  1. I know this set of messages are for big red fans but wanted to reply that this is great news. I remember the posts from last year and I'm glad he has recovered.
  2. Well coached no doubt, playoff position will be dependent on juniors stepping up in key positions. We're excited either way and look forward to HC coming to Munford. Not sure the results will be different from last year but at least we won't have the long drive home! Good luck this season and let'shope JCM get's a coach so we can hear fromt the Yanker!
  3. I saw him live and he is a D-1 player. Not sure of SEC type but he definately could play at the C-USA, Sun Belt or similar conference. Not a concern about strength or heart but just the beating on a week to week basis at running back.
  4. Henry County has got to be the choice in the preseason. The rest of these make sense although we are hoping for a little magic for the Munford bunch. Young and inexperienced across the board so you never know what to expect... Well, except for mistakes....
  5. Based on the returners and talent level I would go with these 2 in West TN: 4A: Henry County 5A: Millington I don't get see many of the teams so don't read too much into my post. Millington is loaded (again) and I expect great things. HC was really good last year and should be again. Kingsbury brings a dynamic runner back as well as some of the other 4A teams but I was looking at all around.
  6. Ok already, you're reading way too much to my posts. Henry County High School are the champions of the region. I'm not trying to down grade or even hinting at anything less. I believe they have a great set of talent and coaching to go with it. I enjoy the HC posters and their support they provide the team. No sarcasm, no attempt at humor. End of story, end of posts on the subject (from me anyway). Way too serious and way too far on the attacks. Have a great season.
  7. Hate to hear about 2 years ago, I wasn't around so don't know who or why they would do it. Don't agree with it regardless of the source. Not my intention nor reasoning for the posts. Hope you get it out of your system and if you feel that way about pay back then have at it. This is a kids game that I happen to enjoy and don't see it as life or death. Hopefully posting will relieve the pain or at least get you back to even with the past. To the rest of HC fans (and even Yanker), I look forward to the new season and watching the kids play. Hope they all do well and stay healthy.
  8. Wow, I haven't been back for a while but noticed you seemed a bit out of sorts over my comment. The sarcasm wasn't about Munford's chances of beating HC just the way it was said. You have already claimed the championship and I wouldn't bet against HC winning the region at all. I have much respect for the Pats and their commitment from the players, coaches and fans. I certainly agree that it will be proven on the field and that was simply my statement. Seems like I hit a nerve when you read your own post from a different perspective. It is amazing that you feel obligated to run down the rest of the region but consider that "normal, pleasant and unaggressive". Talent and good coaching wins and while I believe there are multiple good coaches in the league there is definately a difference in the talent/experience. HC is the top team and will remain there until beaten. Should be a fun ride for the Pats fans and hopefully we can do enough to get you ready for the playoffs. I'll try to get back sooner next time, didn't really think I would need to explain what I thought was a simple jab at a fellow poster and a little information to add on the region. Hope your health wasn't affected and look forward to seeing the season unfold. Lets hope all the kids stay healthy and injury free.
  9. Well sounds like it's all wrapped up in May. What a season and congrats on that championship won in the spring! Believe me, we all know that Henry is talented and should win the region but unfortunately sometimes playing on the field is a little different than the message boards. Someone asked about Munford, extremely young and hard to tell what may happen. More size and a little more athletic but a mix of "Juniors and Sophs to be". Randle and staff are on board and continue to work them hard. Injuries could play a pretty big role with so much youth. Of course, those will play a role for all of the teams so we'll just wait and see.... To the less boastful HC folks, it is indeed good to see everyone back. I'm happy there is some spring football so we can at least think about another season. HC is #1 until someone beats them and that will be a tough job for the rest of the region. Good Luck to all of the region teams!
  10. You may want to dress the freshman team for this one! It's true that stranger things can happen but I don't see this one. There is no doubt the coaching staff is all over it and RE has very little to offer in the way of resistance. Dry track at Munford and things could get interesting. It will be a close one and not similar to the last game. Hopefully we can minimize the running back while getting some points again. Didn't see Fairley this year but it will be a struggle for Hardin. Not sure if there is a home field advantage other than the bus ride since Memphis games (Melrose the exception) don't usually get much attendance. Would be great if Northside could pull it off but Melrose would have to be looking way ahead. Experience and home field is a tough combo to overcome but Northside is a much, much better 4 seed than RE so it could happen. Good Luck and hope for no injuries across West Tennessee!
  11. Agree. Melrose/JNS will be closer than expected but Melrose has experience and speed Fairley and Hardin is a pick'em so you have to go with home field. Henry rolls and can rest the first string after halftime Munford/Kingsbury should be interesting. Dry field will give Kingsbury's back some better footing but I think Munford will hold on in a tight one at home.
  12. CougarMike is the better one to answer but from what I saw of the 2 teams part of the determination is how well Henry can pressure the QB and cover quick hitters. I've heard that Hardin was running the ball really well lately but I think Henry's front line can contain that part of the game. If the Hardin QB gets time then he is very good at finding receivers although some seem to drop at the worse times. #4 is good but Munford did a good job of covering him and applying pressure. Hardin could win if they get quick scores and build a lead and/or if Henry has multiple turnovers. Based on all the chatter about last year's game at Munford then certainly penalties or mistakes in the red zone could determine the game. My take is Henry is probably deeper and overall better but Hardin has good skill positions that can turn a game around if they are on track. Now I will stay off the board as CougarMike gives much better insight and let you know that I will be a Henry County fan on Friday night in addition to a Munford fan visting the "Rock". Will be my first time there and sounds like it will be an experience regardless of outcome!
  13. No doubt, I just thought I would keep it in the age group for high school football! I'm trying to figure out if I should watch out for a crazy gator or the w(h)ine and cheese party! I thought it would be catfish but sounds like there are some cooks up there that take "fine food & drink" to a new level..... I'll look for the smoke so I make it to the stadium.
  14. I have only recently joined this message board and find it all interesting but some Yanker would be enlightening... Not going to argue the supremacy issue but just thought I would put something in so the big red nation would know not everyone is for the same team. Even though it appears we are in for a long night I am looking forward to my first adventure in the "HC Zone". Have played lots of golf there but never seen the spectacle that must a Friday night during football. We'll show up and take what the night brings either way. Let's hope there are no serious injuries (other than some disappointment in the stands one way or another) and a good competitive game. I would also vote for the letting that poor horse die, it doesn't really matter or make a difference. The mental aspect of a 15-18 year old is way beyond me on a hourly basis so a year is not even worth guessing!
  15. I'll wait on the Yanker for this one, the posts regarding doctors and hurt players last week was much too good to try and match!
  16. Thanks, we do know that #34 is a hoss and everyone says he is much better than #4 at Brighton. Seeing how #4 ran for days then it will probably be an uphill battle but that's why we play. We are in a transition year and are playing many sophs this year. I can see why some folks want to say it is smoke and mirrors. Guess that's one way to say it shouldn't happen but when it does then you gotta give the guys a little credit. I did mean to reply regarding the loss last year in the playoffs. Munford had the same thing happen to them that night as HC did when they played Munford. Bad breaks, turnovers and missed assignments which are the perfect recipe to get beat. Would have loved to see a HC-Munford rematch in the playoffs but just didn't work out. The good news is that win or lose we'll still be there each and every Friday night. Kind of what it's all about....
  17. Wow, I'm not sure why you guys keep calling on CougarMike to poor mouth Munford when formerCoach81 has it covered. We are slow, small and not athletic so the score could be right. Our team is relatively young and inexperienced so you just never know what you are going to get. They will play hard and give it everything (of course somewhat limited) they have until the end of the game. That's all we can ask of them so winning and losing is just the end result. Not that we don't want to win but you just want to see the effort. I'm sure you can tell I'm new to the posting site but I have been reading it over the past few weeks. The game last year was a good one and I didn't see any manhandling on either side. Turnovers and penalties will always hurt and it turned out in Munford's favor. It's a game played by kids so I don't count it as "undisciplined" or "unfocused" just how it played out that night. I look forward to seeing all the festivities surrounding the game at HC. Based on the posts, I can tell you enjoy it like we do in Munford. Just remember, based on formerCoach81's "inside information", we might just send a note asking you to excuse us from the game. As far as I know, that message hasn't been relayed to the team yet so hopefully I'll get to come up and see the game.
