  1. lmao @ the doublemint twins... they were tough, could bring me some discipline to the dragons.. they had that hardcore look about them lol

Looks like this conversation is is getting very funny. I thought that I would make it more serious with my choice for Clinton HC. Ernie Cossin.

  2. Believe that's what I said Einstein! Also..it's woe not wo and its Brute' not Bretu.

Just thought I would write like most everyone else on here does. Did not want to seem like someone one who tries to use proper grammer. Thought I would not be accepted as a real Coach T poster. Hey Einstein, do you know who is trying to get Coach Helton's job. Since you were into making spelling corrections, you might also be a visionary into who will be the next Central head coach. I promise to try not and not offend the coach T posters who cringe at gramatical errors.

  3. Know exactly how this went down....Coaches wanting Helton's job, parents butting into discipline, parents raising heck about the past several seasons, parents, etc. using any and everything possible to paint a picture of a belligerent, threatening, and policy breaking individual. Helton has been a class guy and has put some mighty good football teams on the field. He didn't forget how to coach overnight! You people that put this man in this position will reap your just rewards in the coming years. Sun sets over the Bobcats as Helton departs!

You can keep talking about how Coach Helton was done wrong, but that will not change a thing. He was railroaded out because he was being back stabed by people just like the guy that back stabbed the other coaches. The back stabbers just wanted Coach Heltons job. What I do not understand is why no talk about one of the back stabbers getting the job, or wanting the job. Wo to who ever gets coach Helton's job. From Fountain City to Black Qak Ridge, the one who gets Coach Helton's job, will always be looking over his shoulder to see who is going to back stab him. "Et tu Bretu"

  4. Does anyone that saw the scrimmage between Heritage and HVA know what the score was? Many people report scores such as 2-2 when telling how many touchdowns were scored. I was just wanting to get a guage on how Heritage did against HVA, and compare how Heritage does against Rhea Co. on Thursday.

  5. I have heard that Chris Lindsay, former head coach at West High has applied for the job. I think that he would be the best qualified. He is the most experienced of all of the candidates. He always had very competitive teams and ran a first class program at West. I heard that he retired from coaching to get into administration, but when the opportunity came up to be coach and administrator, he was denied that opportunity. I really can't understand how this has happened. I think that who ever hires Coach Lindsay will get a great coach.

  6. You are right that T$$AA screwed Clinton. You are more right about not having deep enough pockets, enough money power or political power with T$$AA. You need to be more like Knoxville Catholic. The player at Clinton violated the rules of his hardship ruling and did not live with his father according to the ruling byT$$AA. I guess that Cathoilc does not have to even go by the simplest T$$AA rules that you have to live with your parents, parent, of legal guardian. Daniel Hood did not live with his parents when he attended Catholic. He even lived by himself when he was a senior at Catholic and they won a state championship. Who paid for his transportation to Catholic. And who paid for his appartment and food when he was a senior. Maybe you people at Clinton should start recruiting convicted juveinle offenders and make their story so sad that the T$$AA allows the players to live by themselves and someone provides them an apartment, car, money for food and expenses, and pays their tuition if they go to a private school. Catholic got theirs this year, the multipler and Scott Meadows. Good luck Clinton.

  7. So if Signal Mtn is going to be at the scrimmage, does anyone know anything about them. What was there record last year? Have they ever been to the playoffs? What classification are they in? Do they have any outstanding players? What type of offense and defense do they run? I still have not heard any comments about any of the teams that are scrimmaging at Tech on Friday.

  8. I think that either no one knows anything about this scrimmage, and the teams participating, or no one really cares about these teams, especially Cookville, Hendersonville, and Laverngne. Maybe these are not the teams participating. I saw on another thread that Signal Mtn was going to scrimmage Cookville at Tech. I also saw that Hendersonville Beech was scheduled to scrimmage siegel Fri. Aug 2. I did not know that siegel was scheduled to be there also. Maybe this is a fake scrimmage, or you can come and play if you decide on Friday morning that you want to scrimmage. It is probably that these teams don't have any fans that care or don't know anything about football.

  9. I hear from some people in Knoxville that Bearden will be involved in a scrimmage at Tenn Tech on Fri, Aug 7. I hear the teams also scrimmaging will be Cookville, Hendersonville Beech, and Lavergne. Does anyone in Middle Tn. know much about these three teams from Middle Tn. What were there records last year, what offenses and defenses do they run? Any outstanding players on these teams. How did these teams from Middle Tn. do in the playoffs last year, and are these Middle Tn. teams expected to be very good this year or go far in the playoffs. Last question? Will Lavergne be bringing Shirly along.

  10. Stanton actually wanted to bring Ron back before last season and there were at least 3 coaches that said they would quit if he was hired. Personally I would have called their bluff and hired him because the positives of him coming in would be greater than the negatives of the 3 leaving.

From what I hear, Ron would accept a job if they offered him one. The hardest part would be the sort of awkwardness between him and Blade because they went for same job but Ron has nothing against Blade personally so I'm sure he could put it behind him and coach where he wants to be. I think the drama or the soap opera has been created by the community and in places like this, he's not a very dramatic person. What he is is a dam fine Oline coach and a very bright offensive mind. He would also help a lot with the strength and conditioning program.

There are some good coaches though on the staff. There are some that are good schemers but not good teachers and vice versa. One area that Blade needs to excel that Stevens didn't at all is coaching other coaches. One area they need to really improve is the freshmen team. I like Phil Thompson a lot, he seems like a very good coach but that freshmen team should have been a lot better because they had a ton of talent. They're going to get a lot more talent next year.

How much is Ron paying you to prop him up

  11. Heritage isn't the easiest place to win. Tough culture to overcome. There are some good players there and hard workers, but it takes more than a few. It's tough to win in that football region unless you have a fair amount of speed.

There is no easy fix there. I think Rewis did a pretty good job. They just had to play a lot of teams who were bigger and faster. I hope they can get it going a little bit. Lot of good people there.

Easiest fix for Heritage is to get a coach who can keep Heritage players at Heritage, and recruit some players out of Blount County and surounding counties like Maryville and Alcoa do. Until Maryville and Alcoa stop allowing transfers into their schools from outside of their established school zones, Heritage will never reach it's football potential. Here is the proof. Meadows was succesful at Alcoa because he could take advantage of Alcoa's open school zone policy. He knew how to play the game in Blount County. When he went to William Blount he knew the advantages that Maryville and Alcoa had and worked hard to keep his players there and influence players to move into the William Blount school zone. Players matter more than coaches. IF YOU AIN'T CHEATIN,YOU AIN'T TRIN !

  12. Exactly what I was saying. The new coach can recruit new, better players. Just keep Berry and the "Possum" Gerald Jones.

Go easy on the Aaron Douglas love fest. The guy is a freshman in college. Do the math. That may not be somebody you want your kids to emulate.

Leaving Webb the way he did will come back to haunt him. I guess the way he left Webb will be the same way he will leave UT. I guess he will put himself, no his parents will put him out to the best bidder. He did not sign with Philip Fulmer, he signed with UT.

  13. Well they recruited their entire defense this year. Their linebackers are 5'8 185 5'6 170 5'6 190. One of their defenseive tackles is 5'10 190, One of their ends is 6'0 200. I'll tell you what though buddy, they need to fire that recruiter cuz the boys over there are just too big and athletic for the rest of Tennessee to compete. It couldn't be work ethic or desire. Because 17 and 18 year old boys just don't possess that kind of commitment do they. Yeah your'e right, Maryville cheats. Some body should say something.

I never said they were cheating, I just said they were recruiting. You were the one who said they were cheating. Everyone recruits, I guess you are just saying that Maryville recruits and cheats. There is an old saying in coaching, If you are not cheating, then you are not trying. I just guess that Maryville just tries harder, just like you said they do.

  14. According to the article Douglas is considering leaving UT after they fired Coach Fulmer. Where might he go? If he does leave and Coach Fulmer finds a new team, does Aaron follow him?

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3684900

Read the article about Aaron Douglas wanting to transfer to another school because Coach Fulmer getting fired. I guess this family talk is all just talk, but Aaron Douglas should be used to just talk because of the way he told the coaches at Webb that he was going to stay at Webb even though his Dad was shopping him around to high schools the whole time. Maryville won the recuriting war because Coach Fulmer told him he would sign him to a scholarship if he went there and did good. I guess the coaches and administration at Webb were very suprised after the Douglas's told them Aaron was transfering to Marville after he had recieved a discounted tuition to Webb for many years because his mother was an assistant girls basketball coach at Webb. That really showed loyality by them. I guess they told the coaches and administration at Webb that Aaron was transfering to Maryville for better academic opportunities and college preperation. That is what all the Maryville people would tell you, that it was for academics and not just football. The Maryville recuriting machine just keeps on rolling and it will just get better in preperation for 6A competition next year. Could anybody tell me who are the recruiting this year and do the have any verbal commitments.

Thanks for the coaching clinic on the 3-5-3. Seems to me it is just the old 5-3 stack where you just x stunt and play a 3 deep secondary. The only change is the D ends dropped off into the flat so that is covered pre snap. One idea offensively against it is to run a two TE formation or unbalanced and just run it until they adjust up to the formation and then go play action out of the same formations. If running works out of two TE'S or unbalanced formation and they do not adjust then just keep on running the ball. When they adjust up to the formation then run play action or bootlegs to keep them off balance. The 3-5-3 was just for offenses spreading out recievers and running backs to get defenses to get off the line scrimmage. When a defense runs a balanced defense the offenses need to be unbalanced to get an advantage, but what do I know.

The 3-5-3: the new defense sweeping the south!

Coach and Athletic Director, Dec, 2003 by Steve Blanchard

E-mail Print Link Coaches, are you looking for a way to distract the offense before and after the snap? Everybody is, of course. Our recommendation? Try the 3-5-3 alignment. It could be just what you have been looking for--a way to create doubt in the minds of the offensive blockers and:

    1. Create doubt for the QB on his coverage reads after receiving the snap.

    2. Drop eight people into coverage or rush all eight at the same time.

    3. Allow the LB's and SS's to constantly move in and out of the LOS.

    4. Never let the offense know for sure who is rushing and who is dropping into coverage.

    5. Great for every situation we play--vs running teams, passing teams, and even on the goal-line.

    [iLLUSTRATION OMITTED]

You need only three down linemen: So think about the speed you can put on the field. Think you will be undersized? Just think how frustrating it will be for that offensive lineman to hit a fast-moving target.

The alignment of the down linemen never changes. They are always headup technique players. We will, however, move the linemen on the snap. In the base defense:

The nose plays straight-ahead and the tackles loop outside.

The linebackers always stack behind the down linemen at 4 to 5 yards depth. Think how hard it will be to draw up blocking schemes for a stacked defense!

The SS's alignment is basically 2X7 vs a TE and 4X7 vs a SE with feet parallel and a 45-degree shoulder tilt toward the QB.

    [iLLUSTRATION OMITTED]

The corners align inside 1X 9 from the #1 receiver with a 45-degree angle to the QB.

    [iLLUSTRATION OMITTED]

The FS will align strong-side "A" gap 12 yards deep with feet parallel.

This defense is really a disguised Gap 8. The front eight all have gap responsibilities. In the base defense the nose will have one "A" gap and the MLB will have the other "A" gap, depending on the blocking scheme.

The outside linebackers will have the "B" gap to their side.

The tackles will have the "C" gap to their side.

The SS's will be responsible for the "D" gap to their side.

Versus the run, the front eight play their gap responsibilities.

Versus the veer, MLB and F/S play Dive, QB, to Pitch.

The front will react to pressure keys.

The nose must force a double team.

The tackles cannot get cut off.

The linebackers must read and react with no false steps.

The SS's read their keys and must never get out-leveraged! They will slow play the QB but are responsible for the pitch.

The secondary's base coverage is cover 3. They must be able to read and break on the ball. The F/S must play with intelligence and be a sure tackler.

Versus the pass in the base defense (see diagram), we will drop eight people into coverage.

The nose is responsible for a push up the middle while looking for the "screen" or "draw."

The two tackles are responsible for contain rush on the QB.

The MLB has the middle zone.

The two OLB's have the hook/curl zones to their side. The two SS's have the flat zone to their side.

The two corners have the deep third to their side, and the FS has the deep middle zone.

Your players will love this defense, and so will you. Because this is a balanced defense, the offense has no choice but to run to the strong side; they are out-numbered on the weak side.

If the opponents run a balanced offense, you must find their tendencies and work from there. It is almost impossible to trap because of the threat of the linebackers running through and tackling the back in the backfield. Offensive coordinators just hate when that happens.

There are only a few ways to attack this defense, so you can basically work on the same plays every week. The base defense has a multitude of stunts, pressures, and coverages built into it.

The only limitation to this defense is your imagination. You can bring one or you can bring them all! Just remember that all front eight players are responsible for their own gap and make sure your coverage corresponds to how many people you bring, and you will be sound!

  16. Well, If you notice, no where in that poll do you see "100% correct". That allows them to rank Millington ahead of Germantown. If they had checked the WaCoJaCo 5A poll in advance they would of known better. I guess their not very smart. Oh, and by the way. Thats not a 5A poll.

    Who in the H E double L is Olive Branch ? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

It is a team in Mississippi that either plays in Tennessee, or has alot of Tennessee citizens playing on their team. Similar to SEBC that is in Missiissippi but is allowed to play for a T$$AA championship. Im sure that this makes since to everyone on this board.

  17. They threw me out of Farragut? When did this happen? Enlighten me. If by stating facts that DB lost to Farragut, is bashing then you are right, I did. And If by stating the fact that DB fans talk smack all season long about how great they are and will dominate any team from Knoxville, and the fact that DB has not done that, especially in the playoffs in the last 4 or more years, then yes I did bash them. I admit it. Sorry for giving facts. Facts are facts, that doesn't mean it is bashing. I have said many times that I respect DB and all of their sports teams. but some of the fans need to realize that they have not been great the last few years, but for whatever reason no matter how much you prove that fact, the fans refuse to believe it. It is simply pathetic. You didn't see Farragut people on here after they lost to LC in district in '07 claiming they were still better than everyone. We gave LC their credit and it was done, but DB fans just won't deny that their team is not the best. If thye lose, it is because of the refs, the other team got lucky, or all the ifs ands and buts you can think of. So yeah, if me giving facts is bashing then yeah, I bashed DB in the spring of '07. Over a year ago. Why are you still treating me like dirt? If you have to go all the way back to the spring of '07 to come up with something, I think its time to let it go.

Stay off Bearden/D-B thread unless you have injury update or something important to say about the game!

  18. Boy I got you dandruff up. Lets see why would I talk to Maynard cause hes a liar and a drunk. Since i did my summer running at Bearden Coach Miller and Finally had ample of opportunity to talk to me. well i wish yall the best 3-7 season have fun with that.

Jacob if you have such a problem come on down and talk. You always wanted to run your mouth but never could back it up much less face to face. I do not not understand your problems you were at bearden for two years and never saw the field. Don't keep running your mouth because you are an adult now and are making yourself look bad. Good luck @Cumberland University, Coach Miller started their for 4 years. Represent your school as best as you can. Some humble pie may be a good meal for you.
