  1. well if you ever been to Lebanon Tn there is not much to do especially my school the whole school and foot ball field sits on one or two city blocks it has only about 2300 students if that. Now you know who i am and my brother he'll be playing somewhere as a deep snapper and center. So what about you you still in school whats your # what position do you play why don't you go to the Rush and see if you can hang with my brother i doubt it. Im just curious

bigred57, are you the redheaded kid that transfered to A-E. Just checking. Seems you have some sort of problem with Bearden football? Hope you problem does not eat at you to much. I have a suggestion. If you have that much of a problem with Paul Maynard why don't you look him up and discuss this with him. I am shure you will get satisfaction. Or if you have a problem with the Bearden coaching staff just come on by and discuss it with them if you know how to get to the school. Why just get fustrated on the computer, get the most out of your fustration and talk face to face to people and you might just get all you want if you really want anything at all or do you just want to hide on the computer.

  2. I am not trying to make anyone feel bad here. I am very interested in how the team will perform the next few years. I was just pointing out with gas prices being high it doesn't make sense to have them going all the way to Jeff. Co. in a teams first year of football. and its not even varsity. I am sure in just a few short years they will be able to compete and beat some of the better teams around here.

And with the classification thing, I just thing it would be better for TSSAA to go ahead and make them 4A instead of 3. Just my opinion.

HVA is only playing freshman and JV next year. The schools you mentioned might not have the openings on their schedule because they usually play the JV and freshman teams that were already on the the schedule that was made two years ago for them. When HVA plays varsity next year then they will have a schedule in their region and also non-region. T$$AA does not care about gas prices or travel unless it is Maryville complaining about it.(5A)

  3. Parents and future players, will have a chance to meet HVA coaches. The meeting will take place at Cedar Bluff Middle on 4-29-08 @ 7 pm.

Very interesting webb sight and info about HVA meeting. I am sure the concerned citizens and boosters and parents of the schools that HVA will be trying get to transfer into HVA to play football will be there. The recruiting wars continue. I think that Maryville and Alcoa are just down the road on Pellissippi Pkwy. Welcome to the big time Coach Jones and HVA. Who will be the assistant coaches?

  4. Well said. Superior athletes equals wins if all other things are equal.

No one has mentioned how well Webb School of Knoxville or Knoxville Halls has done running the wing-t. Webb has won three state championships I think and always competed with Knoxville's teams. I think that Halls finished second in the state one year running the wing-t under Gary Shepard. Correct me if I am wrong.

  5. I heard today they hired Wes Jones as the Hardin Valley Academy Head football coach. He is originally from Greeneville, TN. He was a standout player and team captain at ETSU in the 90's and has been the assistant head coach at AE for two years. Before being at AE he was a head coach at Cocke County High and Assistant in Shelbyville. He won more games at Cocke County than any coach ever has before. I have met him a few times since he has been here in Knoxville and he is a class act guy. He will be a great assett to HVA. I hope he gets the support he will need to start up the program. He should be a great man for the job.

How many games did Coach Jones actually win at Cocke County. If he was such a good coach at Cocke County then why did he leave. Why was he just an assistant at Shelbyville and A-E. Will HVA try to play varsity football in 2008? I do not see how they will get a schedule this year. Will they be able to have spring practice? I wonder what happened to the plan that Kidstaxi was talking about. It sounded very good to me.

  6. Hey coaches and fans do the talking off the field, the players do it on the field, I was just trying to teach a young man when it was time for him to talk and when it was not. I am a huge Bearden fan and former player from 93-96 I was #73. I assume that you want to cry also. Like I said earlier I like the enthusiasm, especially the day after the game. Sorry he tore his ankle, I know what that feels like I have had torn ligaments in both of my ankles, it is not fun. And all I have to say is that if the rest of the team is that irritated and angry I like our or your chances next weekend.

Thanks for your support, Just ignore the to young players they don"t know how to respond to a former player that is just trying to support their former team, teammates, and coaches. THEY JUST NEED TO KEEP PRACTICING TO HELP THE TEAM TO GET PREPARED FOR SMYRNA AND APPRECIATE BEING PART OF A GREAT BEARDEN FOOTBALL TEAM AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE THEMSELVES A BETTER FOOTBALL PLAYER FOR BEARDEN NEXT YEAR WHEN YOU GET YOUR CHANCE TO GET PLAYING TIME. zcbh60, I remember you and you remind me of some of the linemen on this years Bearden football team. Your team did have an outstanding defense like this years team does. Thank you and all former players for your support.

  7. Thanksgiving is over and no one took my advise. Well I guess I will have to go the other way, you punks don't compare to the real Bearden haters of days past. You all are small time. Probably just a bunch of computer geeks that only know how to operate a spray can. In the old days, 60's, 70, and early 80's, It got physical and really creative like dead dogs, for sale signs, and funeral flowers. To GET WITH THE BIG BOYS you all better get creative and bring what you might call your A-GAME IF YOU HAVE ONE.

  9. oh well, sugar happens.. atleast i dont make up ridiculous things about people getting kicked out of games...so once again.. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT B1TCH!!

I DID NOT MAKE UP ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING. I just stated the facts. Some other poster supposedly made up this story about people getting kicked out of games. Like I said calm down, you will not make it to the so called tailgate party at 9AM Friday at BHS parking lot. Again HAPPY THANKSGIVING. It is just a game. Or is it.

  10. your a complete IDIOT! Andre has never gotten kicked out i dont know where the heck that came from. and Farragut is not a one man team. Last time we played you who had the winning TD???? ZACK ALLEN. HOW BOUT YOU GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU TALK ABOUT FOOTBALL.

I thought that #31 scored the winning TD in 2nd overtime. #9 caught a TD pass in the first overtime. Maybe you might check your facts. Slow down I do not want you to burn out before kick off and ruin your Thanksgiving. Oh by the way HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone and lets be civil, nice, courteous, gracious, or what ever you want to call it. Remember it is only a game. Or is it more than that.

  11. Ok, Andre runs his mouth. Cool. He's a very competitive person.. thats some of the reason he is so good. i dont care what you think, he does NOT act like T.O. When he scores, he tosses the ball to the ref and goes to the sideline. Watch the clips on farragutfootball.com and you will see. The Ooltewah game was nothing, he got hit very late and they should of thrown those thugs out of the game. ooltewahs players were a bunch of punks, and im sure the guy above me can attest to that. i mean, we were kneeling the ball and their guy came through way late and knocked Zallen down. everyone needs to stop hating on him. this thread is about how good he is among the best of all time. dont bring your garbage in hear tryin to hate on Andre for no reason

Welcome to the real world of coach T. When someone starts a thread like this you have to know that you will get posters positive and negative. Everyone has there own preception or what is the truth. You are on here alot so I would think that you would know how some people would reply. Very few threads stay on the subject or question that some people would like it to.

  12. ...and I believe SBEC is the only TSSAA school not in the state of Tennessee?

Well….headed to Murfreesboro on Saturday to root on the 10-1 Trojans and Mr. Football candidate H.R. Greer…and boy, is the task a big one. How to beat the 11-0 St. George’s Gryphons and their candidates Grant Jessen, Ben Popeck, and Hunter Cowan who laid an ugly whipping on the Trojans a few weeks ago for the only loss of the season…a tall order, indeed.

This Gryphon squad runs a power wishbone with a two pronged QB/RB attack with Cowan and Jessen with a change of pace speed back in there as well and both of the 1st two guys run very well themselves. They are so solid and execute so well. They also have a very frosty and confident defense…fundamentally sound, tackle well, and play assignments perfectly. What a great bunch of seniors they have. Ken Netherland gets my vote for Coach of the Year in DII-A for sure…maybe for all of DII…and he should get a lot of consideration for the Metro Memphis area as well.

The Trojans are somewhat young…6 seniors that play. If my math is correct, they total 9 of the starters….but it’s really 6 very solid seniors. I honestly never expected them to be quite as good as they are this year. The defense has been opportunistic and solid at times but they’ve certainly given up some points along the way. The offense has carried the team with a power running game and some misdirection thrown in to spice things up. St. George’s really stuffed the secondary options in the earlier game and if they do the same this time?...or if Greer is unable to get off to a good start?...It will be a long day again for the Trojans. Really super job by Coach Veazey and his staff to piece together a team that accomplished so much and relied so heavily on 15 sophomore and junior starters.

If I had to bet my house, it would be on the Gryphons but I know the Trojans will come hard and give it all they have w/ some wrinkles thrown in we haven’t yet seen. Either way, I look forward to celebrating the end of the season and their accomplishments. Congrats to both sets of young men and coaching staffs for successful seasons.

Hats off to several others out there. Bishop Byrne missed the playoffs for the 1st time in a while, I’m sure they’ll be tough and ready to go again next year. FACS really put together a nice run at the end of the season only to be de-railed by the Gryphon express. Those kids and coaches are to be commended for the way they finished off the season. It was nice to have Harding join the league this year….very solid and representative team and they’ll have very possibly the top WR recruit in the state next year in Marlon Brown. Rossville always comes out with every formation and play in the book and some not in the book to maximize their talent. I love to watch this bunch play. Davidson rebounded as well as you can after losing loads of talent off a championship squad but made the playoffs and showed us a little taste of a RB the rest of us will get really tired of for 3 more years. I love playing these guys…hard-nosed, tough, gritty, fiery…win or lose fighting it out and keeping that air of confidence you want your kids to have.

Tipton Rosemark gets a special commendation. Every kid on that squad had to lose over and over and watch injuries almost decimate an already thin squad. Kudos to you guys for not falling apart of just quitting. You could have. People will tell you it builds character and you may not believe it but you’ll be stronger men for sticking it out.

Come on down to Division II and join us, some of you private schools out there in central and east Tennessee. It’s a good division full of good kids and schools. We’d love to have you.

One last note: H.R. Greer, Mark Provence, Zach Medlock, Ryan "Bubba" Johnston, Sean Ferrell, Taylor "Bill" Locke, Josh Donaldson, and Stephen Dunavant. Thanks for you leadership and perseverance through a season that has given a lot of joy to your parents, friends, family, school, and all the other fans. One more time to strap on the equipment, guys. Go out, do your best, and your efforts will absolutely glorify God's name and that should be the goal in everything you do. God bless.

Are you bragging about SBEC not being in Tennessee. I know it is not but I do not know why. Oh I forgot the T$$AA is making all the rules and decisions as the go.

  13. The Battle for West Knoxville.....

tssaa loves this match-up, why do they stop letting people get in after halftime, i could understand not letting people in free but not even letting them pay to get in, i thought tssaa wants all the money they can get, this game should be a great high school football game if not the best of any games, east side=ae fulton, west side= bearden farragut

  14. I think that this is a very interesting thread. /jdub1o1 has put a new light into this thread. I have a question for jdub1o1. Was your son the player who transfered to Karns and was declared ineligible. If he was then could you tell us why Ronnie Carter ruled him ineligible and not the player for Farragut ineligible.TSSAA will not give any more information other than a player is ruled eligible or ineligible. NO details. That is why there is so much suspision surrounding this player from Farragut. It seems unfair for one player to be declaired eligible and another player to be ruled ineligible, especially both coming from the same school. If some posters want this to go away then why does not someone tell all. This question of eligibility will not go away unless TSSAA tells the details to satisify everyone, or maybe Farragut high school could could give all the details, but I doubt that. If your son was not the player denied eligibility then I hope he got to play football some where else. Do you know the parents of the player who was ruled ineligible, maybe they could enlighten everyone about this situiation. With the TSSAA ruling of granting a Hunters Lane player an extra semester to play football, actually five years of high school football and TSSAA ruling Bolton having to forfiet all wins because of a player using a false address to gain eligibility, questions are going to be asked. Questions will continue to be asked until people are satisfied with the information given by the people that know the truth, or if the truth is not presented by the parties involved then some posters will continue to make up rumors or speculate how all of this came to be. If FARRAGUTFOOTBALL51 wants everyone to shutup then maybe if he knows the truth and told the details of the situiation then everyone might shutup.uote]

I am the parent of the athlete ruled ineligible. I was a coach at Grace and it was through the stipends that I was able to send him there. With the change in athletic deptartment and football coaching staff, I was not asked back. Without this supplement it was completly impossible for our family to send our son back to Grace. Actually I am back in school to have my teaching certification changed from a temporary special cert to a permenant state certification.

Our initial hardship was denied. The reason given that I should made arrangemt financially to keep my son at Grace if I wanted to keep my son eligible. Second appeal to Mr. Ronnie Carter was also denied. Went before the Board of Control Monday in Nashville to have our case "de novo" or "heard anew" before a different group (I was somewhat suprised to see the major role that Mr. Carter played at the hearing, I thought we were to bring the case before an unbiased group to be heard "anew") that appeal wad also denied.

My family is in total shock over this situation. We meet all criterea for the hardship (section 24). From what I can see at this point (and we are planning on getting a more definative answer through whatever means nessecary) the opinion of one man on how my family is to arrange our finances and our individual futures dictates the high school athletic career of our son.

Our son stuck through the entire football season as a scout team palyer (he did start with the JV). As we enter into wrestling season in shich he was to be a part of the core is now relegated again to practicing for next year. This is hard for a 15 year old athlete who would have contributed on Friday nights (per the coaching staff) and challenged for a birth into the state wrestling tournament. This frustration is compounded by seeing others apparently finding no problem transferring from place to place (I know the player in question at Farragut was not at Grace his freshman year unsure if he played his freshaman year) with no consequences.

We did things the rigth way (completly honest and above board). My question is how can one man have so much control without checks and balances? Perhaps we will get answers, I know we are going to try.

I do hope for the other young men and their families at Farragut that what ever this about does not effect them at this point.

    good luck to both teams!

[ to dbcoach1 You have a very interesting story. Where did you live before you moved to the Karns zone. If you tell the truth and get denied eligibility then what did the other player and parents tell to gain eligibility? These questions will continue to be asked until someone tells the other players story.quote]

  15. If anyone thinks that DB's coach actually cares or would turn a kid in; you are mistaken. Some bull crap poster puts some slop on here about that? Plain silly. THink about it, if a coach wanted to make an issue of an opposing player; it would be made BEFORE the game. So rule that bull out. Clark don't give a crap about that, he is planning a way to slow Sterling and that is it.

Apparently you have never dealt with the TSSAA. The are very slow to act. That is why it takes so long to get a ruling on eligibility.People that know how to get this done are acting in secret.

  16. Due to unfortunate incidents there were several football players who left Grace Christian Academy (located in the Karns area of Knox County) after the last school year. My son was one of those, so I have some insight.

In an attempt to clear up some of the questions on this thread here are a couple of things that I know for certain. First, the student in question did not play in 10 varsity games last season, he played in 11. Grace, a Region 1 single A team played in one playoff game last year. He also participated, at Grace, in another varsity sport (for a short time) and in spring Football practice in May.

Second, there was another student who left Grace at the same time, who transferred to another school in Knox County (Karns). He was deemed ineligible by the TSSAA, even after an appeal, and his family moved residences within the county. It is my understanding that all of Knox County is considered Grace???s territory in addition to anything outside of the county with in 20 miles of the school.

I certainly hope for the other players on the team that he was granted a hardship. Section 24 of the TSSAA Handbook gives the Executive Director ???authority to set aside the effect of any eligibility rule upon an individual student when??? they meet certain criteria and I hope that is the case.

However, I don???t think it will be an issue after this week.

  17. I do. Alcoa plays in the 2nd smallest classification. That puts them in the bottom 40% of all schools size wise. Does it make you wonder how they regularly beat 5A and D2 teams?

Let's talk about size and championships. I doubt you will find a smaller county square mile or population wise then Trousdale. Do they have any issues competing at a high level year in and out? Why can't other schools do the same?

I do not wonder why Alcoa beats 5A, DII, 4A, 3A, and 2A. They have an open zone school that allows transfer students to pay tuition without moving into their zone. They should play private or have the multiplier applied to their population. I do not think any open zone school would have the success they have had in the past if they played with just students in their real zone. They do not play with their own students in their zone because they cannot win as much without their tuition paying out of zone players. I feel sorry for students that do not participate or get to play as much if they play behind these tuition paying students. I guess these schools like Alcoa and Maryville only care about winning and not about students in their zone who suffer by not getting to participate or play as much. I guess winning is not the most important thing, it is the only thing!

  18. If Brian Sommer lives in the Karns zone then why is he playing for Alcoa. I thought that you had to go to school in the zone that you lived? Was Sommer an ineligible player. I thought that Alcoa said they did not have to recruit players.

  19. Has anyone looked in to Nashville Hillsboro. They are an open school zone and also co-op with two schools that do not have football in Nashville. Why do they not have the multiplier applied to them. If I remember correctly they have been very succesful for many years. Can you believe it I did not mention Maryville at all this time.

The majority of public schools are open zoned in some way. ALL the publics in Hamilton County (and the other metro systems) are open in several ways. The only schools that can't take whatever transfer they want with no penalties are the privates.

Could you please explain opened school zoned in some way and Hamilton County and Metro systems open in several ways. It seems that everyone is so vauge in their post. All I know is that Maryville is open zoned and tuition paying transfer eligible and they are beating everyone. That is not very vauge!

  20. Anybody got a guess as to how many open zoned schools there are in the T$$AA? I don't mean that sarcastically, I really don't have any idea. I can just think of several off the top of my head.

And if you do that, what about the T$$AA rule allowing an athlete to play a sport at another school if their school does not offer that sport? Would you not have to put in the multiplier there too?

[Who are they off the top of your head. Yes put all schools that allow students from out of their zone to be eligible without living in their zone under the multiplier rule./quote]

  21. Why is Maryville so good?

I think this tale of the tape may answer some questions with a comparison with Halls after eight games. I understand the ability of the Rebels to execute more because of a deeper bench and talent pool available, etc.

    Halls

Run 86% of the time 281 plays for 1918 yards for 78% yardage gained. 6.82 avg.

Pass 14% of the time 45 plays for 524 yards for 22% yardage gained. 11.64 avg.

    Maryville

Run 61% of the time 203 plays for 935 yards for 32% yardage gained. 4.61 avg.

Pass 39% of the time 129 plays for 2002 yards for 68% yardage gained. 15.52 avg.

By the looks of things a complete contrast of coaching styles. Julian has done a great job this year for the Red Devils and it shows in the W's this year and the personel at his disposal.

Quarles has mastered a domineering style that matches a college team in offensive style and this definitely shows the way to win championships and a unbelievable unbeaten streak of 52 and counting record.

So congratulations to both programs this year. It looks like another ring for the Rebels once again.

Talent pool, deeper bench? Just tell the truth Maryville has all of the best players in all of Blount Co. and some from other counties including Knox Co. They even have Burnett who should be your quarterback. But I guess the truth hurts CZAR. Maybe your Halls players will be aggressive enough to make Burnett wish he had stayed at Halls, If you know what I mean.

  22. If Maryville and Alcoa pull all the in county and surrounding area talent, then way is William Blount also the Number #1 ranked 5A team in the state!?

Sucess breeds sucess! If you want to be a champion watch what a champion does. For Blount County teams they don't have to go far to see how the other does it!

If people think the sucess Maryville and Alcoa has had in the last three years comes from open zone, then we'll just keep the secret to ourselves...............feeder programs, middle school programs......opps, did I say that?

    -BlountCountySportsFan

[Maybe the coach from William Blount has found out a way to keep his players ay William Blount./quote]
