Beware of the sleepers through February. The worst feeling in the world is when a team is almost promised a substate birth and a team is 3-24 or worse put you out at district or region. 1984 Bradley should have swept the District and Region. Cleveland, had no shooters or scores on that team, but they had 5 girls that got after every loose ball and beat Bradley to end their run. It is very possible for Bradley to make that run again this year, but the "Basketball Gods" have alot to do with it in the end. It is funny how it is 0-0 when you start the district tournament. You have to start all over trying to prove what you have proved all season. I mean Walker Valley two years ago was suppose to walk into state also, beat Cleveland by almost 60 the first game they played, and then beat Cleveland by 3 the second time , and in District tournament Cleveland beat them and then Bradley ended Walker Valleys run in Region. It is truly the "Basketball Gods". So it will be interesting.

Lets cut through the chase, there is a personal problem when adults have a problem with kids that do what they do on a basketball court. At the end of day, it doesn't matter if you win by 20 pts or 1 pt. a win is a win and a loss is a loss, Both teams can't come in first. If you know anything about basketball , you have to play defense, rebound and score to win. So hopefully everybody has some of those qualities to compete. Most of the girls playing are trying secure a partially or fully paid education at the next level. Good thing none of that is based on what we say on a message board. Okay, the "no shooter" term is overrated, because Cleveland has scorers and by mid-season should gel. Great to hear players will be back for Bradley, should make them stronger. Again, it will be different.

Congrats to bradley on that game, but lets just be honest, all 4 of clevelands starters were suppose to be out of that game . Cleveland the best defensive player in the league Atarah Abdullah Muhammad, out with a fracture wrist. The sharp shooter Nora Berry playing after being released from the hospital , Qetuwrah Abdullah Muhammad, who released right before the game still battling shoulder injury, and Sydnie Anderson has cartliage damage to her knee was highly medicated to play, now yes Bradley won by 27 but Brooke Copeland had 34 and what seemed like 15 rebounds, now Cleveland has some players that should have stepped up and they will, Shawnia Anderson the freshman post starter for Cleveland will make a big difference the next meeting she will not be in foul trouble, but teams will now catch on to what will make the difference later in the season. I think Bradley is good, but the rest remain to be seen on how far they go it is still early. Brooke Copeland did what she was suppose to on the floor and she is the real deal. Not the out come we wanted but , there will be another game.

Lets not continue the cycle of blame, we can say alot of reasons why some team beat another team but does it really matter after the fact. If the point guard walked or double dribbled , really is that the reason Cleveland won? Maybe because the same point guard got 7 rebounds and 7 assist at crucial times, just saying. The same point guard had 2 fouls in th first quarter and was on the bench . Well it really won't matter this year anyway both WALKER VALLEY AND CLEVELAND ARE OUT and only time will tell who can bounce back. Good luck to all.

'SMOKEY MT SPORTS' HAS FREE TOURNAMENTS , HIGH LEVEL OF COMPETITION AND EVENTUALLY WILL REALLY BLOSSOM BECAUSE OF IT. Robpride is right and has been for a long time, the vote means nothing when the majority of the teams are under the same umberalla and have their own agenda. HOST SOME OF THE SUB STATE AND STATE TOURNAMENTS IN CHATTANOOGA/CLEVELAND GIVE THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TO ALL PLAYERS. THESE AREA PLAYERS FIND THEMSELVES COMBINING WITH GA AND AL, JUST TO GET REAL COMPETITION WITHOUT THE DRIVE. LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD LET EVERY TEAM KNOW WHAT IS AT STAKE WHEN YOU WIN STATE, HOW MUCH MONEY OR NO MONEY ? WHAT ARE YOU REALLY PLAYING FOR IN EACH DIVISION? MAKE THE AAU ORGANIZATION AN OPEN BOOK. HOST SOME OF THE STATE MEETING IN OTHER COUNTIES. 1. I can only assume that after what happened this year at the state level and then just opening Nationals up to anybody , sounds like the whole organization need to adopt the "kid first rule". Make the sancationed tournaments more affordable. 2. Remind the referee the game isn't about them , or their personal agenda believe it or not you hammer down on the free coaches , yet the paid officials insite most problems. 3. Give the teams that win sancationed tournaments a real reason to win, substate means nothing... you don't get a medal, a plaque or anything. Supposely the top two teams go to STATE , wow what does that mean? U go to state and lose all of your games an don't make it to Sunday. Here is the problem with that picture the teams that work their hometown butts off to get to the state, is then beat 91-10 by a team that has gone all over and outside of the STATE to get girls to compete at state level when they have no intention of even going to the Nationals. So teams began to look at why waist your time joining AAU when there are other leagues less expensive now getting the same amount of Exspoure with less drama. (HOW DO YOU FIX THAT)? AAU GIRLS BASKETBALL STOP BEING ABOUT THE GIRLS A LONG TIME AGO, BECAUSE GIRLS GROW UP TO BECOME WOMEN AND THERE ARE VERY FEW WOMEN IN THE DECISON MAKING ROLE AT AAU GIRLS BASKETBALL ORGANIZATION. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT WORKS ASK THE GIRLS. POLL THE PLAYERS , GET SOME REAL FEED BACK. IF YOU LISTEN IT WILL BE A WIN WIN SITUATION . WOMEN ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT BUT THEY ARE PAINFULLY HONEST.

Yes , TN Attack defeated TN Xtreme 13U 59-56. TN Xtreme and Attack should have never met before 6:00 pm, but for some reason the Xtreme who has won the substate the last two years did not benefit from being the number 1 seed. There were 8 teams entered and by the time the tournament was official there were 7 teams which would have given Xtreme a bye, instead it automatically gives a loser bracket team a bye. The Attack and Xtreme game was at 9:00 am on Saturday Morning, and Xtreme was playing with 4 starters injured before they ever got to substate, when I say injured Xtreme should have opted out of playing regardless of the money they had already paid. The girls played their best game with the Attack , and then played Lady Mayhem and won by 2pts and the lost to the Pink Panthers, after beating them on Friday night in (OT) . What sense does this make again, we have 8 teams in the EAST bracket and the others only have 2 or 3 and walk over automatically. I am not downing substate ,but I can see how a team may not want to play a qualifier when it so unfair. There is no right way about it. Now, we have teams that have been present at the state for the last 3 or 4 years will not be there. What should happen in the regions with less than 4 teams in a bracket should only be allowed 1 team to the states and if there are 6 or more in a bracket there should have at least 4 teams. Well ,are we about to see your true colors come out... ? Hum, so you did have a problem with our team beating you. I really don't know why? Your game wasn't the championship. The CENTER wasn't your home court, so why were you upset again? We were fully aware of how you were going to act when we won, because you are very narrow minded, news flash there are basketball teams outside of upper cumberland and oh, yea Memphis, too. The championship game was played between MACON AND CLEVELAND MIDDLE .
