  1. He certainly has a strange throwing motion--but he seems to get the ball there when EHS needs it.
  2. This all brings up an interesting point that I wondered about when MBA played Hillsboro earlier in the year. With all the nuturing being done at EHS, why did Marvin Hughes and the Bilhovde brothers leave and go to Hillsboro?
  3. Predictions for Friday Night's Games: Ensworth 24 McCallie 14 MUS 28 BGA 14 MBA 21 CBHS 6 BA 24 Briarcrest 0
  4. Just thought it was interesting that they rated West TN so much lower. If MUS moves ahead in the playoffs as many of us expect, that may rectify the low position of the West teams in future national polls (or should we call them "National Guesses?").
  5. Well...one reason is that there are rules for this sort of thing. If the rules are ignored in this case, what will prevent this sort of thing from happening again and again and again? Everyone knows (or should know) that restrictions come with transfers of this type. I am sure that the Ensworth people explained those restrictions prior to the transfer since they had the kid's best interests at heart. Obviously, they concluded that it would be better for him to sit out a year of football but be in a different environment at Ensworth. Now everyone will just have to live within the rules and move forward.
  6. Did MBA have any new injuries Friday night?
  7. Maybe Bullard will play some D this week. It would be fun to see these 2 big guys face off.

  10. Wow. I don't have an idea what you are talking about. Any hints?
  11. The website said "Top 40 Players" period. I highlighted the ones that were playing in the playoffs only so that the folks interested could discover who they might want to focus on if they go to a game Friday night. It was not meant to be a slight to anyone who was not on the list. If Tavarres plays QB in college, he will have to completely re-work his throwing mechanics. He is a great high school player and a real playmaker, but he will have to find another position to play at the next level.

  13. In last week's national rankings (which will be updated today): Ensworth #82 MBA #107 MUS # 178 BA #286 Olive Branch #323
  14. MUS's win over Olive Branch is one of only 2 losses for Olive Branch. Their only other loss was a 21-13 defeat to South Panola. South Panola is ranked higher (#45) than Moeller (#150) or Prattville (#54) by unapproved website.

  16. From Scoutdotcom: The state of Tennessee has been flooded with schools from across the country looking for solid offensive linemen. The state has already seen two big time prospects, Alex Bullard, 6-4, 290 pound offensive guard from Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy and Austin Long, 6-5.5, 290 pound offensive tackle from Memphis-Briarcrest make their early commitments. Bullard committed to Notre Dame. Long to Georgia. Will these two fellows ever face each other Friday night? I don't think Bullard played any D last week. Does Long play defense?
  17. Do these guys ever play both ways? Unless BA knew that they were going to Briarcrest regardless of the outcome of the game (and the TSSAA website said differently until after midnight on Friday night), I would have thought that they would have been doing everything they could to beat Ryan. Unless they knew that the website was wrong, they would have been under the impression that they would have to go to MUS after a loss to Ryan. I am sure they didn't want MUS in the 1st round.
  18. Ensworth posters eerily quiet. Are you working on a secret weapon?
  19. It's tough to compare East/Middle to West teams this year. BGA's defeat of Briarcrest is about all we have to go on. I think most folks in this area feel that BA is a step (or two) above BGA despite their 6-4 record. If BGA can go to Memphis and beat Briarcrest, I would be surprised if BA doesn't do the same.
  20. If MBA plays the way that they have played the last 2 weeks, they will have a lot more than 14 pts.
  21. The BA boys showed plenty of heart against Ryan. I saw no loss of effort or intensity. They had some bad breaks, missed a couple of key chances and had situtations where they were not put in a position to utilize their talent. Ryan beat CPA 52-15 this year and was ahead 35-0 at the end of the 1st qtr. Brandon, if you have a son on the CPA team, how would you like it if someone said that he had no heart because Ryan wiped the floor with his team? Remember these are just kids we are talling about.
  22. If there is an upset, I would go with McCallie. Even though BA has to go to Memphis, I don't see Briarcrest giving them a game.
  23. If BA can get by BCS, I think they will guve Ensworth all that they can handle in the 2nd round. It will be tough to run on BA and Ensworth will does not have the outside talent that Ryan had. Ryan used Mark Mulloy (a 6'3" 240er who plays DT on defense and is likely to play basketball in college) to beat BA several times. That was the key to the game. They also have 2 speedy WRs (Franciscan and Wright) that made key catches against BA. Ensworth just throws the ball down the seam after lulling the D to death with their run game. Doubt they can do that against BA.
  24. It's all about the numbers these days: Height. weight, 40 time. Coaches looking for "Workout Warriors" not FB players.
