  4. My take on the Science Hill victory over Dobyns Bennett is fairly simple. Science Hill came out of the gate ready to play, Dobyns Bennett started slow, again. Before the Tribe knew what hit them they were down by 9 at the end of the first quarter, 22-13. From there, Science Hill kept Dobyns Bennett at arms length for the remainder of the game, never letting the Indians make a serious push at cutting the deficit. It??™s my opinion that the Indians played with Science Hill for the majority of the game, trading baskets in the middle quarters and deep into the fourth. It was the run Science Hill put together in the first quarter that did the Indians in. Defense was an obvious issue last night for the Tribe, as were missed free throws, and not finishing at the rim in transition. The Tribe did a poor job coming off screens and contesting shots all night. In response, Coach Cutlip ran an isolation offense in the first half that keyed on Halverson??™s inability to aggressively defend. I feel Halverson did a better job defending in the second half, but by then the Hill was in firm control of dictating the pace of the game. In the general, the Indians performance on defense leaves much to be desired. Offensively, the inside game was lacking, perimeter shooting was decent, ball handling was poor, and rebounding was atrocious. I attribute most of this to the ??

  9. I'm no English professor TCSF, but I believe you meant you were interested in his insight. Unless you are really being very clever,tongue-in-cheek,saying incite ,as in to start a riot. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Looks like a pretty good job of smoothing everything over otherwise. Good luck at Topper Palace. Wear something from your summer wardrobe and take lots of bottled water. I bet it's hot and loud over there tonight!

crawdad, you caught a mistake! And a rather indistinct one at that! Touche sir, touche /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />. You are correct, I did mean insight, rather than incite.

I was talking to Easttnboy that he didnt need to apologize. Kinda defensive there huh? So are we now "clarified"?

We understand each other. You mentioned me in your post, thus I responded in turn. Outside of the first few sentences of my response to you, the rest was my opnion. I felt you should hear it, no harm done.

I'll post my thoughts on the Dobyns Bennett @ Science Hill game later tonight, among other things.

  11. I don't think you need too apologize for anything. Everything you said was so true. If Tricitiessportsfan would go back and read this thread there is more dogging of VHS than any other school. And I would bet big money on that. I think your judgement is correct. Its hard to keep an "open mind" when people up the road knock you down soooo often on coacht. Good Luck tonight to all teams especially the Falcons!

A point of clarification, I did not ask easttnboy to apologize...for anything. I didn't use the word apologize at all in my post. Obviously I have read every post on this thread, so much so that I wish I could redeem each viewing for frequent flyer miles and vacation to a warmer climate. I know Volunteer has been slighted more than any other school in the Big 9, you know I know that. My advice to keep an open mind is based on the notion that not all of us from 'up the road' have degraded or made negative comments towards Volunteer, it's coaches, it's players, or it's fans. I, personally, don't speak for or against the Falcons program. If anything I have sympathies for Volunteer as my girlfriend is an alumni of the school and resides in Mt. Carmel. I understand it's hard to keep an open mind when others knock something you support down, consistantly. One closes themselves off, however, when they see any comment or mention of that thing you support as negative. At that point, you are viewing things through stained glass. You have a right to be perturbed with us yokels from 'up the road', but regularly viewing everything we say as an attack (thought it does seem the majority are) takes away from your perspective. I'm interested in your incite, not necessary your ability to defend yourself and Volunteer. In essence, let your guard down a bit, don't argue with those who you can't change their minds, and enjoy the thread. Before you reply, consider my points for a moment. Take it or leave it.

  12. Here's the IMAC schedule for the final days before the district tournament (cause the current schedules on this site are a little off):

Awesome. Thanks for the updates. I'll try to get around to changing dates and adding games sometime in the next day or two. In the meantime, if someone else wants to do it, feel free.

  13. Being a member of the Indian faithful and bleeding maroon and gray, I live for games like this. It doesn't get any better than Dobyns Bennett and Science Hill in upper east Tennessee. I put my maroon on yesterday and won't take it of until late tonight. Maroon all day, can't wait for tipoff.

By the way, I've got a plan for a website pretty well mapped out in my head. It may be a little different than what we've brainstormed on this thread, but I think you'll like it no less. I just need to put pencil to paper, when I find some time, and I will post my plans to the board and have you give me your thoughts.

  14. easttnboy, you just placed a value judgement on everyone that frequents these boards who are not Volunteer supporters, as we all are from 'up the road' in some capacity. I honestly take no offense to it, because, though I am from the dreaded city, I am most definatley not stuck up. Stokomo graduated from Dobyns Bennett in the '80's, playing under the guidance of the great Buck Van Huss. That said, he is also from 'up the road'. Does that change your opinion of him? Suffice it to say, some will share your opinion and some will not, I advice that you not perform character assasination and back yourself into defense mode when it comes to Volunteer, your alma mater. Keep an open mind, though we from 'up the road' are far from perfect, those from your block aren't infallible either. Now, to take a message from Stokomo...thank God for the game and he will bless us with the opportunity to learn from it.

  15. I'm not sure when CMO started but I went all the way back to the 01-02 season and DB has the upper hand with a record of 11-8. The last time Science Hill swept the season series against DB was 01-02. DB sept the Hilltoppers last year (4-0). So if you take out last year's sweep, the Hilltoppers would have the edge, but that's why they play the games. This game will be a "barn burner," especially since they switched it to the Palace /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Guess they wanted a chance at the title instead of the money. GOD Bless and look for my STG article Monday evening.... /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
