I guess I’m talking more for the fans of participating teams. Assuming hotel stays aren’t an option, with football being just that one game at “State” vs basketball being potentially three games at “State”, you have 1 round trip car ride on game day vs potentially 3 round trip car rides on game days, 2 of which are back to back days with semis and championship. That’s two different travels. Makes putting football in East or Middle more doable.
FWIW I think every TSSAA sports championship should be in Nashville or Murfreesboro.

I Understand that logic. I’d like to see football played at Nissan stadium. Just for the experience for the kids. Would the parking suck for me as a fan I’m sure it would, but imagine the experience for the student.

That’s why I used that logic. I’m in agreement that any state tournament shouldn’t be held anywhere but the middle of the state. Football state championship game works anywhere because you play one game.
As for the rest of the stuff that has nothing to do with location, I’ll just say T$$AA.

Football should be the middle of the state as well. Travel is travel if it’s one game or 3.

  3. Geographically Murfreesboro is the right place for all championships.  The biggest issue is the venue.  ITS TIME FOR SOME RENOVATIONS!!!! The place hasn’t been updated since I was in grade school. I’m in my 50’s now.  Walking in with my dad up those stairs is a struggle for him.

If any conversation is going to be had, why not consider a venue west of the Tennessee River? Believe it or not, it would be ok for the west to host an event.

Why not ETSU beautiful part of the state.  I honestly don’t think the question is about location because MTSU is the geographical center.  My only thought is MTSU needs to upgrade the building.

  5. I do feel the location is the way it should be.  It’s the geographical center of the state.  As I have stated it’s time for some updates to the building.  Looks like the football field was getting some renovations so maybe the glasshouse is next.  I honestly don’t think it’s changed since I was in grade school going with my parents. And if you think the seats are comfortable you should try visiting the Hoop.

They're riding golf carts if it takes them four hours...I'm between 4 and 4-1/2 from Gatlinburg to the west, yet I'm 2+hours from Murfreesboro. Doesn't add up.

Regardless...Murfreesboro is the geographical center of Tennessee, can't get more equal than that.

I like MTSU just wish they would do some updates.  And I would think 4 hrs is close.  It’s 2 hrs to Gatlinburg from Jamestown and 2 hrs to Murfreesboro too.  I wish football was back in Murfreesboro.

Glass House is a great venue. More centrally located. Already got teams and fans having to drive 4-5 hours to Cookeville for football. Got to make it fair for everyone. Nothing wrong with MTSU.

Football is in Chattanooga.  From talking to Gatlinburg Pittman fans they said it was a 4 hr drive for them to MTSU. I do wish  MTSU would do some updating.

Which venue would be better as a host? Both good arenas centrally located, Tech’s gym looks better and more updated than MTSU when watching the D-2 tourney a couple weeks ago.

Seating at tech is more comfortable for sure

    Dan Hughes is top notch!

To each their own I guess.  The lady would be making a point about one team and he would continue making the same point talking about the other team.  You could tell it was a struggle for her to try and correct him and not be rude.  Seemed to be knowledgeable of basketball for sure but his play by play definitely isn’t for me.  I did hear them say this was his last tournament. Hope he enjoys retirement.

Since when does a player on a team that doesn’t get past the first round get put on all tournament team? A player with 26 points but 8 turnovers? You had others with 23 points and 22 points and 24 points that only had 1-2 turnovers and 8-9 rebounds that didn’t make it past the first round either.

I missed this one who made all tournament

AA is just to competitive to pick a winner. Almost every game had you on the edge of your seat. Even watching from home.

I watched several games from 3a down in person this year. By far one of the better tournament from a fan perspective.

Here come the excuses. 12 point margin my friend! That's not refs. That's one team that was not going to loose! Loretto has nothing to be ashamed of. It was a great game. Don't blame officiating. Two teams playing their hearts out! Congratulations Loretto and Gibson County for providing us fans with a great game!

Not making excuses at all I could care less who won. That was a great open field tackle no matter.

  13. Can they not get someone decent to help with the play by play. I don’t care if you have coached 30 years it don’t make you a good play by play.  This guy in the single A game is horrible.

I said it before they played...depended on whose supporting cast showed up. Hart was held down for the most part but her supporting cast did the dang thing. Will not take anything against beaty. I'm all west tn and I think she's better than Hart, but Gibson county is a second half team and they wanted it more. It will be a battle against Loretto. Wish I could be there but I'll have nfhs tuned in for sure!!

You nailed it. The supporting cast was the difference.  I am a York homer and happily admit it. I said on the ride down yesterday Reese will not be able to carry them. They had the open looks they need the shots just didn’t fall. Several times this year when it mattered those shots fell. Yesterday just wasn’t the day. Congrats to GC.

Just for starters, breaking you neck to tack on a cheap TD the 1st game against Oneida, Kids taunting the kids from Oneida when they ran out the 2ond time they played Oneida. Hitting late, mouthy, no 2 was yelling at our sideline all night. 70 is dirty as heck.

York ran the same play over and over to score late in the game.  Back when I played football it was my job to line and score and your job to line up and stop me. For 48 minutes not 46. You think you didn’t have players running their mouth last night.  Unlike you I won’t call numbers but you have the same type of kids. 70 has a motor and it’s going from snap to whistle.

I really appreciate it! I hate to see any team have kids hurt. They are kids, after all. A lot of our boys move straight into basketball and then to baseball. Small town athletics can be tough. Hampton is really such a beautiful place. Thank you for appreciating it.

Our school is the same.  Multiple sport athletes are how small town athletics work.  Most mountain towns are beautiful. Have to say I’m proud of our little section of mountain here

We did our share of traveling 2 years ago when we went to the championship. We never complained. We showed up and we played ball. My nephew is graduating and my husband is set to PCS out of the area so we won’t be around but I’m sure you’ll get the same lively banter at Hampton if the two meet again. These Hamptonites may grow old, but we never tarnish. We’re a shiny as a new nickel and as sharp as a tack, always. I hope the next time y’all meet will be under much different circumstances, with both teams healthy. Even if they have to come to your place!

I hate your QB was injured and hate it more than anything  for him especially being his senior year.  I will definitely say a prayer for the young man.  Both teams had injuries York had starting offensive tackle and DE out as well.  You have a beautiful setting for a stadium I bet it’s beautiful when the leaves are changing on the mountains.
