  1. You should say "some" parents are...... there are a lot of the parents, especially on the booster club that supports this team and if you look at the number of signs and dollar amount raised from the community businesses, you absolutely can't say that this team is not supported. Sure, some parents are just down right ugly, especially in the stands and around the coaching staff's family, which is just, sorry to say, found in any community, the redneck mentality. We do support our coaches, just not all of them, especially when they are acting toward someone's son they way they wouldn't act around their own children! This is high school, not college or NFL!! This is all falling on the head coach, the responsibility stops there. If your assistants are acting in an unseemly manner, talking about what they would do different if they were the coach to parents and kids, refusing to do what you say on the field during a game, even screaming at the head coach on the side lines in an argument, then you get rid of them, or you pay the price!! Coach White does not seem to be the type of person that likes confrontations. Sometimes you have to have them. Also, as far as administration not supporting, that's central office, not in school admins.
  2. I'm so happy that you have your team mates as your friends and they are there for you. The realtionships you have made will carry on into your later life. My son probably being one of them since he's played since they had a Quarterback club. I haven't talked about the players and as for me not being nice?!? What!??!? Attack them not as men, just as coaches....that is two separate things!! When you grow up, you will realize that those things are separate!!! If you didn't mean it, you shouldn't type it!! You can quit bringing up the dumb as he looks comment, you've already apologized haven't you?
  3. In reading all the posts, I don't know of anyone that would disagree with you about Nick's character, etc. I like him as a person, like his family, think his kids are cute as can be. I disagree with his coaching, which is far different than his status as a man of integrity. Most of these posts have been about what has happened to the team on and off the field from a coaching view in terms of discipline/no discipline, rules being different for different players, assistant coaches not showing respect to players or even Nick. I'm not concerned with wins/losses, just what my son is learning on/off the field by ALL of these coaches because that's who is influencing him while all his time is spent in this year round sport. Nick does not, and has not had, the support from administration nor some of his coaches. You can be a great man and not be an effective head coach, especially if your assistants are undermining you with players and others.
  4. That's what we want at LCHS too and haven't had it!!!
  5. I hope that is just a poor choice of words!! If not, that's not nice!! It's okay to disagree with coaching tactics but no excuse to attack a man personally.
  6. Please see Coacht's posts concerning the use of profanity.
  7. He resigned as head coach. Does he still intend to stay with his teaching position and track head coach? Anyone know?
  8. We don't have a choice in playing 4A!! Believe me, we know better than anyone that we need to be moved back down but since it's determined on school size, not team size or ability, we have to deal with it. You're right MHS, we wanted a change and we got it, the Head Coach is the ultimate person that has to answer for things but he's got A LOT of assistants that need to go to!!!
  9. Of course you haven't heard it. They don't do it in front of parents/visitors!!! I've had a senior player this year, a senior from last year, and two other players on this team tell me that all the coaches cuss them so bad that they wish they could hit them. If it was on of their friends talking to them that way they would be decked. No excuse for any cussing......calling them pus*&%, and get on the loser bus (which was supposedly the second bus for the non starters). Enough examples for you or do you need more
  10. HAaaa! In Lenoir City, if you were on the team last year, even no playing time, you earned a letter. This really upset off some of the older players that had to earn them the year before that!! It was a pitiful disgrace. I don't care that the team was short 5 starters and they had to pull so many other under classmen up. Not everyone deserved those letters!!!!!
  11. You are wrong!! Not every coach would have done it!!!
  12. What?!?! Mrs. Gentry is write? You've lost me, I don't understand.
  13. That's amazing support dollars from a booster club. What has the administration funded for the football team? It sure didn't go into the facilities or the field house!!!!! Have you seen the inside of the press box?!? It stays open to the elements and the stadium is crumbling is some places. The field looks great but that's because of the hard work of one coach. Where does the gate money go?
  14. Well, they do have a new athletic director. Hopefully some changes are a comin'!!
  15. I agree, no names please!! There are all types of people that look at this board and that is not needed. Also, in reference to the above comment about going out and finding players.....I have been told multiple times, by multiple parents of players that if the coaching situation doesn't change, meaning some coaches, not all, need to go due to numerous reasons they will not be allowing their kids to play next year. Word is out, all players, parents, etc. talk and the pool to pick from has been/is depleted!! These kids worked SO hard this year to SO much negative comments. You can't expect wins all the time....some people do. Some people would like to see more than 18 straight games lost...... My main concern is the program! We are in 4A, competing against 4A, and that's not going to change. Administration needs to step up and fund this program like it is 4A and not base it on wins/losses. Look at the band's new tower......and how the Varsity players have to change practice fields to accomodate the band, soccer, etc. sometimes even three times a day, they are changing practice areas because they have to "share"!!! This is the VARSITY football team and they have to move?!?!? Where is the money to fund the team to get it to a 4A level? Have you seen under the stadium?!? It's like a third world country under there! Yes, this year gate admission is lower than last because of the big games being away, but that shouldn't matter if to a 4A school...and what about the booster's? What kind of money is spent?
  16. I know that a few years ago a coach from the youth football program was approached by a high school coach and offered help. The youth football coach didn't want it and very rudely turned down that help. I also know that a local director wanted help on the sidelines from some of the high school players on Sat. during games. Do you think any of the kids stepped up or the high school coach made community involvement a priority? Help the community and maybe the community would help back? Just a thought.
  17. The rules? What rules?!? They are made up as they go along. As for winning, Coach had a chance when he had Rommel Hightower......what's the excuse when you do have good players?!?!?
  18. You can go to the team's website and read the letter, it's posted on there. www.lcpanthers.com /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. LC has a good Coach?!?!?!? Come on!!! No discipline or if there is, it is not consistent! A player was allowed to play Friday night that had shot off fireworks in the field house last week. After the fiasco last year, why is this kid still on the team?!? Other players tear out of the parking lot like they are trying to run people over and the parents are the ones watching. Then you have one of our players after the team at Halls cussing his own team loud enough for parents from both teams, some with small kids, to hear. Why was this player allowed to address his own team members in this manner? These players don't fear or respect this coach. He says one thing and doesn't stick to it!!! I do think he's a good guy and like him personally and he does have good intentions. I do realize some boys are a handful but how many assistant coaches do you need to keep them in check?
  20. In Sunday's Loudon County News Herald is a letter to the editor about how people, fans, students, the community should be behind their team, winning or losing. This would be an appropriate letter for a lot of the teams on Coach T and everyone should read it!!!
