themselves. Just saying that beating those two teams tells you absolutely nothing about how good of a team you have. They are guaranteed wins.
-
Two things that should never be blown out of context:
1. Beating Hillwood
2. Beating Glencliff

Ii'm interested in seeing how the Green Wave fairs against Smyrna though.

McGavock is improving it seems.

Must be a liberal? lol, and you must be a moron.
I'm also smart enough to know that this message board is about high school football, not what happened 7 years ago in American history : D.
Some things are bigger than high school football and we should take ANY opportunity we get to pay some respect to those people who went through and still are going through what happened on 9/11, man. It didn't hurt you any having this topic up here, yet you had to come in and say that, how pointless.

if spencer armstrong is returning this game, it will give a HUGE boost to the Commando running game, not sure if DC can handle that and Hville's passing game
HHS wins this one
-
Overton with the easy win.

I'm just messing with you hville. We had a good debate over the summer. I can take a little ribbing. This is an interesting matchup. Hville has been Jeckle and Hyde in its first two games. McGavock soundly beat a 2A Power that beat a team that beat a team. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> The questions that remain to be answered are as follows:
1. Which Hendersonville team will show up?
2. Is McGavock really that for real?
3. How much will weather affect this weekends games?
Best of Luck to both squads.....I don't have a dog in this fight.
If it is raining this weekend, that could really hurt Hville and their new spread offense. But I mean, they do still have the Wing-T plays if they want to ever run the ball. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I don't really know McGavock's offensive philosophy this year, if I'm not mistaken they normally run the ball a good chunk more than they pass. Don't they return their QB?

Back to Back rivalry games.......oh my. A 5A team shouldn't be whining about rivalry games with a 3A and 4A team. McG beat a 2A team. All of that means nothing in this one. What is it that hvfootball has said all summer long????? The Metro teams don't have heart. They have the better talent but no heart. Hville's coaching can beat speed. It's put up or shut up time hvillfootball.
I'm not going to get into a stupid little fight on CoachT with you bigreid. I don't like to come in and ruin whole threads with individual personal fights, so talk junk all you want brother. We can always talk crap after the game if you still show up that is.
But for now, does anyone have any insight on the actual game? Matchups? Players to watch? Gameplans?
-
Gallatin by 28 at least.
-
yeah you are right gues my knowledge with 15 years as o coord for powerhose catholic team in illinois i really dont know that much and with all your years of playing and coaching pee wee ball you know it all...lack of intensity wow you rival and coach couldnt get his team up for the game or even the players couldnt get excited is that what you are telling me then?tell me since no speed was involved how come you state poor tackling by the LB's (this usually means that d- line was getting manhandled - speed does consist of HOW beech got off the ball, the pulling of the lineman, etc is all speed my brother - Team speed on Beech d closed gaps --- Hello speed is not the sole factor of what won the game but played a big big role for Beech////
Speed didn't win that game. Beech won that game because they wanted it more, they came out ready to play, ready to hit, and with a ton of intensity. Hville came out flat plain and simple. It's not easy to play back to back rivalry games, it is draining, surely you agree with that. NOT TAKING ANYTHING AWAY FROM BEECH, they earned that win, no doubt.
Gallatin (6-1, 4-0) VS Hunters Lane (7-0, 4-0)
in Class 5A & Class 6A

Could be for the Region 5-5A crown.....but won't be. No sir, that game will be either the HHS-Gallatin or HHS-HLHS game I do believe.
But this game will certainly be important in deciding who gets #2 in the region. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
